The cool breeze blew past, waking him from his second faint. A melodious song drifted through the air.

His forehead and nose, which had collided with a tree a short while ago, throbbed intensely. He steadied himself against the tree trunk, swaying as he stood up. Light shone through the gaps in the trees ahead, and he could still faintly hear the clamor from both near and far. The ambiance of the song painted everything around him as if it were a carnival gala.

He stood there, panting, recalling the events that had just transpired. That’s right, he came here to find the White Snow Boar, then… he crushed someone to death, the police arrived, he… seemed to have seen a dead man, then ran for his life towards this direction, someone grabbed his collar and they flew like circus performers, then… a dagger plunged into that person’s neck, blood spraying like a fountain…

    Could this… be too unreal…

His gaze was vacant as he looked to the side. The forest was dim, but he could still see if there was anyone on the ground. And sure enough, there were no corpses. He slapped his cheeks to regain his composure, “Snap out of it, Fu Yan Jie! These are just hallucinations, they can’t scare you!”

He kept thinking, kept turning in circles. There was no body on the ground, that was obvious. But there was blood on him, it seemed like he really did crush someone to death. And that couple of scumbags did call the police, but… he probably saw most of what happened as a hallucination – regardless of whether it was real or not, he’d killed someone. The police would be coming to arrest him, these police, they’d arrest good people like him when bad guys were running loose… Of course, he didn’t consider himself a good guy anymore, his head was a tangled mess.

Speaking of, he was basically a bully on the internet in Jiang Hai City, the “Fat Superman” who encouraged weight loss, but in reality, this fat man was just a timid and cowardly宅男 (nerd) with an excessive vanity. Although he had been through the Xingmeng Hao incident, he hadn’t been involved in too much bloodshed. Now he thought back on it, it seemed more like a thrilling adventure. But now he had actually killed someone. The thought of the consequences that followed – being labeled a murderer and hunted nationwide – made him feel uneasy and panicked.

Although cowardly and timid, he had a deep-seated aversion towards the police, and the thought of turning himself in after killing someone never even crossed his mind. As he calmed down a bit, he began to think about how to escape. Didn’t the hacker god Mitnick also become a fugitive under the pursuit of the FBI? First, he had to find a way to leave Jiang Hai, then use his computer skills to track the police investigation. What kind of scenes were there in the movies?

First, escape from Sacred Heart Academy, immediately leave Jiang Hai. Then he couldn’t contact anyone he knew. The main gates were out of the question, and he couldn’t just climb over the wall in a hurry. He had blood on him, so he needed to change his clothes first. To avoid the police dogs smelling him, he should spray on strong perfume to mask his own scent. He could only get these things by… borrowing them…

You’ve already killed someone. From now on, you can only trust yourself. Under the vast power of the state, you won’t have a chance to make mistakes. You’ll be alone, fighting, becoming a warrior. You will eventually triumph… With mixed emotions, he encouraged himself, but fear still occupied a large part of him.

He moved forward stealthily. The music had calmed down, the school seemed quite peaceful. Those who were supposed to be taken away were probably gone, and those who were still hiding were probably in places that were hard to find. Even if many people were carrying out some action, they were trying to stay quiet. He wasn’t detected, a gunshot rang out in the distance… Was Sacred Heart Academy showing a movie? He thought to himself with annoyance.

Still the same dark room, some empty bottles collected from here and there were scattered on the ground. Xun was sitting there, pouring bleach into them, making makeshift土炸弹 (homemade bombs). Sha Sha watched beside her, looked out the window, and sighed, “They’re still playing that song, it’s so awful… What kind of madman is this… Why is he doing this out of the blue? That Xingmeng Hao incident was the same… Do you think Jia Ming will find us?”

She paused, picking up the pendant she wore around her neck, “Jia Ming said there’s a signal transmitter in here, he can find me anywhere. Xun, he hasn’t come yet, could it be…”

“No, it won’t.” Xun cut Sha Sha off, her face showing a slight change in expression, her gaze fixed on the front, “They’ve set up something to block electronic signals, so Gu Jun can’t find us. I think he’s already come in… That guy playing music is called Wunian Zhusheng, he’s a lunatic. He’s very powerful, but someone even more powerful, Gu Jun has defeated him twice… Gu Jun will be fine…”

After saying this, she finally lowered her head and continued pouring the bleach.

“But there are bullets flying everywhere…” Sha Sha said, then realized it wasn’t a good omen, and quickly shut her mouth, “Xun, you know who that guy really is, you should also know their purpose in coming here…”

“They… Wunian Zhusheng came here to defeat Gu Jun…”

The room fell silent for a while, Sha Sha looked towards the still quiet outside, “Xun, is your injury serious? If someone comes, we’ll split up and escape… I think we should discuss this now…”

“I won’t leave you.” Xun glanced at Sha Sha, “You stay behind me.”

    “But if that happens…”

    “I’ll protect you. If I can’t… he won’t forgive me…”

This “he” clearly referred to Jia Ming. Another silence fell, Sha Sha lowered her head, hesitantly saying, “Actually… Xun, did you come to Jiang Hai voluntarily?”

The hand in mid-air suddenly trembled, then all the bleach poured onto her left hand. She put down the bleach, took a deep breath, looked at Sha Sha with hesitation, and finally nodded, “I’m sorry…”

“Sorry for what?” Sha Sha looked at her in confusion, then continued, “Jia Ming rarely talks about you, but there were a few times he mentioned that you were thrown here by someone named Tian Yu, for some reason… It’s definitely not a good feeling to be a pawn. I know you rarely go shopping, rarely interact with people, and Jia Ming… doesn’t care much about you…”

“Um… he…” In the darkness, those clear eyes suddenly lost focus. Her heart thumped wildly, “Thump-thump-thump…” After a long time, the eyes regained their clarity. Her right hand tilted, and the bleach accurately poured into the glass bottle below, “Actually, I came to drag Gu Jun down with me.”

    “Huh?”

“If Gu Jun hadn’t taught me things, Pei Luo Jia… might not have considered him an enemy, and this… Wunian Zhusheng wouldn’t have happened…”

“Tian Yu Jun naturally hoped I’d do this, but I… only… I…” Her thin lips parted slightly, she seemed to struggle to find the right words. Sha Sha’s gaze drifted through the air, she nibbled lightly on her lower lip, “That… Xun, do you like Jia Ming?”

“I’m not worthy…” Xun replied without hesitation. Sha Sha was caught off guard by her serious tone, feeling a bit awkward as she scratched her head, laughing, “Heh, I just feel… I just feel that you, well… that guy is not some big shot, what’s there to be worthy or not worthy of. Haha… Let me see if anyone is coming.”

With that, she turned and climbed to the window, peering carefully for a long time. As she turned back, she saw Xun hand her a grenade, and she couldn’t help but jump. “Uh, this…”

“It’s simple to use, pull the pin here. No one can survive within close range. I kept one for myself… If something happens later, I’ll be in front of you. If I can’t protect you, or we can’t escape, then use it.” Xun’s not-so-fluent Chinese, with its raspy accent, always gave a slow and leisurely feeling. Now her tone was calm, as if she were talking about a trivial matter, “Don’t let them threaten him, okay?”

As he pushed open the door, the fat man’s heart felt a mix of emotions.

It wasn’t just the feeling of running away after killing someone. All the way here, he’d been hiding, not seeing anyone, yet the entire school had a strange atmosphere. The music had stopped earlier, the sirens seemed to be coming from afar, never stopping, and occasional bangs made his heart sink. He even saw a two-story building that had collapsed and caught fire. Although he had been intentionally avoiding people, he hadn’t encountered a single person along the way, which was quite eerie. What was even weirder was that at times, he felt like countless eyes were watching him, causing goosebumps to rise all over his body.

Little did he know that the people in the school were either gathered in the central teaching area or scattered and hiding, and there were only twenty or so mercenaries searching and capturing people. They had lost a few, and the fact that he hadn’t run into them was simply good luck. Those who were hiding along the way had spotted the fat man at least twice, but since no one recognized him and the distance was always too far, they hadn’t called out to him, hence his feeling of being watched.

He felt strange and instinctively moved towards the campus center, where the lights were brighter. He hadn’t been discovered by the mercenaries yet. The first thing he saw was a row of two-story buildings. He peered through the windows, hiding and dodging, it was really strange, there wasn’t a single person around. The door of one of the buildings wasn’t even locked, he observed a large wardrobe inside, and then slipped in. After a short while, he came out dejectedly – the person who lived here was clearly skinny.

He went to the second room and luckily found a complete set of equipment he could use: clothes that fit him well, even underwear. He also found men’s perfume, but the room was quite bizarre, things were scattered everywhere, as if aliens or ghosts had come in to cause some chaos overnight, and then everyone just vanished.

With a mix of whimsical guesses and nervousness, he quickly took off his clothes and pants. After a moment’s thought, he even stripped down to his underwear, grabbed the perfume, and sprayed it all over himself. He was freezing in the cold weather, but to deal with the police, he had to leave no trace. He decided to burn all the clothes and pants that had his scent on them. He wasn’t entirely sure how the police investigated cases, so he had to be extra cautious – unfortunately, he didn’t have time, otherwise, he would’ve taken a bath, because he’d heard that dogs wouldn’t be able to track scent if the target had been in water.

He finished spraying his upper body and was about to spray the perfume between his legs when, “Bang!” The door burst open, someone shouted in broken Chinese, “Don’t move!” The fat man suddenly raised his head, his entire body froze, the black figure holding a gun at the door seemed to be stunned for a moment, looking at the naked fat man who was spraying perfume on his lower body.

The two of them stood there, staring at each other for two seconds. The black figure at the door finally reacted, waving his gun, alert to whether anyone else was in the room, then slowly walked towards the fat man, his face full of suspicion.

At the same time, two black figures emerged from the bushes twenty meters away from the front of the house, and they walked past the fat man. Jia Ming casually raised the gun with a silencer and pulled the trigger.

“Bang!” A muffled sound. The fat man saw the most bizarre, disgusting, terrifying, and indescribable scene of his life. Right in front of him, the man’s head exploded like a watermelon. The bullet grazed his head, hair, skull fragments mixed with countless viscous substances flew everywhere, covering him head to toe, then the body collapsed towards him. He subconsciously raised his hands, just in time to brace himself against the man’s head, and his hands were instantly filled with disgusting squirming…

    Gulp…

    Ugh…

    “Ah!!!”

A terrifying shriek shattered the stillness of the night. The fat man’s eyes bulged, he waved his arms, and charged out of the door like a tank! As he ran wildly, he screamed uncontrollably.

Jia Ming had been startled by the shout and was about to fire another shot, but seeing the fat, naked figure charging out of the door, both figures in the bushes froze. They watched him run further and further away. After a long time, Dongfang Lu mumbled, “This… what is this?”

    “Obviously, a man… um, running naked…”

    “Uh, I know that… but why now…”

“Since there are two men in the room, it’s obvious… the one I shot is gay, this should be a rape case… there are a lot of homosexuals in the mercenaries, didn’t Chen Gu Xia tell you?”

    “Uh… no…”

“You should study more, broaden your horizons…”

    “Uh…”
