    Chapter 31: The Spring Water Goddess Temple Wants to Arrest Me?

    The warriors stirred with a faint commotion.

    The temple?

    The War God Temple next door, from the Bishop down to the pastors, were all sitting here, impossible that they would suddenly produce more people;

    The Natural God didn’t even have a temple, and besides, the worshippers of the Natural God were all good-natured folks, not this domineering.

    So, the only possible people coming to arrest him were…

    The Spring Water Goddess Temple!

    Ugh, the most annoying one.

    The biggest airs, demanding the most donations, they would push and evade when asked for help with healing, their eyes only seeing those noble lords…

    Sigh, even though they were annoying, they couldn’t be given the cold shoulder. On the battlefield, they relied on others for their lives, offending them now, with bad luck, could cost one their life.

    Over a hundred warriors collectively turned their heads, then collectively turned their gaze back. Captain Kalen and Knight Frin looked at Grett with worry, but saw him standing firmly on the podium, not the slightest bit nervous.

    Grett was truly relieved.

    He had rushed all the way here, not falling too far behind the temple people, making it back to the City Guard before Knight Roman filed his complaint and the temple decided to arrest him;

    Good luck, the coincidence of saving Knight Silo had also drawn the attention of the War God Temple;

    Even more in his favor, when the Spring Water Goddess Temple came to arrest him, the leaders of the City Guard and the War God Temple were both present, with these two around, how could they let him suffer a loss?

    Grett calmly stepped down from the podium. Before Knight Frin and Captain Nolan could speak, he faced the temple envoy, saying frankly:

    “You’re looking for Grett Nordmark? That’s me.”

    His expression was too calm, the envoy was taken aback, giving him a closer look. A teenager, with black hair and black eyes. Wearing a deep brown linen waistcoat, dusty, the appearance of the most basic City Guard soldier.

    From appearance to attire, exactly as Knight Roman had described.

    It was a bit strange to be on the podium, but, well, a soldier was a soldier…

    “Very good.” He raised the wooden staff in his hand, waving it forcefully. Behind him, two tall and strong guards immediately stepped forward:

    “Come with us!”

    Grett neither obeyed nor resisted, standing in place, using an inquiring gaze to look at Captain Nolan. As expected, Knight Nolan rose, sword in hand, his thick brows slightly furrowed, asking the envoy:

    “Grett? What does the temple want with him?”

    “Just to ask a few questions.” The envoy replied lightly. After answering, he immediately fixed his gaze on Grett, urging him again:

    “Let’s go!”

    “Uh, wait… I’m not done yet… Can you wait a little while?”

    “The Divine Officer is waiting! Come on!”

    Grett was dragging his feet and unwilling to go. Taking this opportunity, Lieutenant Frin squeezed over, reporting to Knight Nolan in a very low and rapid voice about the previous events:

    How the squad was requisitioned, how Knight Roman sought revenge, how he was seriously injured, and how Grett had gained the favor of the Necromancer…

    Knight Nolan pondered as he listened. After listening to the whole story, he nodded:

    “I understand. — Grett, come, I’ll go with you.”

    “Knight Sir——”

    The temple envoy was about to object. Knight Nolan refused to allow him to argue, waving his hand:

    “Little Grett is my subordinate, and I’ve always had high hopes for him. Since the temple has called for him, I’ll go with him, it’s only natural.”

    “This… this…”

    Thinking that he was just summoning a soldier, but had stirred up the City Guard Captain, a seventh-level knight personally taking action. The envoy was quite astonished, before he could refuse, the bald-headed Bishop of the War God Temple rose with a smile, walking over to Grett’s side:

    “This kid is interesting. I also want to see what the Spring Water Goddess Temple wants to ask him. Your temple wouldn’t mind, would they?”

    Welcome or not welcome, it wasn’t up to him, a mere errand runner, to decide. Besides, the Bishop of the War God Temple visiting the Spring Water Goddess Temple, even the Great Divine Officer would have to go out and greet him, what could he say? Or dare he say anything?

    The envoy bitterly bowed, reaching out to guide them. The bald-headed Bishop happily walked out of his seat, and as he passed Grett, he put his arm around his neck and squeezed forcefully—

    This Bishop was burly, with broad shoulders and a round belly, his arms were almost as thick as Grett’s waist. Just this hug and squeeze, Grett almost suffocated.

    A group of people rumbled out of the military camp.

    The Spring Water Goddess Temple was behind the City Lord’s Mansion, not far from the City Guard camp, but not close either. It was a bit far to walk, and if they were to ride horses or take a carriage, it felt a bit too much of a fuss.

    The bald-headed Bishop strode forward, directly walking, the Spring Water Goddess Temple’s envoys, who had originally come by horseback, had no choice but to hold the reins and trudge behind.

    It’s really a ghost… Why is he so unassuming…

    The envoy grumbled in his heart, helplessly.

    As he walked, a figure suddenly darted out from behind, one of the temple guards he brought to support him. In three or two steps, he got to Knight Nolan’s side, walking beside him, reporting in a low voice:

    “It was Knight Roman who complained at the temple…”

    The envoy froze.

    He looked to his left, two of the City Guard’s four lieutenants had followed, one on each side of Grett, occasionally glaring at him;

    He looked to his right, behind the bald-headed Bishop, seven or eight pastors followed closely, as if they were about to empty their nest. Just looking at the number comparison, the person he was supposed to arrest didn’t seem like a City Guard soldier, but more like a pastor of the War God Temple;

    Then he looked behind, a long line of City Guard soldiers followed in a trickle, looking eagerly forward, seeming worried…

    The envoy’s mind suddenly became clear.

    I’m just an errand runner! I have no grievance or enmity with the City Guard, or with this boy I’m supposed to arrest! I didn’t receive any favors from Knight Roman either!

    Just because I want to sell my favor, so what?

    He hurried forward, passing Grett, whispering to Knight Nolan:

    “Knight Roman accused your City Guard’s Grett of collusion with a Necromancer, injuring him severely. Divine Officer Donald testified for Grett, saying that the Necromancer appeared after Grett had already entered the lower hall, and they were both knocked down together…

    Now, because the search was unsuccessful, and significant losses were incurred, Divine Officer Donald has been ordered to reflect. Knight Roman’s injuries are not light, the Great Divine Officer personally cast a Healing Technique, but the effect was not satisfactory, and he is quite tolerant of him now.

    The Great Divine Officer said that the knight’s injuries were not healing well, because he wasted a night last night, and did not receive timely treatment…”

    Behind Knight Nolan, Grett’s eyes flickered slightly, a silent smile curving his lips.

    Disobeying medical advice!

    Serves him right!
