Hogwarts: This Wizard is Unscientific 10
by adminChapter 10: Andy: I Seem to Have Met My Match
The last few days before school started, Andy didn’t continue practicing magic; instead, he spent his time with his family, having a blast with Isabelle for two days.
September 1st.
Andy slept in as usual, then was woken up by Helen’s angry voice and forcibly dragged out of bed by little Isabelle.
Shambling downstairs in his pajamas, Andy greeted his family sleepily, “Good morning.”
“Andy, this won’t do,”
Kyle had already finished breakfast. “If you keep sleeping in at Hogwarts, you’ll be late for class.”
Andy sat down at the table in a daze, slapping his face to try and wake himself up. “Don’t worry, I brought an alarm clock.”
Sleeping in was a dream from Andy’s past life and a habit in his current one.
“Being late for class is his own problem; the school professors will take care of him,” Helen said ungraciously. If there was anything about her son that didn’t quite satisfy her, it was probably this sleeping-in habit.
After breakfast, Andy took a shower and changed into clean clothes.
His luggage had been packed the previous night. After checking and finding nothing missing, Andy carried his suitcase, clanging down to the living room on the first floor.
Kyle was sitting on the sofa reading the newspaper; he’d taken half a day off.
This was Andy’s first day of school; he didn’t want to miss such an important moment.
“Wasn’t Gringotts robbed? It’s been so long, why hasn’t the Daily Prophet reported it yet?” Andy glanced at the newspaper, then leaned against the sofa, losing interest.
Rustle!
Kyle turned a page of the newspaper, saying in a seasoned tone, “Son, that’s the allure of Galleons.”
Cornelius Fudge only became the Minister of Magic last year. Everyone in the magical world knows he was only in his position thanks to Dumbledore’s support; he was Dumbledore’s puppet.
And this is the result?
Was this Dumbledore’s intention, or did he misjudge the man?
Thinking of a certain Defence Against the Dark Arts professor (Snape), Andy suddenly realized that Dumbledore might be suffering from senility.
After all, he was over a hundred years old.
The legal retirement age in the Muggle world is sixty, and Dumbledore is over a hundred, yet he’s still working. What kind of perseverance is that?
Dawdling around the house until ten o’clock, Andy’s family of four took the Knight Bus to King’s Cross Station.
The Knight Bus experience was excellent; it could take you anywhere you wanted to go, traversing mountains and fields as if on level ground, and it was even more exciting than a roller coaster.
This bus was Andy and Isabelle’s favorite.
The station was bustling with people at this time. Andy and his family came to the wall between platforms nine and ten.
“Let’s go, dear.”
Helen held Isabelle’s hand, waiting for Andy and Kyle to run through the wall before taking her daughter through as well.
The two sides of a wall were two completely different worlds. People on the other side probably never imagined that there was a group of magical wizards living alongside them, right?
The Hogwarts Express was a deep red Victorian-era steam train, looking quite old-fashioned.
However, Andy really couldn’t associate this train with the word “Express.”
Was it faster than a green train?
Let alone a high-speed rail.
The platform was full of parents seeing their children off to school, dressed in various styles of strange costumes, looking quirky.
Some young wizards even brought pets; Andy noticed a round-faced young wizard carrying a toad as a pet.
Goodness! Can that creature actually be petted?
“Get on the train, there should still be some empty compartments at this time.”
Helen said reluctantly, “Remember to write to us when you get to school.”
“Got it! Goodbye, Dad, Mom, and Izzy, see you at Christmas.”
Andy waved goodbye to his family, and lightly tapped his wand at his suitcase.
“Wingardium Leviosa!”
The suitcase flew up and followed Andy. Andy boarded the train, walked through the corridor, and found an empty compartment.
After putting away his suitcase, Andy opened the compartment window to have a final farewell with his family.
“Go back, I’m going to take a nap; I woke up too early this morning,” Andy waved his hand.
“How much longer do you want to sleep? Do you want us to wait for you on an empty stomach?” Helen said ungraciously.
“Okay, okay!”
Kyle chuckled, “Then we’ll go back, see you at Christmas.”
“Goodbye, Andy.”
Isabelle looked at Andy reluctantly, saying fiercely, “You must write to me when you get to school!”
“I know! I’ll definitely write to you.”
After his family left, Andy closed the window and closed his eyes to rest.
Rustle!
The compartment door opened, and a brown-haired girl carrying a large suitcase stood at the doorway.
“Can I sit here?”
The brown-haired girl raised her chin, “Hello, I’m Hermione Granger. May I ask who you are?”
Andy: “…”
“Please, it’s just me here. Oh! Almost forgot to introduce myself, I’m Andy, Andy Collins.” Andy said.
“Nice to meet you, Mr. Collins.” Hermione nodded, walking into the compartment with her suitcase.
“Just call me Andy.”
Hermione’s suitcase was huge. Seeing her struggling to carry it, Andy pulled out his wand and whispered a spell.
“Wingardium Leviosa!”
This was perhaps the biggest gain from Andy’s more than a month of hard magic practice—no matter what problem he encountered, Andy would always pull out his wand to solve it immediately.
This was a good habit, and Andy decided to keep it up.
“A very neat Levitation Charm, thank you, you can call me Hermione.”
Hermione sat opposite Andy, raising her chin, proud like a swan. “Are you a first-year student too?”
Andy looked up to answer.
Then he heard Hermione continue like a machine gun, “I’ve tried a few simple spells at home, just for practice, and they all worked.”
“No one in my family knows magic, so when I received my acceptance letter, I was extremely surprised but also very happy… I’ve memorized all the textbooks, of course, I just hope this will be useful…”
Andy didn’t pay much attention to what Hermione said later. When Andy heard the words ‘I’ve memorized all the textbooks’, he knew he had met his match.
So, the novel “Hermione Granger and Her Two Useless Men” is real?
Andy had seen the textbooks; let alone memorizing the whole book, even memorizing a section felt strenuous to him.
“You’re amazing.”
Andy said sincerely, “I can’t do that. I can’t memorize those textbooks at all, so I can only practice magic, and I’ve practiced each spell thousands of times. Of course, I hope this will be useful too.”
