Chapter 36: Slicing is the Future of Magic

The Ministry of Magic has many flaws, but Andy has no intention of overthrowing it and declaring himself king. After all, becoming the third Dark Lord isn’t exactly a walk in the park.

Besides, Andy dislikes managing others, especially in the wizarding world—it’s such a waste of time.

    Andy prefers researching magic.

Since transmigrating to this world, Andy has had only one dream: to reach the pinnacle of magical knowledge.

The Ministry of Magic’s existence does effectively manage the wizarding world, preventing its exposure to Muggles.

However, the Ministry’s shortcomings are undeniable.

Just look at those young witches and wizards at Hogwarts!

Statistically speaking, at least 90% of Hogwarts students learn magic solely to secure a decent job after graduation.

What’s the difference between that and Muggles?

If the purpose of learning magic is just for work, they might as well live in the Muggle world; at least the standard of living is far superior there.

Of course, everyone has their own aspirations, and Andy won’t impose his ideals on others.

Having like-minded friends is great, but it’s not a necessity.

If possible, Andy wants to establish a magic laboratory, specializing in researching the nature of magic or experimenting with forbidden magic.

Imagine dissecting a wizard and observing his cellular structure under a microscope—might we discover something different from Muggles?

Or, when conducting a dangerous magic experiment, if a wizard were to ‘volunteer’ as a test subject, wouldn’t that mitigate some risks?

Of course, Andy isn’t a Dark Wizard; he wouldn’t randomly dissect a wizard or perform forbidden magic experiments on someone.

    Andy does have his limits!

But…what if the subject was a Dark Wizard or a Death Eater?

During the war, secretly taking care of a Death Eater or two shouldn’t be noticeable, right?

    Andy recalled.

There are seven *Harry Potter* books.

This means that when Harry is in his seventh year, it’s time for the final battle with Lord Voldemort.

Considering the preparation time for both sides, and the time it takes Voldemort to resurrect and gather his followers—Voldemort should have resurrected around Harry’s fourth or fifth year.

“That means I have four or five years to prepare,”

Andy thought to himself, “With the system’s help, if I diligently study magic, taking down a Death Eater secretly in four years should be manageable, right?”

A bludgeon, drag away, slice and dice—a complete service.

At this thought, Andy suddenly felt a little excited about Voldemort’s resurrection.

With Dumbledore and Harry drawing the main firepower, Andy could freely operate in the shadows.

For instance, that magic experiment involving magical erosion of the body—all that’s missing is a Death Eater ‘volunteering’ to be a subject.

Andy shook his head, temporarily dismissing these messy thoughts.

For now, Andy needs to diligently and steadily learn magic.

Around six in the afternoon, Andy and Hermione walked down the stairs to the first floor, heading to the Great Hall for dinner.

    “Excuse me, classmate!”

As they rounded a corner on the first floor, Andy and Hermione were stopped by a senior Slytherin student.

“Uh, hello, is there something you need?” Andy asked.

    “I’m Jon Abercrombie, a third-year Slytherin student.”

Abercrombie said, “We Slytherins are conducting a secret survey. Do you…approve of our Defence Against the Dark Arts professor, Professor Quirrell?”

Andy and Hermione exchanged glances. Here it comes.

    “Quirrell?”

Andy raised an eyebrow, his tone displeased. “Of course not! He just reads from the textbook. If someone like him can be a professor, then I can be a professor too!”

Hermione, equally indignant, added, “And the classroom smells awful.”

Abercrombie’s face lit up. “Then…if we had the chance to get rid of Professor Quirrell and have the school replace him with a competent professor…would you two younger students be willing?”

    “Absolutely!”

Andy immediately feigned eagerness. “What do we have to do?”

Abercrombie looked around, then mysteriously produced a parchment and handed it to Andy. “You two…just need to sign your names on this parchment. The rest—we’ll take care of it!”

Andy took it and examined it.

The parchment detailed Professor Quirrell’s various misdeeds, including but not limited to: stuttering, only reading from the textbook, complete lack of understanding of Defence Against the Dark Arts, not teaching students spells, not answering students’ questions, and the classroom reeking of a disgusting smell…

These were relatively normal, but then there were some unusual accusations.

For example: harassing female students, harassing male students, arbitrarily confiscating students’ belongings, suspected connections to Death Eaters, and even having served the Dark Lord…etc.!

    Wow!

In short, after reading Quirrell’s numerous crimes, Andy felt that even a lifetime in Azkaban wouldn’t be enough punishment.

He should have a Dementor give him a burning kiss.

The rest was fairly standard stuff.

Andy also saw some of the things he’d said to Malfoy on the parchment.

—”We will fight to the death to defend our right to learn!”

—”Hogwarts belongs to the wizarding world, and even more so to us students!”

—”We cannot let Quirrell waste our precious time! This is slow-motion murder!”

    It sounded very passionate.

Following this were countless student signatures. Andy glanced at them—only a few dozen signatures.

    This is awfully slow!

Before Andy could ask, Abercrombie explained, “Hundreds of students have already signed; this is just one copy.”

    Ah, I see!

The complaint had no problems. Andy happily signed his name and passed the complaint to Hermione.

Hermione hesitated for only a tenth of a second before signing her name.

“Abercrombie-senpai, this complaint letter—I mean, when will Quirrell finally leave Hogwarts?” Andy handed the letter back to Abercrombie, asking incidentally.

    “Probably this month?”

Abercrombie wasn’t certain. In Slytherin, he was just a gopher; he didn’t know how the purebloods were planning this.

But it shouldn’t be later than the end of the month.

    “I’m looking forward to it!”

Andy nodded and walked towards the Great Hall with Hermione.

Abercrombie retreated to a corner, quietly waiting for the next unsuspecting young witch or wizard to walk by.
