Three beeping sounds rang out, and Xu Zhizhi paused. Her phone was ringing; she lowered her eyes to the door, a hint of disdain flickering in her gaze. Then she picked up the phone, hung up, and sent a message, continuing to enter her password.

“Beep beep beep beep beep beep.”

    “Click…”

A sound resonated as the door opened. Xu Zhizhi grasped the vertical doorknob, not pushing the door but instead pulling it directly toward her. With one hand, she pulled and took out her phone, calling Yun Ziwei. “It’s okay… I’ll handle it… Trust me.”

After saying this briefly and feeling the pull from the doorknob, she continued to maneuver it and called Qin Su next. Qin Su quickly answered the call, and he was always quick to pick up when Xu Zhizhi called. It took no more than three seconds to connect.

“What happened?” He was hurrying over to grab the computer where Xu Zhizhi had stored information, simultaneously pondering how to find the mastermind pulling the strings behind everything.

Xu Zhizhi thought for a moment, “Well… how should I put it!”

“Just say it,” Qin Su replied nonchalantly.

Xu Zhizhi licked her lips, feeling the tension from the struggle on the other side, and remarked with a hint of emotion, “Uh… I locked someone in my apartment, and now we’re having a strength contest… I think it’s him… coming to find me.”

She felt a bit uncertain, as the whole thing sounded absurd. A criminal, locked up by a good person.

On the other end of the line, Qin Su fell into a prolonged silence, and the only sound was the noise of brakes; clearly, Xu Zhizhi’s revelation had shaken him.

“What did you say?” he asked incredulously, pulling over to the side of the road.

Xu Zhizhi quickly clarified, “Don’t panic, it might just be a small henchman sent here, not the mastermind.”

“Can you hold your ground? What about Feng Jie?” Qin Su asked immediately.

Xu Zhizhi’s gaze landed on the doorknob, noticing the other party could only exert a minimal force against her.

    She smiled, “No problem.”

Upon hearing Xu Zhizhi’s response, the force on the doorknob surged. Xu Zhizhi was yanked a bit and slipped her phone away, using both hands to pull while the other side remained still, unable to budge her strength at all. The opposing force was weak, but more importantly, Xu Zhizhi had the “Outburst of a Mental Illness Patient” item activated. This item was quite effective for her.

At that moment, the elevator chimed, and a young man and woman dashed out. Xu Zhizhi glanced back; it was Feng Jie and Li Qing, with Li Qing holding a brick picked up from somewhere.

When they saw Xu Zhizhi standing at the door, the two seemed momentarily stunned. Then they noticed Xu Zhizhi’s hands evidently in a struggle over the doorknob’s opening and closing.

Feng Jie rushed forward in a single stride, grabbing part of the doorknob and signaling Xu Zhizhi to step aside. Feng Jie’s core strength was exceptionally strong, nearly indistinguishable from that of a well-built man, so all she needed to do was control the situation, and Xu Zhizhi could retreat.

Xu Zhizhi slowly released her grip, looking at Feng Jie and Li Qing with a puzzled expression. How did these two know she was in danger? And what about Yun Ziwei?

“I ran into Li Qing downstairs; he said he saw someone in your room while going to collect equipment. Out of precaution, I called Yun Jie, fearing she wouldn’t have time to call you, so he and I rushed up together,” Feng Jie explained quickly, noticing Xu Zhizhi’s confused gaze.

Xu Zhizhi looked at Li Qing, “You have quite an eye.”

“Otherwise, how could I work as a paparazzo?” Li Qing squatted down to put down the brick and scratched his head.

Suddenly realizing something, he turned to Xu Zhizhi, “Sister Xu, how did you know there was someone in the room? I doubt Yun Jie could have called you in time!”

Earlier, he had dashed down the stairs and then realized he wouldn’t make it in time. He had already imagined a scene where he and Feng Jie rushed in with the brick to save Xu Zhizhi.

To his surprise, when they arrived, Xu Zhizhi hadn’t even entered the room yet and was instead tugging at the doorknob with the person inside.

Xu Zhizhi raised an eyebrow, leaning closer to the door gap and said, “You can blame certain people for being careless; it’s easy to spot those tricks.”

She paused before explaining, “I’ve studied a bit about lock picking. When I was entering the password, I noticed scraping marks on the lock indicating it was pried open. I don’t carry keys with me, so when I saw the marks, I realized someone tampered with my apartment’s lock.”

Feng Jie and Li Qing stood there with their mouths agape, stunned by how knowledgeable Xu Zhizhi was.

“Zhizhi, what else is there that I don’t know?” Feng Jie exclaimed in surprise, her eyes wide open.

Xu Zhizhi smiled subtly, “Just a keen learner.”

After the conversation ended, Xu Zhizhi hung up on Qin Su. The crew members hadn’t returned yet, and by the time Qin Su arrived, they still were not back.

Feng Jie let go of the doorknob, knowing that with a detective like Qin Su arriving, even if someone was a seasoned criminal, they should understand Qin Su’s prowess.

Qin Su pulled out his wooden baton, surveying the open door, then turning around to enter the room with his back to the wall. It seemed the person inside realized Qin Su’s arrival and was now terrified, trying to hide.

Qin Su looked around, his gaze landing on the second bedroom, the master bedroom, and the bathroom, all of which were closed, with only the door to the second bedroom slightly ajar.

The living room was simply arranged, and a brief glance made it clear the intruder wasn’t hiding in there. When he entered, there was no sound of the door opening or closing, indicating the person hadn’t gone to the master bedroom or bathroom.

Turning back to Xu Zhizhi and the others, he instructed, “Don’t come in; I’ll catch him first.”

    “Okay,” Xu Zhizhi quickly agreed.

In no time, Qin Su kicked open the door to the second bedroom with a loud bang. He wasted no time pointing at the person hiding behind the curtain and sternly shouted, “Put your hands up and come out!”

Seemingly realizing there was no escape, the man slowly raised his hands and walked out. He was a very frail-looking male, dressed in all black, wearing a hoodie that radiated the image of a hacker, with a pure black mask covering his face. His long, thin hair barely peeked out, and his sunken eyes were fixated on Qin Su.

In his hand was a remote control, only four or five centimeters long, black and red mixed.

Qin Su’s expression tightened, “Drop what you have in your hand.”
