Xu Zhizhi was quite surprised. Just twenty-two sketch images, and they had already located the person. Had they confirmed that the other party was indeed the deceased?

In terms of timing, the Beijing City Criminal Investigation Department truly deserved accolades for their speed. In just two hours, they moved from comparison and inquiry to verification. There must have been many people working together to gather evidence so quickly.

Xu Zhizhi didn’t ask who was involved; that wasn’t her concern. Her second reaction upon seeing the news was joy. Regardless of what happened, locating the person surely cleared her of suspicion, right?

Xu Zhizhi rubbed her eyes, which were dry and sore from staying up late, feeling tears welling up inside her; it had not been easy. She shared the news with Qin Su immediately—he was the only person she could share this kind of news with. Sending it to others would be inappropriate and could easily drag them into the matter.

A year ago, how could she have imagined she would fall to such a low point? Clearing the suspect’s name, and now she was sending messages to a friend to celebrate.

_“Xu Zhizhi is blissfully unaware: Confetti~ The Beijing City Police have already confirmed the victim! I’m no longer suspected!”_

    Qin Su: _“Good.”_

    Xu Zhizhi: _“Yeah!”_

A smile crept onto Xu Zhizhi’s face because this was indeed fantastic news. Just as she was feeling ecstatic, Qin Su sent another message.

_Qin Su: “Be careful; the murderer might be watching you.”_

He said this because he had reviewed and investigated the case yesterday. The particulars of the case naturally couldn’t be revealed to Xu Zhizhi, but the outcome of his analysis was not friendly to her, necessitating her to take care of herself.

For this reason, he reminded Xu Zhizhi to be cautious. Upon reading his message, a chill ran through her, as if a bucket of ice-cold water had been dumped on her during the bitter winter. She instinctively took a deep breath, the sharp chill raking through her teeth; she felt once more like she was being monitored by Chen Xu.

She couldn’t see him, but he kept an eye on her every move. It was like playing a game of “who’s the murderer”, only this was the real-life version, where a moment’s inattention could lead to her demise.

Xu Zhizhi grumbled about this wretched Criminal Assistance System; it really maximized the pros and cons. Every penny earned had to be cautiously guarded, it was infuriating—despite having honed her acting skills earnestly.

_“It’s clearly your own weakness; with so many skills at your disposal, you still cower in fear of breaking the law.”_

_“If you choose to positively utilize the Criminal Assistance System and strive to be a host that satisfies it, I can tell you who the murderer is. You can just kill him directly, and then you won’t have to live in fear.”_

The Criminal Assistance System immediately chimed in, urging Xu Zhizhi. During this period, Xu Zhizhi had ignored the system. Hearing it speak, she chose to disregard it as always.

Since it appeared, it had been enticing her, wanting to drag her into the abyss. _“Dream on! I’ve earned so much money; even if I don’t buy a house, I can squander it in a small city until I die. Going to prison would mean losing everything.”_

This unreliable system was at her throat; Xu Zhizhi kept voicing her grievances inwardly.

After Xu Zhizhi didn’t respond for a while, Qin Su seemed to detect her mood and sent another message.

_Qin Su: “Pay attention to your own safety, be a bit more cautious; you’ll be fine.”_

He genuinely believed that Xu Zhizhi was fine now; facing her could lead to unforeseen circumstances.

Xu Zhizhi understood the implications behind his words, tears welling in her eyes—when did she become this formidable presence in Qin Su’s eyes?

_Xu Zhizhi is blissfully unaware: “Captain Qin, you’re mistaken!”_

_Qin Su: “Don’t worry, Li Feng and the others are still in the village, reach out if you need anything.”_

    _Xu Zhizhi: “Okay!”_

Though it seemed outrageous, Xu Zhizhi found comfort in it. No matter who the other party was, as long as she was careful, they wouldn’t necessarily be able to do anything to her. As Qin Su said, Li Feng and the others were temporarily still in the village.

After gaining a brief sense of relief, Xu Zhizhi discreetly tucked her phone away and began filming the next scene. She had just taken a break after filming too long, and this sequence continued from the previous scene—where the villagers hurriedly shoved them into a side room.

They wanted to ask, but the villagers’ intimidating glares left them no choice but to submit. All three of them were good at following advice; when the village chief pointed to the second floor, they obediently nodded.

They stayed on the second floor to observe the situation and see what exactly was happening. The director wanted a more authentic feel, so this was a long shot. Xu Zhizhi and the others rushed upstairs under the cameraman’s direction; they had to redo it seven or eight times due to expression issues before getting it right.

After capturing the scene of them peeking out the door through a gap created a feeling of fear that someone might spy on them. A group of villagers approached, all around fifty years old, carrying hoe and sickle, their fierce demeanor clearly signaling that they meant trouble.

The trio exchanged glances; now they understood why the village chief had sent them upstairs. Jiang Ningfu was already looking for an exit on the second floor, sensing that these people would not let things go easily. As for what the village chief hadn’t finished saying, they could only guess, but it definitely wasn’t good news.

    It undoubtedly involved human life;
