Nightmares… the end of the world… black-clothed men… foresight…
Zhushi Jiu told Du Fei everything under the blessing of the bow, excluding the part where he changed “rewinding” to “foresight.” Naturally, this included the black-clothed men who would appear soon.
In his description, everything originated from a nightmare he had about foresight, and the black-clothed men were an evil organization that would launch a terrorist attack to destroy the world tomorrow morning. Meanwhile, the Executive Chess Society, to which he and Du Fei belonged, was a righteous organization dedicated to saving the world.
Du Fei was stunned, her entire body frozen in place.
“Are you kidding me?” she thought to herself. “I’m really stupid. I was prepared for danger at night, but I still fell into the trap called ‘seduction.’ I had pepper spray and an electric shocker in my pocket, but I didn’t even get to use them before being pointed at by an arrow.”
And what was this man saying?
Although she understood every word, the absurd content made her feel like this person was crazy. It was too fantastical, like something from a movie. Only someone with a mental disorder would speak like this.
After listening to Zhushi Jiu’s words, she only replied with three words: “You’re crazy.”
“I’m not crazy,” Zhushi Jiu said.
Although he appeared normal on the surface, wasn’t what he did tonight – luring a girl to this deserted park and telling her absurd stories – typical of a psychopath?
Du Fei felt a chill run down her spine.
“Our time is limited, Coach Du,” Zhushi Jiu said, his hand holding the bow steady.
This required her to thank him for his daily crazy training, which allowed him to improve his archery skills every week.
He asked, “What can I do to make you believe me?”
Du Fei didn’t want to believe him, but she knew this answer wouldn’t satisfy the person in front of her. So, she replied, “You said you had foresight, then you foresaw the end of the world tomorrow?”
Zhushi Jiu seriously answered, “Yes.”
“Do you have superpowers that allow you to predict the future?”
“Yes.”
“Okay, then tell me what’s in my left pocket.”
There was silence.
“You’re not saying you can predict the future, but you can’t even predict this?”
Zhushi Jiu sighed and answered, “Wallet. You have a wallet in your left pocket.”
“Wrong, it’s pepper spray.” Du Fei wanted to believe Zhushi Jiu’s lies about predicting the future, but reality was that he couldn’t provide convincing evidence. Zhushi Jiu’s mistake only made her think he was mentally unstable.
She asked again, “What’s in my right pocket?”
“Wallet,” Zhushi Jiu replied, unchanged.
“Wrong, it’s an electric shocker!” Zhushi Jiu nodded: “Now I know, the left is pepper spray, and the right is an electric shocker. Okay, I remember.”
Du Fei speechlessly looked at the man in front of her. What’s the point of remembering? The key is that your lies about predicting the future have been exposed!
Just as she thought this, Zhushi Jiu shook his head and put down his bow.
“You can leave.”
Du Fei felt extremely incredulous. “What?”
“I said, you can leave.”
Zhushi Jiu looked at Du Fei with a complex expression.
As Du Fei stood still, Zhushi Jiu didn’t seem to plan on doing anything to her. But she still felt uneasy, unsure why this psychopath suddenly changed his mind.
“Are you not going to do something to me?” Du Fei asked.
Zhushi Jiu disdainfully asked back, “Do you want me to do something to you?”
Du Fei still felt incredulous, unsure why this psychopath suddenly changed his mind. But she slowly backed away: “You’re not going to shoot me in the back as I leave, are you?”
“I won’t. You can leave.”
Zhushi Jiu’s reply was very calm.
In fact, they would meet again soon, but not here – in the hands of the black-clothed men.
So Du Fei really left, her face pale, taking three glances back as she fled like someone escaping a flood.
Zhushi Jiu, on the other hand, slowly packed up his bow and arrow, waiting calmly.
He waited for only ten minutes.
—
When Du Fei walked back into the forest, her face pale, surrounded by a group of black-clothed men pointing guns at her, Zhushi Jiu smiled.
Then he looked at the black-clothed men.
“Hello, I’ve been waiting for you.”
There were eight of them.
How, did you guys not have anyone else? Or is this your standard configuration?
Zhushi Jiu carefully examined the black-clothed men, trying to identify the two familiar old friends from the Black Troop Organization. Unfortunately, each black-clothed man only revealed a pair of eyes, making it impossible to distinguish their features.
None of them responded to Zhushi Jiu.
One black-clothed man held Du Fei hostage, while the other seven surrounded Zhushi Jiu, their guns pointing at him, as if ready to fire at any moment.
However, nothing happened.
One of the black-clothed men walked forward, holding a canister of spray.
Finally, Zhushi Jiu saw the substance that had knocked him out – “α-7.”
What the hell is this stuff?
…
When Zhushi Jiu woke up, everything was pitch black.
He felt his body and realized it was a familiar sensation.
He was sitting in a chair, his eyes covered by a blindfold, unable to see anything. His hands were tightly bound behind him, and his legs were restrained by chains and ropes. There was a gag in his mouth, connected to a lock that went around his head, making it hard to open his mouth.
He would never forget this place.
Even the faint moldy smell in the air made him tremble.
This was the familiar interrogation room.
“Are you awake?”
A low, sinking voice spoke up.
This was a familiar voice.
“So, let’s begin… Remove his gag.”
The familiar interrogation began once again.
