The lights flickered, the ceiling and walls shook violently. Exploding glass rained down from the ceiling, and a huge crystal chandelier crashed from above. The students, held hostage, were in chaos, scattering in all directions. After Yu Jin Xiang’s disruption and the huge explosion, few mercenaries had the time or energy to control the hostages anymore. After all, there were still over a thousand hostages locked up in the teaching building, guarding the entrances and exits.

The explosion damaged most of the electrical system. The students in the hall, like an ant colony, ran in all directions. Taking advantage of the chaos, Dongfang Lu rushed in, stopping every student he could recognize, asking about his sister’s whereabouts. Most said they hadn’t seen her, or simply ignored him. But when he stopped the 15th student, the panicked girl, who had secretly admired him for a long time, finally gave him some useful information.

“Xiao Wan… We were going to escape through the back door together. When we reached the corridor, we saw someone with a gun. We were scared and separated. Xiao Wan seemed to be trying to hide in the Prop Room #3 behind us, wearing a doll costume. I ran back. Luckily, the guy didn’t chase me. Waaah… Dongfang Lu, what should we do now…”

“Find a place to hide, wait for things to settle down… They won’t have time to care about those who are hiding now… Don’t hold onto me…”

    “Waaah, don’t leave…”

    “Don’t hold onto me…”

    “Waaah…”

    “Please don’t hold onto me!”

Looking down at the scene, Zhushen Wunian went straight up to the fourth floor. The entire floor was enveloped in a thick gray smoke. The windows had been blown out, and wind gushed in from all sides, roaring through the corridors and rooms. Many places were already on fire, burning fiercely. A few battered mercenaries stumbled around, clearly showing that Yu Jin Xiang had left from here.

With a sullen expression, he glanced around. Everything set up here had been destroyed, and Naka was probably dead. He had rushed here when he heard about the emergency, but it was too late. Even if the other party was quick, they shouldn’t have gone far yet. He turned around to go downstairs, but just as he was on the upper level of the hall’s platform, he spotted Dongfang Lu below. Two figures, a man and a woman, were pulling at each other, running toward the back door of the hall.

Right now, tracking Yu Jin Xiang was his top priority. The guy who had tricked him and then escaped wasn’t that important, but… since he could get Chen Gu Xia to risk his life for rescue… Zhushen Wunian waved to a mercenary behind him, indicating, “Grab the guy down there. He’ll be a valuable hostage for you.”

The mercenary nodded and chased after them with his gun.

    “Cough, cough…”

A few rays of light filtered through the sparse ornamental trees. With a cough, two girls, supporting each other, staggered along the forest path. Blood flowed from the cold girl’s arm. The other, with a dirty face and a determined expression, frowned, her left leg moving awkwardly, and she spoke weakly.

“Xun… What happened to us just now? We didn’t set the bomb in that house… How could it…”

“I… learned about bombs from Gu Jun at school…”

    “Uh… Jia Ming…”

“That building was empty, Gu Jun had gotten permission from Teacher Zhang, so we could put all kinds of things in there.” Xun, staring ahead, said calmly, and after a moment, continued, “Not only the alcohol and disinfectant for making simple bombs, but also some black powder and nitroglycerin…”

On this moonless night, all the noise seemed distant. On this small path, Xun’s voice, seemingly indifferent to everything, echoed faintly, like a voice slowly sinking into a well, giving a strange feeling of gradually sinking into the water. Sha Sha opened her mouth, but couldn’t say anything. The feelings churning in her heart were indescribable.

Ever since Jia Ming had confessed his killer background to her and Ling Jing, the two girls had secretly discussed it many times. They finally decided not to question Jia Ming about it. This idea didn’t come from the gentle and considerate Ling Jing, but from Sha Sha, whose father had a criminal background. Because of this decision, the three of them lived their lives, and Jia Ming, in the hearts of the two girls, was still mostly the ordinary boy they had known since childhood – somewhat slow, but also considerate, a boy they had grown up with, playing together.

Besides becoming even more reliable at crucial moments, he was still the same boy who always lost in their games, who always gave in to their whims, who would do the laundry and cooking, who would wake up every morning in winter to make breakfast. He was still their childhood… shared boyfriend.

Even thinking about their current relationship, Sha Sha and Ling Jing didn’t feel that Jia Ming had taken advantage of them too much. After all, he was too easygoing in front of them. The accident that happened earlier wasn’t his fault. They had just forcefully gotten together with him. Because they were too familiar with each other, they weren’t so much a weird group of boyfriend and two girlfriends as they were equal siblings, or perhaps brother and sisters would be more accurate. In the eyes of the two girls, it was perhaps Jia Ming who made more concessions and compromises – but they never thought that because they slept with him, it meant he was taking advantage of them.

This was why, for Sha Sha and Ling Jing, the concept of Jia Ming being a killer didn’t have a very concrete image. On the Xingmeng Hao, even though Ling Jing had participated, since Jia Ming was always by her side, when she thought about it later, it felt more like a trip. The bloodiness of Jia Ming’s killing was faint and intangible. However, now, with Jia Ming not by their side, after this night of killing, such a huge explosion, and Xun’s words, Sha Sha suddenly felt the mystery and power hidden in the darkness of Jia Ming’s figure, even a bit out of touch with the real world.

He was an ordinary student in daily life, a considerate boy in front of them, their childhood friend. Yet, he was secretly teaching them all these violent things related to killing – knives, guns, explosions, even defeating the world’s best killer. It felt strange. But thinking back, forcing him to buy groceries, playing games and watching TV at home, chasing him around with a pillow, and then winning triumphantly, felt really good…

With mixed feelings, Sha Sha suppressed the pain in her leg, and a smile involuntarily appeared at the corner of her mouth.

At the same time, Xun’s body suddenly stiffened. The next moment, she pushed Sha Sha toward the bushes ahead, turning and waving in mid-air.

    “Go!”

    “Bang!”

    “Pfft!”

A bullet whizzed past her, severing a branch of the tree next to her with a shot. At the same time, the flying dagger turned into a flash of cold light, the giant chasing after them dodged to the side, and the dagger pierced deep into the tree trunk behind him.

Gunshots rang out continuously in the darkness. The figures flickered, and Xun charged straight at the giant chasing them. At full speed, she dodged two shots, and then, with a double-handed block against the heavy fist that followed, her fingers, like orchids, extended, directly grabbing the giant’s wrist.

“Brush!” With a sound, Xun’s body paused, her body involuntarily rotating.

A painful sweetness filled her chest and throat, and dizziness caused by suffocation filled her head. She had underestimated the opponent’s strength. Even though they were both injured, even though she had properly deflected the force, she still shouldn’t have taken that punch head-on. Her body spun involuntarily, she instinctively swung her arm, pulling out the dagger from the tree trunk behind her at the same time the giant was turning the gun barrel toward her, and delivered a smooth cut.

Blood spurted from the tank’s gun-holding arm, the gun flew out of his hand, and at the same time, his knee slammed into the girl’s abdomen, who had lost her balance, kicking her flying.

From the initial gunshot, to the later charge, dodge, punch, swing of the knife, knee strike, to the girl flying out, and the gun falling, it took only two or three seconds. Xun slammed against another tree trunk nearby, spitting out blood. The tank was about to charge over, but Sha Sha had already rushed over from the side.

He had been cut on his right arm, but he casually blocked with his left hand, catching two straight punches that were stronger than those of his peers but couldn’t do him any harm. The next moment, the girl, without hesitation, pulled out the leather belt from her waist, and the iron buckle smashed directly at his head.

Normally, such an attack would be a joke to the tank, but after being injured in the explosion, he faced Sha Sha, who was the least injured out of the three people present, and for a moment, he could only dodge clumsily. The corner of the belt buckle brushed across his forehead, drawing a spray of blood, and then wrapped around his arm. Sha Sha wanted to kick him between the legs, but as the tank angrily swung his fist, she took a blow to her face, and the whole person flew out.

A burning pain came from her forehead. Sha Sha hadn’t even hit the ground before Xun, spitting blood, jumped up in front of her, picked up a broken branch nearby, and swung it. “Bang!” The branch broke in the opponent’s hands, and taking advantage of this moment, Xun turned and pulled Sha Sha up, staggering into the darkness ahead.

Taking two steps forward, the tank turned back, picked up the dropped gun, and then followed closely.
