    ## Chapter 92: Something’s Wrong, Something’s Very Wrong

    World Will’s Favorite?

    Gretel’s heart skipped a beat.

If there really was something called the World Will, then he, a stowaway, was probably the kind of person the World Will hated the most, his reputation value was probably negative from the start!

So his upgrade path was different from others – probably first saving someone, the World Will, seeing his good deed, gave him a tourist visa; then saving three or five more people, turning his tourist visa into a green card; developing new treatment methods, allowing him to become a citizen?

The so-called high affinity between mental power and elements, was the World Will looking favorably upon him, giving him a little bit of authority?

    Wait!

Now was not the time to draw conclusions!

Gretel tried not to let his mind wander. The sample size was too small, he needed to level up at least twice more to see!

To level up, he had to learn. After sending the old Mage back to the Magic Council, Gretel dove headfirst into the sea of books.

After becoming a Level One Mage and a Level One Pastor, the number of books he had to read and things he had to learn immediately increased. Heaven help him, leveling up fast had its downsides, the Mage apprentices’ required knowledge, like Magical History, Continental Geography, Magical Flora and Fauna Illustrated Guide, Alchemy and Potion Studies, he hadn’t finished memorizing them all yet!

Dual professions meant double the effort. Gretel stayed in the Mage Tower day and night, only knowing the rising and setting of the sun, not knowing how time flew by. The old Mage was also very attentive to his grandson’s savior, within a month, the Magic Council’s envoy arrived.

“Gretel Nordmark?” The man was a twenty-something male, with a languid spirit, a sallow complexion, his black hair hung like a curtain on his forehead, it was unclear how long it had been since he last washed. The three magic wand embroidery on his robe was diagonally arranged, he was clearly a Level Three Mage.

He took a document from the knight behind him and handed it to Gretel:

“The Council is launching a project recently, bringing together young, potential low-level Mages for special training. Master Lorenz recommended you – last month, your paper was accepted for publication, selected for this project.”

    Published?

Gretel was a little excited. He clenched his fist and flashed a big smile: Published! Published a paper!

In his previous life, publishing a paper was extremely difficult, especially those with an impact factor of five or more, often requiring a year or two of research, preparation, writing, and often revisions upon revisions. Standing on the shoulders of giants made it easy to publish papers…

This heartfelt joy also infected the man. His sallow face twitched, a stiff smile stretched across it:

“Get ready. In two days, come with me to the Magic Council.”

    “Alright!”

To welcome the Magic Council’s envoy, and also to see Gretel off, the Mage Tower held a small banquet. At the banquet, Gretel heard some news that was neither good nor bad:

    Sir Roman was dead.

“Dead?” Gretel was stunned. “How did he die?”

“It is said he committed suicide.” Mage Kalen used this gossip as an accompaniment to his drink, telling it with relish at the dinner table:

“He died tragically, his blood was drained! My servants told me that he committed suicide in the temple’s secret chamber, using blood to draw a big reversed pentagram, with his whole body lying on top of it!”

    Dead…

Gretel stared at his plate, dazed.

In the plate, fragrant roasted chicken, runny fried egg, golden-brown on the outside, snowy-white on the inside fried cod, fragrant and sweet blueberry jam. Each one was something he could get easily in his previous life, but something he couldn’t afford when he first crossed over.

    Two months ago, he was a new recruit in the City Guard, Sir Roman wanted to conscript him to participate in the search operation, he could not resist;

    Sir Roman sent the gargoyle in his direction, he narrowly dodged, but he was not even qualified to retaliate;

Sir Roman had the temple send people to arrest him, he relied on the protection of the big shots to escape…

Now, he could indifferently listen to the death of Sir Roman as gossip.

“Suicide? Why?” Mage Elliot asked, chewing on a piece of bread. Gretel shrugged:

“His right hand was crippled. He asked me to cure him, but I couldn’t.”

“That guy who wanted to harm you?” Mage Elliot suddenly realized. Before Gretel could answer, he put down his right hand dinner knife, gave a thumbs-up:

“Well done! He deserved it! He deserved not to be cured!”

Gretel smiled bitterly. He barely managed to justify himself by saying “I really couldn’t cure him”, Elliot waved his hand impatiently, with an “I know, I know, whatever you say I believe you” look, and then asked Kalen:

“What about the temple? Will they trouble Gretel?”

“How could they! The temple is going crazy!” Kalen made a contemptuous gesture. He laughed gleefully, his golden hair swaying:

“The temple is almost crazy, the High Priest is leading a group of people to pray for exorcism every day, almost tearing down the secret chamber! I heard that when the guy was found, his internal organs were all turned into black water, the ground was about to be corroded through!”

    Black water?

    Corrosion?

    Infiltrating the ground?

Gretel was startled. He quickly grabbed Kalen and asked: “Will the water source be affected?”

“How could it be!” Kalen waved his hand nonchalantly. Seeing that Gretel still had a frown on his face, he sneered and patted Gretel on the arm:

“What are you worried about! What does the Spring Water Temple do, purify water, they are the best at it! Besides, it has nothing to do with us anyway, you know where the Mage Tower’s water comes from? Directly connected to the Water Element Realm!”

    “What…”

    Gretel was stunned.

    Water Element Realm?

    Something so grand?

Their Mage Tower was directly connected to it?

“You don’t even know this?” Mage Kalen was also dumbfounded. “Well, you just leveled up recently, not yet time to learn about the Mage Tower… But have you been too hardworking these days? Didn’t even hear any news?”

    Gretel smiled awkwardly.

These days, he had read through books half his height, learned 5 magic spells and 3 divine techniques, finished two experiments, and one was still ongoing. While eating, he had a fork in his mouth, his mind was still on the magic model, let alone hear the news, he didn’t even know what he was eating…

“Oh, don’t worry about it! It’s been ten days since that guy died, if something was going to happen, it would have happened already, if nothing happened, that means it’s fine!”

    “But…”

Gretel’s brow did not relax. The spread of infectious diseases takes time, brother! Even something as virulent as the plague, from its tiny beginnings, to its explosive spread, it takes time!

He ate this meal with a heavy heart. As soon as he stepped out of the restaurant, the servant waiting outside rushed forward and bowed deeply:

“Mage Nordmark! Someone named Raymond is looking for you, he says he is your neighbor and has an emergency!”

    Brother Raymond?

    What kind of emergency?

Is it that Sir Roman died and his family took it out on Uncle Kalen’s family?

Gretel was startled and hurriedly went downstairs. Raymond was pacing back and forth at the Mage Tower entrance, his brows furrowed, his face filled with anxiety. When he saw Gretel appear, he rushed over and grabbed him, pinching Gretel’s shoulder painfully:

“Little Gretel! Save Aunt! Aunt is sick – very sick, can’t find a Pastor!”

Another big plot point! Rubbing hands excitedly!

This afternoon’s update will be on recommendation again, hopefully, it has a chance to succeed in the PK this time~~~ Remember to come and watch every day, don’t hoard the book, reading is important…
