Hidden Assassin 258
by adminThe phone was rolling around on the bed, looking like Ya Han and her stepmother were having a long phone call. Ya Han shook her head silently, gesturing a few times before going to another room. After a while, the female boss, Monica, brought over some food. She pushed a small trolley that looked quite professional and knocked on Jia Ming’s door. Jia Ming was still wearing the same clothes, but he had obviously showered.
“You finished showering so quickly?” Ya Han said.
“Combat shower.” Jia Ming replied with a smile, reaching out to lift the lid of the trolley. The aroma of food wafted out – savory steak, eggs, croissants, creamy corn soup, and coffee, all in duplicate. “Such a lavish breakfast.”
“It’s probably the lunch standard.” Ya Han still wore a thick bathrobe and shrugged with a smile, “So, do you need anything else? Guest?”
“Well, I need a beautiful woman to eat with me to make it perfect. A teacher would be ideal.”
“As you wish.” Ya Han nodded, her smile radiant. She pushed the trolley in. “But why a teacher?”
“I’m a student, you know, uniform temptation… Ahem, ahem…”
“Go to hell!”
Laughing, she kicked out, just for show, naturally she wouldn’t actually hit Jia Ming, but she exerted a bit too much force, and her slipper flew out. Jia Ming caught it with a flick of his hand. “Wow,” he said, as she stood on the rug with bare feet.
“Give me my shoe… Um… Uh…”
Her subconscious words hadn’t finished before Jia Ming naturally leaned down, grabbed her bare white ankle, and put her slipper back on. Ya Han immediately quieted down. She didn’t know why, but the place where Jia Ming was touching her felt numb and tingling. When Jia Ming turned back and pulled open the room’s curtains, she twisted her foot a few times on the rug and pushed the trolley over. As the curtains opened, it was a similar view to the other side, a balcony with a snowy scene, the sky light shining in. A small table was placed in the room, with two chairs facing each other on either side. She took a deep breath.
“Uh… It’s so beautiful. How long will we stay here, Jia Ming?”
“I don’t know. Maybe a day or two.”
“I just called my stepmother, she said the plane finally stopped. It might be stopped for several days.”
“It seems you’re already in love with this place.”
As they chatted and laughed, the two sat down on the chairs, eating. They had both slept poorly and hadn’t eaten, so they were both wolfing down the food. However, when Ya Han saw Jia Ming devour most of his food in three bites, she smiled, cut half a piece of steak, and handed him two pieces of bread.
“Oh, you’re a glutton.” She mumbled through a mouthful of corn soup.
“Then I won’t be polite.”
Even though the other party had pushed half of his food towards her, Jia Ming still quickly finished his share. As he sat there drinking coffee, Ya Han slowed down her pace, asking a question. “You said this morning that two of your friends are in trouble here…”
“Well, their families are mobsters.” Jia Ming nodded casually, briefly mentioning the New York mob, the conflict between the Gambino and the Salieri families. “If it’s just temporary, it’s actually easy to settle. You know, I’m an assassin. I can just find a place to bang John Damico and the Gambino will be in chaos for half a year…”
When she was disguised as Jian Suyan, she was aloof, ruthless, and when she talked about these things, it might be very intimidating. But now, her ordinary appearance combined with her joking expression, Ya Han felt no tension at all, yet she knew the other party was telling the truth. In her strange mood, she burst into laughter. “Cut it out, you don’t look like an assassin right now, people would think you’re playing games.”
“Well, there’s no way around it. This kind of disguise is the best. And it’s a natural performance…” He touched his nose. “But this method only solves the symptoms, not the root cause. Actually, the Gambino is not so bad, I’m worried about…”
“That Pei Luo Jia?”
“…” Jia Ming froze for a moment, then snapped his fingers and laughed, “Bullseye. Actually, according to the current situation, it wouldn’t be difficult for Pei Luo Jia to find out that they’re my friends. But Pei Luo Jia’s situation now… He he, Castro gave Zhuang Ami a lot of power back then. Now that Castro is dead, Zhuang should be the actual administrator of North America. He likes reading ‘The Art of War,’ and North America will definitely try to regain its strength, so if I leave, he won’t always want revenge. Of course, he might curse me every day… Um, he’ll curse Yu Jin Xiang…”
Since he had decided to tell Ya Han about this, Jia Ming didn’t hide anything. This wasn’t a big, dark secret. Besides, Ya Han was different from Lingjing and Sha Sha. For those two girls, he wanted to protect them, but for Ya Han, he had always been friends with her on an equal footing. His abilities weren’t really that strong, he just had technology that was twenty years ahead of its time and an understanding of the current batch of assassins. His killing skills actually came from his initial desire to survive. He handled things according to his previous experience. He was not really a killer, but more like a professional who handles problems. He was still a bit lacking in terms of reaction, innovation, and creativity, he was just an ordinary person at best, even Ya Han could tell that. Furthermore, having a friend in this world who could say anything and everything, that feeling was really good.

“Then, can’t you ask that Wonder of Creation to keep an eye on them?” Ya Han asked in confusion.
“It seems like the only way. Right now, it’s the Wonder of Creation that’s suppressing Pei Luo Jia. The Wisdom Kingdom is too deeply connected to the FBI and the US National Security Agency, it’s basically a balance of power, so if the Wonder of Creation can provide some protection, according to Zhuang’s cautious nature, nothing major should happen.” Jia Ming nodded and smiled, “But… I really don’t want to get involved with these organizations…”
Ya Han finished her last bit of steak and took a sip of soup. “You sound like an old man…”
“It’s a favor, it’s hard to repay later. I really don’t want to get involved in this kind of thing, but some things are just beyond my control…” He smiled wryly.
Ya Han furrowed her brow, “What should we do then… Ask the Yan Huang Jue Xing for help, you owe them a favor, then the Yan Huang Jue Xing owes the Wonder of Creation a favor, the two of them unite, then Pei Luo Jia won’t dare to touch them. You said Yan Huang Jue Xing is pretty good.”
“Owing them a favor means joining them in the end. But that’s not important, the important thing is…” Jia Ming took a sip of coffee. “My teacher told me that even in death, never join any organization in this life, never be ordered around by anyone. Actually, his treatment in Pei Luo Jia was already very good. He didn’t have to do much, he had free time to dispose of as he wished, he could do anything… But he still defected, probably for freedom…”
It seemed that Ya Han was affected by some of the emotions in Jia Ming’s words. She smiled, thinking of no good solution, and after a while, she asked, “What exactly is your relationship with those two women… I’m asking for Lingjing and Sha Sha!”
Jia Ming smiled, “I saved them a few years ago, and we met. One is thirty years old, and the other is her daughter, she just turned fourteen this year. What are you thinking about? He he, they are just good friends…”
Hearing Jia Ming say this, Ya Han finally felt relieved. She couldn’t help but tease him a few times. The two of them joked for a while, then cleaned up the tableware and pushed it out the door as Monica had said. Since they hadn’t slept well last night, they both needed to catch up on their sleep. After saying good morning at the door, Jia Ming returned to his room. The door behind him was pushed open again, Ya Han stood outside looking at him. Then, in three quick steps, she rushed in front of him, her face flushed.
“Wh-what’s wrong…” Jia Ming took a step back, subconsciously turning sideways to be on guard.
“I… Um… I…” She stammered, taking a deep breath, “Um… My wallet… It seems to be here… Ah… Ah… Not here… Well, I got it wrong. Bye, good morning, sleep well…”
With a series of ‘poof’, Ya Han ran out again, probably after two seconds, she charged back to the door, smiling and closing the door of Jia Ming’s room, leaving Jia Ming standing there dumbfounded, rolling his eyes.
Outside, Ya Han, wearing a thick white bathrobe, stood there blankly for a while, then pursed her lips, puffed out her cheeks, and gave herself a light slap in annoyance. “Idiot, infatuated… You’re sick…”
She pushed open the door and rushed to the bed in three steps, pulled up the covers, and wriggled around for a while, then reached out and threw the bathrobe she had taken off to the floor beside the bed. She turned her head and closed her eyes, but after a while, she turned to the other side, the light from the window sill was too dazzling.
She did this a few times back and forth, then got out of bed wrapped in a blanket, and hopped over to the window to close the curtains. With a jump and a turn, she crashed to the ground, blanket and all. Her bare upper body was exposed from the blanket.
The room was warm enough and nobody would see her, so she angrily pulled up the blanket, and after a long time, she wriggled back to the soft bed like a caterpillar. However, she tossed and turned, and for a while, she couldn’t fall asleep.
“Zhang Yahán, you’re dead…”
In the dimness, a woman’s soft mumbling could be heard. In the other room, Jia Ming was lying in bed, already in deep sleep.
About two hours later, Ya Han on this side had also fallen asleep. Jia Ming opened his eyes, got up, the time was noon…
