    Chapter 61: X-rays! I Got It!

How to see if internal organs are ruptured?

This question, if truly explored in detail, could fill an entire book. X-rays, ultrasound, CT scans, abdominal punctures, and, if it is appropriate, laparoscopic exploration…

There are countless methods and tools used in the clinic to assist doctors in making diagnoses. However, now, in this strange world, facing this elderly healer, Gretel could only answer:

    “Physical examination!”

    “How to examine?”

“Watch carefully. Abdominal examination, the most basic is palpation. Different positions correspond to different internal organs… left upper abdomen…”

Gretel talked incessantly. The white-haired elder bent his body, listening intently, eager to take notes immediately. Gretel deliberately slowed down his speed, allowing him to see more clearly. He operated while explaining:

“When palpating the liver, you should place your right three fingers together, extend your metacarpophalangeal joints, and make the tips of the index finger and middle finger parallel to the costal margin, placed to the right of the umbilicus… inhale… exhale… hmm, there is no obvious pain… Let’s continue to examine the spleen…”

The elder nodded as he listened, his gaze focused, his lips moving slightly, as if reciting the lecture content. Gretel examined it in one breath:

    “Preliminary judgment, no obvious internal organ rupture;

    Spinal shape is normal, no obvious bending or deformation;

No obvious external injury to the head, no hematoma, left arm… right arm…”

Very good, very good. Except for the internal injuries that could only wait for them to explode, which could not be checked for now, the only thing that needed to be dealt with was the open fracture of the left leg!

Gretel was very excited. He propped himself up on the ground and moved slightly, touching the skin above and below the fracture site. He stood up:

“Okay, now all that’s left is to treat the left leg—”

He turned his head and looked at the elder. Seeing the white hair fluttering, the spirit vigorous, and the arms thick enough to beat even a bear, he felt a movement in his heart and casually cast a detection spell:

    “Ouch—”

Gretel cried out in surprise. Bright, so bright! Especially the stick in the elder’s hand, in the meditation vision, it was as bright as a 500-watt high-pressure sodium lamp!

Gretel instinctively raised his hand to shield his eyes. As he raised his hand, he suddenly froze, rushed to the oak staff, and tremblingly placed his palm on it:

    Can see!

    Can see!

Through the magical aura emitted by the wooden staff, the palm, fingers, bone by bone, clear as day!

He finally found it! A mutated version of the detection spell, X-ray magic, he finally found it!

Gretel stared at his palm in a daze.

If he were in his previous life, seeing this visual effect, he would definitely run as fast as he could — no one wants to play with X-rays for no reason.

But now, he looked at the magical aura penetrating his palm, as if he was looking at the most precious treasure!

This world, which has nothing, X-rays are invaluable to a surgeon!

The white-haired elder looked at Gretel with a chuckle.

He took a step back, and Gretel took a step forward; he turned the oak staff in a direction, and Gretel followed, turning in the same direction — while also making sure he didn’t step on the injured person under his feet.

Until the detection spell expired, the magical aura disappeared, and Gretel woke up with a jolt:

    “I…”

“You’re the little guy who healed Baron Balen?” The elder waved his oak staff, interrupting his words:

“I heard your healing technique is a bit special?”

It’s your healing technique that’s special… Gretel thought to himself. On the surface, he still had to put on a smile:

“Old sir, I would like to ask, healing techniques for treating this kind of fracture…”

Gretel lowered his head and pointed to the pale-faced injured person on the ground:

“Will it be difficult to align the bones? After it heals, will it be lame?”

The elder was moved. He pondered for a moment:

“Indeed, there are difficulties. Experienced healers are fine, but for newbies, it’s possible to heal the wound, but often the bones are not aligned correctly. How about it, do you have a way?”

    “I have a way!”

    Gretel’s eyes shone brightly.

They took the injured man back to the village.

Luckily, this injured person was from Tal Village. Gretel escorted the wounded man and patrolled the village, killing two birds with one stone.

As soon as they reached the village entrance, the old, weak, and young who hadn’t gone out to work in the fields, and the strong laborers who had received the news rushed forward, all greeting the elder:

    “Elder!”

    “Elder, you are here!”

“Elder, thank you for saving Lorin!”

The mage tower servants who accompanied Gretel looked at him frequently. Gretel pretended not to see, and with a clear conscience, he shrank behind. Instead, the white-haired elder reached out to pull him over:

“You got it wrong this time. It was this kid who saved the person, you should thank him!”

Several hands stained with dirt immediately reached out to Gretel, wanting to express their gratitude. Gretel dashed back to the elder:

I still have surgery to do later! You dirty hands, don’t touch me!

He held onto the elder’s back tightly:

“Let’s go save people quickly! Find a big, clean house and carry the patient inside! Boil water! Spirits! Soap! Knives! Hooks!”

The biggest and cleanest house in the village was naturally the village head’s house. The things were delivered, and Gretel learned his lesson, he drove all the villagers who were watching away, lest someone make a fuss beside him. After washing his hands, he took the knife and hook, and casually cast a spell on it.

“This is…” The elder’s eyes lit up: “A magic trick?”

“Yes, it can be used as a cleaning spell.”

    Gretel’s eyes sparkled.

To say that this skill is really useful, it lasts for one hour, and every second, it can clean something within one cubic foot.

It’s perfect for washing flasks, test tubes, or cleaning surgical instruments!

I just don’t know how the sterilization effect is… I’ll do a bacterial culture test tomorrow…

Gretel picked up the scalpel, observed it for a moment, and made a cut. Before the white-haired elder could be surprised, Gretel’s blade danced, and he had already exposed the blood vessels.

With a raise of his hand, a translucent clamp with a faint glow appeared in the air, and the two sides closed together, immediately clamping the slightly shrunken blood vessel.

“Magehand?” The elder was surprised for the second time: “Using Magehand like this? What are you doing?”

“Clamping the blood vessel… Okay, you can loosen the tourniquet on the leg injury…”

Gretel answered naturally. He clapped his hands, put down the scalpel, cleaned it with a clean white cloth dipped in water, cleaned the wound as much as possible, then smiled at the elder:

“Next, I need to ask for your help.”

“What do you need me to do!” The elder patted his chest generously. Gretel nodded in thanks:

“Place your wooden staff behind the injured leg. Find two people to hold the injured leg on both sides, when I say pull, pull it to both sides. When I say you can stop, please, as I tell you, align the bones!”

    “You… won’t break it?”

    “Absolutely not!” Gretel was confident:

“Yes, I have a spell that can see what the bones look like inside the flesh!”

    “One, two, three, pull!”

Creaking, the muscles were stretched forcefully, making an extremely unpleasant sound. Gretel scrambled to cast the detection spell, in his meditation vision, the bright white light penetrated the muscles, revealing the bent, broken, and fractured bones. Gretel stared intently at the fracture site:

“Pull more, pull more, okay, stop!”

He rushed forward, grasping the broken ends with both hands, and pushed them towards the normal position.

    Ugh, so heavy!

    I’m not an orthopedist!
