Chapter 131: A Show of False Harmony; Nan Feihuang and Tang San

Hearing Zhu Zhuqing’s assessment of Nan Feihuang, Dai Mubai felt a pang of displeasure. But he didn’t say anything; he had no face to refute her. At the most dangerous moment, when Xiao Wu was captured, he, the captain of Shrek, had been paralyzed by fear of the Titan Giant Ape, unable to give chase. Yet this person, who had simply been traveling with them through the forest, had risked his life to save her. How could he possibly say anything more?

Ning Rongrong, too, had always disliked Nan Feihuang, but this time she had to admit his selflessness. Who would willingly face a monster like the Titan Giant Ape for a complete stranger? It wasn’t just kindness; it was saintly.

“Brother Nan, did you see Xiao Wu?” Tang San hurriedly asked. Right now, nothing else mattered. He didn’t even care about Nan Feihuang’s claim of a bountiful harvest; he only wanted to know about Xiao Wu.

Nan Feihuang nodded. “Brother Tang, don’t worry. I found Xiao Wu. She’s fine. I brought her back. She’s right here.”

He lightly tapped his belt, and Xiao Wu’s figure materialized. The girl lay quietly on the ground, seemingly unharmed. Tang San rushed over, his heart pounding, and scooped her up. “Xiao Wu, Xiao Wu, what happened…?”

Tang San’s medical skills were quite good. Seeing Xiao Wu unconscious, he immediately examined her. He found she was unharmed, likely only stunned by the aura of a powerful being. She would wake up soon enough.

A wave of immense relief washed over him. He had been on edge for so long, and now he could finally relax.

“I’m sorry, Xiao Wu. I’m useless; I couldn’t protect you. I swear, no one will ever hurt you again,” Tang San said, his voice full of emotion as he held Xiao Wu.

But he hadn’t forgotten something else. After entrusting Xiao Wu to Zhu Zhuqing’s care, Tang San walked to Nan Feihuang and bowed deeply.

“Brother Nan, you first fended off the Human-Faced Devil Spider for me, and then you rescued Xiao Wu. I am eternally grateful. Brother Nan, if you ever need anything, Tang San will never refuse.”

When it came to polite formalities, Tang San was far more skilled than Nan Feihuang.

His killing intent towards Nan Feihuang had truly dissipated, at least for now. Firstly, Nan Feihuang’s background was too formidable. Even if he wanted to kill him, he wouldn’t have the opportunity or the resources. It was better to use this chance to climb down, seemingly becoming friends with Nan Feihuang completely.

Tang San naturally understood the value of having many friends.

Furthermore, Nan Feihuang hadn’t wronged him. After all, he, Tang San, was the third person in history to possess a Dual Martial Soul, with limitless potential. As long as Nan Feihuang didn’t become his enemy in the future, even if his strength surpassed Tang San’s later on, he wouldn’t hold a grudge against the “single-handedly defeating eighteen opponents” incident. Letting it go completely wouldn’t be a problem.

Secondly, Nan Feihuang had truly done him a great favor. If he still tried to harm him, his reputation would be completely ruined, and the Shrek Seven Devils, except for Xiao Wu, might distance themselves from him.

After all, who would want to befriend someone who repaid kindness with vengeance?

The Shrek Seven Devils had only known each other for a short time; their bond was weak, and the team could easily fall apart if something unexpected happened.

Nan Feihuang didn’t really take Tang San’s polite words to heart. This guy’s attitude changed with his strength. When weak, he was humble; when moderately strong, he treated others as equals; and when powerful, he was a quintessential superior treating an inferior.

“Brother Tang, you’re too kind. By the way, I brought gifts for everyone. Take a look!” Nan Feihuang produced three unconscious Soul Beasts from his belt.

Tang San looked closely, surprised. “These are…healing-type plant Soul Beasts. There’s a Spike-Topped Earth Star Mushroom, skilled at stopping bleeding and detoxification; a Mandala Snake, a poisonous Soul Beast; and a Thunder Light Dragon. Perfect for Oscar, me, and Yu.”

“Brother Nan, did you specifically prepare these?”

Nan Feihuang nodded. “Yes, it was actually accidental. I didn’t actually save Xiao Wu. When I got there, she was already unconscious on the ground, surrounded by a pile of unconscious Soul Beasts. I just picked a few that we could use. By the way, I also absorbed my fourth Soul Ring there, which is why I came back a little late.” Nan Feihuang spoke with a mixture of truth and falsehood.

Du Guobo showed a mix of surprise and understanding.

“I thought it was strange. Just you, kid, you couldn’t possibly have rescued someone from the Titan Giant Ape. It seems something else intimidated the Titan Giant Ape, making it leave the girl behind. You just got lucky. I wonder what could intimidate such a strong being as the Titan Giant Ape.”

“Regardless, you’ve been a huge help. Tang San, Oscar, what are you waiting for? Absorb the Soul Rings immediately,” Zhao Wuji said. Soul Beasts were different from other things; there was no reason to refuse such a gift.

Moreover, Nan Feihuang’s choices were perfectly suited to his students, and he wouldn’t refuse.

“Thank you, Brother Nan!” Tang San thanked him again and killed the Mandala Snake with a single strike, absorbing its Soul Ring.

Oscar reluctantly thanked him and cut the mushroom in half.

Finally, Yu Tianheng patted Nan Feihuang’s shoulder and smiled. “We’ve been brothers for three years. I won’t be as formal as they are. I owe you one.”

He naturally liked the Thunder Light Dragon, which was extremely suitable for him. Without hesitation, he killed it.

Three purple Soul Rings began to form, and the three simultaneously absorbed them.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, Xun Yu approached Nan Feihuang, his lips moving slightly, using a sound transmission technique. “My lord, was this trip successful?”

Nan Feihuang nodded slightly. “All problems have been solved. Don’t worry!”

Xun Yu was pleased. “In that case, as long as my lord is here, our future will be unstoppable!”

Soon, the three who absorbed the Soul Rings woke up. The first was Oscar. After all, the Spike-Topped Earth Star Mushroom he absorbed had barely exceeded the thousand-year threshold, and this type of Soul Beast was a non-aggressive healing type, making absorption easy.

His new Soul Skill was still Sausage, only now it was a healing sausage capable of treating both internal and external injuries.

Next was Tang San. Absorbing the Mandala Snake Soul Ring further strengthened the toughness of his Blue Silver Grass and its Mandala poison. Even his first Soul Skill, the paralyzing effect, was stronger than before, and his third Soul Skill now had a deadly poison.

His third Soul Skill was called Triple Entanglement. As the name suggests, it released three strands of Blue Silver Grass to bind three people simultaneously. While not quite a group control skill, it was pretty good for a third Soul Skill.

Combined with his original first Soul Skill, Tang San could now control four people at once. Considering that in team battles, the opposing team only had seven members, he could control more than half of them, which would be very helpful for the upcoming Soul Master Tournament.

“It’s a great Soul Ring. Thank you, Brother Nan,” Tang San said contentedly.

Nan Feihuang waved his hand. “Alright, Brother Tang, you’ve thanked me many times today. Consider it an investment. With your talent, Brother Tang, I believe your highest achievement will be Title Douluo. I’m befriending a future Title Douluo ahead of time, securing a strong ally for my own forces.”

“Haha, Brother Nan is straightforward.” Tang San didn’t dislike Nan Feihuang’s directness.

Nan Feihuang had helped him so much today that he would remember it. As long as Nan Feihuang remained valuable to him in the future, he wouldn’t mind returning the favor.

Unbeknownst to him, Nan Feihuang’s words were mostly sarcastic. The phrase “highest achievement, Title Douluo” was praise for Tang San, no matter who heard it on the Douluo Continent.

Even Ning Rongrong, Dai Mubai, and Zhu Zhuqing, from prominent families, thought Nan Feihuang had excellent foresight. Tang San’s cultivation speed suggested a high probability of becoming a Title Douluo, making him worth befriending and investing in.

However, this was predicated on their ignorance of Tang San’s true potential: dual Gods!

Now that Tang San had lost his Eight Spider Lances and Nan Feihuang wouldn’t be giving him any Immortal Herbs, dual Gods were impossible. Obtaining even a single godhood would be considered incredible luck. If his luck was bad, Title Douluo might very well be his highest achievement.

Yu Tianheng awoke slightly later than the other two; a four-thousand-year-plus Soul Ring required more effort. This fourth Soul Ring granted him a powerful attack Soul Skill: Blue Electric Dragon’s Speed.

Thus, everyone achieved their goals for this trip. While there were several unexpected incidents, they managed to overcome them safely.

Still, they remained somewhat frightened and immediately prepared to leave the Star Dou Forest after absorbing their Soul Rings.

By the time the Sky Azure Bull Python reached the outer edge of the Star Dou Forest, the group had been gone for half a day.

Sensing the lingering aura of the Titan Giant Ape, the Sky Azure Bull Python was filled with rage. It roared to the heavens, “Damn it! Who dared to harm my younger brother? No matter where you are, I will find you and pulverize you to avenge my brother!”
