Hogwarts: This Wizard is Unscientific 103
by adminChapter 103: Intimidating an Eleven-Year-Old
Andy’s presence was a complicated thing for Malfoy. He had risen to prominence because of Andy’s plan, but that same plan had also led to a brutal revenge from Quirrell. During his convalescence in the hospital wing, Malfoy had done some soul-searching. Had he been used? On one hand, he felt Andy hadn’t thought that far ahead; after all, at the beginning of the school year, nobody knew Quirrell was evil. On the other hand, he suspected Andy’s pushing him to the forefront was inherently malicious.
Seeing Andy smiling and nodding at him, Malfoy felt utterly confused.
“Heh…”
Andy chuckled softly, tilting his head at Malfoy, a gesture suggesting a private conversation.
Malfoy: …
“I’m going out for a bit.”
After a brief greeting to Hermione, Andy stood, glancing at Malfoy before leaving the Great Hall.
Malfoy’s face darkened. If he didn’t go out, it would make him look like he was afraid of Andy.
The Great Hall was on the ground floor. Andy exited the castle, finding a secluded, empty spot. After a short wait, Malfoy hesitantly approached.
“What do you want?” Malfoy asked dryly.
“I want to know if you have your memories from a while ago,” Andy said, getting straight to the point. “After Quirrell attacked you, your memory must have been altered, right?”
“How do you know?” Malfoy’s face changed.
Andy smiled. “Don’t be nervous, I’m just purely curious. I’m a Ravenclaw; it’s perfectly normal to have a thirst for knowledge, isn’t it?”
What’s so curious about that?
Malfoy felt mocked.
“Collins, were you deliberately trying to do this?” Malfoy asked, his face reddening.
“This is serious academic research,” Andy said seriously. “In the wizarding world, there aren’t many examples of people having their memories altered.” Especially those who survived the alteration, those are even rarer.
“That’s not what I’m talking about,” Malfoy said angrily. “I’m asking if you deliberately made me get rid of Quirrell.”
“Of course, I did it on purpose. Didn’t we exchange notes?” Andy looked at Malfoy in surprise, then realized, “Oh, I didn’t expect Quirrell to be evil either. I thought he was just an incompetent professor.”
Malfoy’s expression softened slightly. Looking back at Quirrell’s stammering, who would have thought he was a Death Eater?
“Tell me, do you still have your previous memories? What does it feel like to have your memory altered?” Andy asked again.
“Why should I tell you?” Malfoy’s face flushed; he felt offended.
Of course, Malfoy had another secret he couldn’t reveal. In his altered memory, his father, Lucius Malfoy, was a Death Eater, and he himself was a zealous young Death Eater. He came to Hogwarts to steal the Philosopher’s Stone to resurrect the Dark Lord.
Andy looked around, seemingly casually remarking, “Malfoy, do you know why I brought you here?”
Malfoy looked around nervously, his face slightly pale. “Collins, what do you mean? This is Hogwarts; I don’t believe you dare attack me!”
Andy quickly drew his wand.
“Petrificus Totalus!”
A beam of magic flew out, sending Malfoy flying backward, his body stiff and immobile.
Andy looked down at Malfoy, tilting his head, and said in a nonchalant tone, “See? I dare.”
Andy wasn’t intentionally bullying the kid. He saw through Malfoy’s petty schemes at a glance. Often, conflicts start from small things and gradually become irreconcilable. Like Harry and Malfoy in the original story. Their initial conflict stemmed from a failed friendship.
Andy wasn’t afraid of Malfoy, but his father, Lucius Malfoy, held significant influence in the British wizarding world. If Malfoy went home and complained, it would inevitably cause trouble. Andy’s father, Kyle Collins, worked at the Ministry of Magic, and Andy didn’t want his actions at school to affect his father’s job. Therefore, intimidating Malfoy was necessary.
Of course, Andy was genuinely curious about the feeling of having one’s memory altered. Memory magic was extremely advanced in all magical systems.
Andy continued, “Are you thinking I wouldn’t dare kill you? Or are you thinking of telling Professor Snape, or your father?”
Malfoy’s body was rigid; his expression and eyes didn’t change. But this little kid’s thoughts were too easy to guess.
“You’re right, I wouldn’t dare attack you at school.”
Hearing this, Malfoy felt relieved, immediately thinking about how he would get revenge on Andy later.
Before Malfoy could come up with a good idea, Andy continued, “But we’ll graduate eventually, wouldn’t you agree?”
“You wouldn’t want to live in constant fear of my attacks, would you?”
Malfoy’s heart tightened.
Andy knew this little trick might scare Malfoy for a while, but the characteristic of a spoiled brat was that they never learned their lesson. Andy decided to strike hard. “I’m only interested in magic. What’s the difference between witches and wizards and Muggles? Why do wizards have magic?”
“Maybe… only by dissecting a few witches, wizards, and Muggles can I answer that question.”
“Memory magic is the same. If you don’t tell me, then I’ll have to catch a few wizards and experiment on them.”
While speaking, Andy kept staring at Malfoy. The look in his eyes seemed to say: if you don’t tell me, I’ll use you for experiments.
“Finite Incantatem!”
Andy released the Petrificus Totalus, his eyes filled with a kind of fanaticism. “Malfoy, I hope you can answer my magical questions.”
Malfoy’s face was pale, and he was close to tears. “I… I…”
He wanted to say: my father is a governor, I’m going to tell my father. But seeing Andy’s fanatical demeanor, Malfoy swallowed his words.
As the saying goes, the brazen fear the reckless, and the reckless fear the desperate. When had Malfoy, this pampered rich kid, ever been intimidated like this? Even Quirrell wasn’t as terrifying as Andy.
The mad scientist persona was sometimes quite intimidating.
“Gulp!”
Malfoy swallowed, his hands supporting him as he backed away. He wanted to call for help, but Andy’s wand was pointed at him.
Malfoy thought about using his own wand to fight back, but he couldn’t find a spell in his memory to deal with this situation.
“You wouldn’t want to offend me… Malfoy?”
Andy looked sideways at Malfoy. “As long as you tell me honestly, I won’t bother you… How about that?”
