Chapter 20: I Shall Swim in the Ocean of Knowledge

Twelve o’clock sharp, the two-hour Potions class finally ended.

All the young witches and wizards fled the classroom as if their lives depended on it. Only when they were far away did they collectively breathe a sigh of relief, gulping down large breaths of fresh air.

“That was terrifying! I didn’t dare look at Professor Snape. He was standing right next to me, and I felt like I was about to die!” a Hufflepuff student exclaimed, looking like they’d just escaped a near-death experience.

    The others nodded in agreement.

“The good news is, we don’t have Potions this week!” a Ravenclaw student said cheerfully.

    This was indeed good news.

Especially since they were about to have lunch. Upon hearing this, they felt they could eat a whole extra bowl.

    “Hmph! They’re being too much,”

Hermione and Andy walked side-by-side behind the crowd. Hermione said indignantly, “Professor Snape is so serious and responsible, tirelessly pointing out their mistakes. Even though he’s strict, they shouldn’t say such things!”

    Andy glanced at Hermione.

*Good thing you didn’t go to Gryffindor, otherwise you might have burned Snape’s robes.*

“You think so too, right?” Hermione tried to secure an ally.

    “Ah, yeah!”

Andy said absentmindedly, “Don’t be angry. They’ll understand Professor Snape’s good qualities when they’re older.”

    “You’re right!”

Hermione nodded in agreement, then looked at Andy strangely, “What are you thinking about?”

    “Nothing.”

Andy said, “Let’s go eat. After lunch, I’m going to the library to read.”

“I want to go to the library too! I heard Hogwarts has the largest collection of books in all of Britain.” Hermione’s face lit up with longing at the mention of the library.

“Not just Britain, but the entire European wizarding world.”

Andy explained, “Hogwarts is the first magic school established in the global wizarding world, with a history of over a thousand years.”

“It holds the largest collection of magical books in the entire wizarding world.”

Hermione curiously asked, “Are there many other magic schools around the globe?”

    “Of course!”

Andy said, “I don’t know the specifics, but there are over a dozen famous schools, and many more less well-known ones.”

As they spoke, Andy and Hermione reached the Great Hall on the first floor.

    “Hey! Andy.”

Ron and Harry were playing Wizard’s Chess at the Gryffindor table. Ron, with his sharp eyes, spotted Andy immediately.

“You finished class so early?” Andy walked over, surprised.

“We didn’t have classes this morning.”

Ron said, “But we have Herbology with Hufflepuff this afternoon, and History of Magic in the evening.”

Harry curiously asked, “What classes did you have this morning?”

He actually wanted to ask what it was like to have classes at a magic school, but he felt a little embarrassed—after all, he wasn’t very familiar with Andy.

“We had two Potions classes this morning.” Andy said.

    “Snape’s class!”

Ron looked like he had a big secret. “I heard from George that Snape favors Slytherin. He didn’t do anything to you in class, did he?”

    “It was alright!”

Andy didn’t want to lie to him, “I think Professor Snape is strict, but he’s very knowledgeable. Maybe George was just scaring you, they do that often.”

Ron half-believed him, but Harry felt Professor Snape disliked him—on the Sorting Day, Snape’s gaze was very strange.

“Okay, I’m going to eat now. I’ll go to the library to read later.”

Andy waved to them and turned towards the Ravenclaw table.

Ron shrugged, “Andy has loved reading since he was little. We’re neighbors, and every time I went to his house, he was always reading in his study.”

Harry looked back at Andy, but Andy had already sat at the Ravenclaw table, talking to a brown-haired witch.

Ron followed Harry’s gaze, but wasn’t surprised at all. “They’re the same type of people—I mean, they both love reading.”

At the Ravenclaw table, Andy chatted happily with Hermione.

Originally, Andy had been quite worried.

He knew Ron, and he wondered how to subtly distance himself from the Golden Trio once they got to Hogwarts.

    Until just now…

Children often find it hard to hide their emotions. While chatting with Ron just now, Andy keenly noticed that Ron clearly preferred chatting with Harry.

Right! A bookworm and a slacker are from two completely different worlds.

One only cares about playing, the other only cares about studying.

After lunch, Hermione couldn’t wait to go to the library to expand her knowledge.

Andy readily agreed, because his time was precious.

Seven years seems a long time, but to read all the books in Hogwarts would be an impossible task.

Having the good fortune to come to the magical world, Andy naturally wanted to dedicate all his energy to the study of magic.

This was what Andy wanted, and it also involved Andy’s system.

Only by diligently improving his talents could Andy become stronger within the limited time.

    ……

The Hogwarts library was located on the second floor of the castle, and it housed the most complete collection of magical books in the entire European wizarding world. From casual reading material to various profound forbidden spells, it had everything.

Seeing the library for the first time, Andy was stunned by the sheer volume of books.

The library had thousands of bookshelves, hundreds of narrow aisles, and each shelf held thousands of magical books. Here, you could find all the magic you wanted to learn.

Andy couldn’t wait to swim in this ocean of knowledge.

“What are you planning to read?” Hermione asked.

Andy and Hermione walked one after the other through the narrow aisles between the bookshelves—there were too many books, and neither of them knew where to start.

    “Something related to Charms!”

Andy needed to improve his Charms, Transfiguration, Dark Arts, Alchemy, and Divination skills to increase his system’s potential points.

Dark Arts were off the table for now.

The British wizarding world had just experienced the devastation of Lord Voldemort, and the environment was very hostile towards Dark Arts. Anything related to Dark Arts was considered evil.

Even if Andy wanted to learn Dark Arts, he could only study it secretly alone and couldn’t let anyone find out.

Besides, Alchemy was too advanced, and Divination… Andy had zero talent in this area, even if he wanted to learn, he’d have to add talent first.

In comparison, Charms had many branches, and he could improve his abilities through hard work, which would also increase his system’s potential points—a win-win situation.

“How about this book?” Hermione pulled out a book and asked.
