Chapter 97: To the Magic Council the Day After Tomorrow?

Everyone in the hall stared at him.

Gretel looked back firmly – not abandoning anyone, saving everyone, was his plan. Just like in his previous life, until the patients were cleared, until everyone recovered and was discharged, the Fangcang shelter would not be withdrawn, the doctors would not leave, and the support team would not retreat!

He looked down at the patients, still gently patting Little Ava, not caring about getting his robe dirty. This gentle attitude gradually calmed the panicked and frightened patients. Elder Elwin smiled slightly and followed his disciple to stand on the table, shouting loudly:

    “Citizens!

    Followers of the Natural God!

I am Elder Elwin of the Sect!

It was a joint decision of the War God Temple’s Bishop and me to gather the sick here. The servants of the Natural God, the Pastors of the War God, will all be here to care for you!

Please follow instructions and go with the Pastors. I will not leave here until the last patient is cured!”

Elder Elwin’s prestige and reputation were naturally much higher than Gretel’s. He personally came forward and, after repeated reassurance, the patients finally calmed down.

The flow of people started again. Gretel put down Little Ava, wiped his sweat, and went to the side hall to wash his hands and change clothes.

He had just put on a clean robe when, with a creak, the small door opened. A person rushed in, grabbed Gretel and said, “Why are you still here?”

It was Lawmaster Elliot… why was he so anxious? Gretel turned his head and saw a Knight following slowly behind Elliot. The Knight nodded slightly to Gretel as he saw him:

“Lawmaster Nordmark. Lawmaster Weitman will depart for the Magic Council the morning after tomorrow. The Lawmaster asked me to tell you to get ready and return with him then.”

    The morning after tomorrow…?

Gretel subconsciously looked around. Elder Elwin, Anthony, Ivan, Joanna, and other Pastors of the Natural God Sect, who had rushed over, and several Pastors from the War God Temple, all stopped their movements at the same time.

Elder Elwin’s hand just paused, but he didn’t look at him. He continued to change clothes. But Anthony, Ivan, and Little Johannes, who had just entered, all stared straight at him. Little Johannes blurted out,

    “Gretel… are you leaving?”

“Yeah… there are so many patients here…” Anthony whispered. Joanna pulled him aside:

“It’s fine if he goes! Little Gretel is going to the Magic Council, that’s a good thing! – Little Gretel, you just go the day after tomorrow, we can handle it here!”

    Leave?

    Go to the Magic Council?

In the face of a great plague, abandon the patients and leave?

Magic is indeed something I like – even more than Healing Technique – but I can’t just abandon my patients!

Gretel struggled hard. He shook off Elliot’s hand, stared at the Knight in front of him, full of anticipation:

“Can Lawmaster Weitman leave later?… like, half a month later?”

    “Gretel! That’s the Magic Council!”

Elliot stomped his feet. The Knight shook his head at the same time:

“The Council’s deadline is very tight. – Lawmaster Weitman will visit Lawmaster Lynn tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, and has to leave the day after tomorrow. Lawmaster Nordmark, please prepare yourself, we’ll meet at the Lawmaster’s Tower tomorrow morning.”

Is there no room for flexibility?

Gretel wanted to struggle again. Elliot had already grabbed his hand again:

“Gretel! I’ve been asking around! This Magic Council plan has been in the works for over half a year, and the candidates were all decided! You were only recommended at the last minute, and the classes start in half a month. It’s already very tight to get there now!”

    Is that so…?

Gretel looked around regretfully. Through the side hall door, he saw the patients groaning in pain, the Pastors running back and forth, and the strong women carrying buckets and carrying bowls and chopsticks, running back and forth. Beside him, Elliot pulled his arm hard, his voice urgent:

“Gretel! This is a rare opportunity! Many resources will be concentrated, and many masters will come to lecture! With good luck, you might even become the disciple of a Grand Lawmaster or even a Legendary Lawmaster! Don’t miss this opportunity! Go quickly, don’t delay!”

Gretel withdrew his gaze. He opened his mouth to speak, but Elder Elwin’s hand had already landed on his shoulder:

“Little Gretel, go! You’ve already done a lot, we can handle things here!”

    Can we handle it?

    Maybe.

But for my own development, to abandon the patients in the face of a great calamity, if I did that, I wouldn’t be myself anymore!

Gretel gently shrugged off his teacher’s hand. He struggled free of Elliot’s grasp again, took a step back, and looked solemn:

“Elliot, I’m sorry. I am very grateful for the Magic Council’s recognition, and I am very grateful to Master Lorenz for securing this opportunity for me – but, before being a Lawmaster, I am first and foremost, a Healer.”

“I can’t abandon my patients – I’m sorry, I won’t go anywhere until the plague is gone and all the patients are cured…”

He bowed deeply. To Lawmaster Elliot, to the Knight who had come to deliver the message, to the old Lawmaster and the Magic Council who gave him the opportunity. Then, he straightened up and strode out:

“Don’t mix up the utensils! Everyone uses their own bowl, and after it’s collected, it must be boiled in boiling water before being given out! Everyone must wash their hands before eating, and washed fruit cannot be eaten without peeling!”

“Boil water! Every mild patient needs to drink water, add salt to the water, add sugar! How much? – Set up a separate room to prepare sugar-salt water, I’ll come and have a look soon!”

“Make more curtains and separate the beds from each other! After patients have diarrhea, they must be washed clean and dried! Otherwise, sores will develop on their bodies!”

The Pastors followed and rushed out. Lawmaster Elliot stood there dumbfounded, and after a long time, stomped his foot angrily:

“How can he be so stupid!”

Gretel kept shouting as he walked.

There weren’t many people from the Natural God Sect, but the War God Temple, besides the Pastors, also sent Temple Guards and capable Deacons. He just gave orders, and people would run to do it.

Gretel had a look around, seeing that the affairs in front of him were roughly in order, and then went to see the patients.

The seriously ill patients had been separated and arranged in a separate side hall. Elder Elwin stood by the bed of a young boy, his palm extended above the child, white light flashing, falling in dots on the boy’s body. Gretel waited for a moment, until this treatment was over, and quietly pulled the old man aside:

“Teacher. I have some ideas about treating this plague… the focus of Healing Technique can be on the lower left abdomen… look, many patients have severe pain in the lower left abdomen…”

Elder Elwin pondered for a moment, nodded, and immediately announced it loudly. The servants of the Natural God all agreed, but on the War God Pastor’s side, a low cold snort was heard:

“Oh, so a student is directing a teacher? A Level One Pastor directing an 8th Level Pastor? Little guy, how much Healing Technique have you learned? Do you understand this disease?”
