Qian Ning understood Xu Zhizhi; the chosen hotel suite was quite nice. Renting it long-term didn’t cost much more than renting an apartment.

It could be said that everyone was very satisfied except for Qian Qian. All the extra money was paid by Qian Qian himself.

After tidying up, Xu Zhizhi sat cross-legged on the sofa, slowly studying the wind chime in her hand.

Lin Yu sat down on the living room sofa, watching Xu Zhizhi play with the wind chime, and asked curiously, “What’s up? Is there something special about this wind chime?”

If she were to say, this thing felt quite ominous; Lin Yu was afraid of attracting bad luck just by holding it.

To her surprise, Xu Zhizhi even took it off to study closely, which was quite brave.

Everyone knows that in supernatural thrillers, curiosity often leads to disaster.

“Do you really think there are ghosts in this house?” Xu Zhizhi tilted her head, her eyes curiously examining Lin Yu, intrigued by her thoughts.

Lin Yu instinctively scratched the back of her head, “It feels a bit like there’s a ghost. That sound seems to be whispering right in my ear.”

“There are no ghosts in this world; if there is a ghost in this house, it must be man-made,” Xu Zhizhi said meaningfully.

Lin Yu rolled her eyes and, after a moment, said, “Zhizhi, is it because you’ve played quite a few characters who have creepy and sinister temperaments that you’re not scared of these things at all?”

“Maybe,” Xu Zhizhi replied, flipping open a shell, her gaze probing its interior.

After a while of inspecting it without finding anything wrong, she placed the shell down, headed to wash up, and then went to her room to sleep.

Perhaps it really was man-made, but all she did was study it a little before deciding not to discuss it further.

Since it was still early, Xu Zhizhi took a look at the script and checked the list to understand her schedule for tomorrow.

The indoor shoot was crucial, mainly revealing old stories gradually; the male lead would also begin to discover the female lead’s discrepancies.

It seemed they would need to shoot for about half a month.

Next would be the neighbors, in-laws, friends, and the escalating public opinion online.

Xu Zhizhi thought for a moment and used the Crime Simulator to simulate the scene where the male protagonist’s daughter was harmed.

This scene was in the script and had very specific details and development.

Having received payment from the counterpart, Xu Zhizhi wanted to delve deeper into the emotions of the victim’s mother, portraying her with more genuine feeling.

Xu Zhizhi closed her eyes and opened them again, the scene playing out vividly before her.

It was a rainy afternoon with a little girl holding a white transparent umbrella, backpack strapped on, walking in a nearly deserted neighborhood.

The ominous clouds above made the whole sky dark and oppressive.

With a storm brewing, the cars on the road sped past quickly, the sound of whooshing tires filling her ears.

The girl looked up at the darkened sky, then glanced at the shortcut alley, biting her lip, caught in a dilemma.

She wanted to hurry home, but her parents instructed her not to wander too far off the beaten path.

After pondering, the girl gritted her teeth and chose the relatively broader main road.

Even on the major road, she tightly gripped her umbrella’s handle, as there wasn’t a single soul on the nearby streets.

Cars passed by at intervals of one or two minutes, and the desolate scene made her heart feel extremely uneasy.

As she passed a half-finished building, a homeless man suddenly lunged at her, pulling her away.

The girl began to struggle, crying out in despair.

Xu Zhizhi stood frozen in place, closing her eyes.

Because soon, the scene turned to the girl being assaulted, a dagger cruelly piercing
