Chapter 60: Five Times Failing Driver’s License Test Level 2 and the Released Handbrake!

Chapter 60: Five Times Failing Driver’s License Test Level 2 and the Released Handbrake!

Perhaps because Xia Xiangsi had been frequently trending lately, with all sorts of gossip flying around, her appearance in Gu Yin’s “Reconciling with Life” livestream resulted in unusually high viewership.

From the moment Gu Yin turned on his camera that morning, the concurrent online viewership reached a staggering 1.03 million and was still climbing!

    So many people!

Watching Xia Xiangsi learn to drive simultaneously!

Xia Xiangsi was already under immense pressure!

She had been ridiculed and trended on social media every time she took driving lessons, and now she had gained the label of “Clumsy Beauty.”

    But sometimes…

The more cautious you are, the easier it is to make mistakes.

Like now, she didn’t know what came over her. Gu Yin’s instruction was simple enough—check if anyone’s behind you, meaning just look in the rearview mirror.

But she insisted on leaning out to look, even getting out of the car to check.

What on earth was she thinking?

She wanted to ask herself that too!

“Sigh…” Gu Yin sighed, opened the car door, and got out.

“Where… where are you going?” the girl tried to stop him.

“I’m getting some air.” Gu Yin picked up his teacup and took a sip, looking utterly despondent. He pointed to Liu Jie, practicing in an old Santana nearby, “You’re just as bad as that five-times-failed Driver’s License Test Level 2 driver.”

Inside the car, the actress gritted her teeth, a mix of shame and anger, yet helplessness…

“You practice, I’ll watch from down here,” Gu Yin instructed.

“Humph,” Xia Xiangsi snorted, thinking to herself that it was better for him to be away, at least she wouldn’t be filmed by that darn camera of his.

Lightly lifting the clutch, she continued practicing. This time, it went smoothly, no mistakes—starting, shifting gears, reversing, checking the mirrors…

After practicing for two or three days, her parallel parking wasn’t perfect, but she had some basic skills.

    But for some reason…

Gu Yin found something odd about the car.

“Why isn’t it moving…” Gu Yin scratched his head, approaching with his thermos.

“What’s that smell?” He frowned, leaning closer. Besides the usual exhaust and fuel fumes, there was a strange odor.

Gu Yin pinched his nose, sniffing carefully. The smell was coming from the rear tire…

    He leaned in to look…

    “Holy crap!”

A classic Chinese curse slipped out, and Gu Yin slapped his forehead.

“I…” Instinctively, he wanted to scold Xia Xiangsi.

But opening his mouth, remembering her expression from his previous reprimand, he wondered if he had been too harsh?

Having been an instructor for several years, Gu Yin knew that constantly scolding students could make them too timid.

“Try a different approach,” Gu Yin muttered, waiting for Xia Xiangsi to park before opening the passenger door and getting in.

“Ahem.” Clearing his throat, Gu Yin asked, “Don’t you think the car’s moving a little slowly?”

“Is it?” Xia Xiangsi furrowed her brow, looking at Gu Yin with confusion.

Gu Yin remained silent, thinking, *She definitely doesn’t know…*

“Okay, continue practicing,” Gu Yin waved his hand.

“Oh,” Xia Xiangsi nodded, resuming her practice.

Lifting the clutch, shifting gears, starting, turning the steering wheel—everything was normal.

    “Ahem…”

But just then, Gu Yin, holding his thermos, cleared his throat and affected a terribly inaccurate broadcasting voice:

    “This is Tokyo, Japan…”

He pointed a finger at Liu Jie, who had just gotten out of her Santana after a lap, “That student is called Five Times Failed Driver’s License Test Level 2!”

Xia Xiangsi giggled. Liu Jie had often been used by Gu Yin as a “negative example,” constantly being put on the “pillar of shame.” He had even teased her before she got out of the car.

Now that Gu Yin brought it up again, she naturally joined in the laughter…

But before she could laugh for a few more seconds, she saw Gu Yin’s finger change direction, pointing at her.

Then, continuing in his inaccurate broadcasting voice:

“This student is called Released Handbrake.”

    As he said that…

    【Pfft…】

Many viewers in neighboring livestreams had already realized what was wrong.

    The barrage of comments scrolled:

【Coach Gu: I’ve hinted this much; if you still don’t understand, you can’t blame me!】

【Hahaha… Coach Gu is really considerate of Xia Xiangsi’s self-esteem!】

【You’re right, this Coach Gu is a real talent, haha!】

Most people in the livestream immediately understood what Gu Yin meant…

    Everyone understood the hint.

    But Xia Xiangsi was different…

The actress’s perfectly drawn willow-leaf eyebrows rose slightly. Xia Xiangsi clearly disliked the nickname, subconsciously saying:

    “Don’t give people random nicknames.”

Especially something…from Japan, that bunch of…nonsense.

“…” Gu Yin was speechless, a look of helplessness crossing his face. He opened his mouth, hesitated for a moment…

    “Released Handbrake,” he repeated.

“Are you done?” Xia Xiangsi was unhappy, her pink lips slightly pouting, looking somewhat cutely dazed.

“I said, released handbrake,” Gu Yin silently facepalmed, repeating again.

He thought, *Sister, my sister, can’t you hear the other meaning in those four words? The literal meaning! Literal!*

“Are you going to keep going?!” Xia Xiangsi showed a hint of anger.

Her driving was already prone to mistakes, and Gu Yin kept interfering, and not just any interference, but by giving her nicknames…

How could she not be angry?!

    “Slap…”

In the live stream, Gu Yin slapped his forehead, his face clearly saying, “This woman is hopeless.”

    “Tap tap!”

He placed his thermos on the right side of Xia Xiangsi’s seat, by the handbrake, tapping it twice, shouting:

“I told you to release the handbrake!”

    “Release the handbrake!”

“You’re going to wear out my brake pads!”

    “Can’t you understand?!”

    After he finished speaking…

    Xia Xiangsi: “???”

A series of question marks appeared on the girl’s smooth forehead.

    Looking down…

The handbrake was indeed firmly engaged.

In an instant, she suddenly understood. So that’s what Gu Yin meant when he got in and asked if she thought the car was slow, and used nicknames to hint.

Realizing what happened, the girl was stunned, and then…

The blush that had faded returned to her delicate face, “whoosh,” appearing at a visible speed!

    Embarrassing…

    So embarrassing!

    She couldn’t practice anymore!
