Chapter 38: Getting Rid of Quirrell is Everyone’s Wish

“No one wants to break that record!” Ron retorted loudly.

    Harry also looked ashamed.

Seeing this, George said with a chuckle, “But I have some good news for you. Your point deductions are old news; everyone’s focused on something else now.”

Harry curiously asked, “What is it?”

    “It’s a secret!” Fred said.

“But I guess Andy and Miss Granger already know,” George added.

Harry and Ron immediately turned their heads.

“That’s right, we’ve known for a while!” Hermione said with a smug look. Not only did she know, but she also knew who designed the plan.

Ron was completely baffled. “What the heck happened?”

“Don’t ask,” Fred said, putting an arm around Ron’s shoulder.

“Many people know this secret, but we won’t tell anyone who doesn’t already know,” George said.

    “Enjoy your dinner!”

Fred and George patted Harry and Ron, waved to Andy, and then swaggered off.

    “What secret is it?”

Ron was irritated. It felt like the whole world knew except him and Harry.

    What had they missed?

Harry turned to Andy and asked, “Andy, can’t you tell us?”

    “It’s not that I can’t tell you.”

Andy smirked mischievously. “People who know the secret can discuss it among themselves, but we won’t tell those who don’t.”

    Harry, Ron: …

Harry took a bite of his sausage. The usually delicious sausage tasted bland.

This feeling of ‘everyone knows but you’ was incredibly annoying.

He bet he’d be up all night.

Ron, feeling defiant, got up and went to Michael Corner, raising an eyebrow and asking, “Michael, do you know about that thing?”

Michael nodded. “You mean *that* thing? Of course I know. And I’ve already agreed.”

“Agreed to what?” Ron asked eagerly.

    “You don’t know?”

Michael eyed Ron cautiously, then waved his hand impatiently. “If you don’t know, don’t ask.”

    Ron: …

Ron wasn’t giving up. He asked a few more people he knew, but got basically the same answer.

Those who didn’t know were as curious as he was, while those who did know refused to reveal the secret.

After going around in circles, Ron dejectedly sat back down.

Andy and Hermione exchanged smiles. The whole situation was quite amusing.

Although there was no confidentiality charm, everyone seemed to implicitly understand; no one would tell the secret to those who didn’t know.

    That’s so Hogwarts!

However, no secret can be kept forever. Within a single night, the news that “Slytherin intends to get rid of Professor Quirrell” spread through Hogwarts at the speed of a Firebolt.

By the next morning, the younger witches and wizards were openly discussing it.

Regarding Slytherin’s actions, the younger witches and wizards had only four words to say: Well done!

No one at Hogwarts liked Professor Quirrell.

Many young witches and wizards were excited. Although the whole thing was spearheaded by Slytherin, it was the result of a collective effort by all the students.

Gryffindor might have dissenting opinions, but no one cared about their thoughts.

Because if the plan succeeded, Professor Quirrell would become the first professor in Hogwarts’ millennial history to be driven out by the student body.

    They would make history!

When Andy and Hermione arrived in the Great Hall, new news came from the Slytherin table—they had already sent the complaint letter.

A cheer erupted in the Great Hall.

Andy glanced at the Slytherin table. Malfoy was proudly telling something to those around him.

His animated expression showed just how pleased he was.

“Andy, let’s go!” Hermione tugged at Andy.

    “Yeah!” Andy nodded.

Ravenclaw was also buzzing with excitement. Everyone hoped Professor Quirrell would leave Hogwarts, especially the studious Ravenclaws.

“If we succeed, this will be a major event worthy of the school’s history books.”

“This is a victory for all of us!”

    “We will succeed.”

“I took Divination this year. Professor Trelawney predicted that someone would leave Hogwarts this year. I think she was talking about Professor Quirrell.”

The Ravenclaws discussed excitedly. Andy was about to ask the third-year student who took Divination how Professor Trelawney made her prediction…

When another fifth-year student said, “Don’t believe her. Professor Trelawney predicts someone at Hogwarts will die every year, but it never comes true.”

    Andy: …

    A fraud!

    Could that be possible?

Professor Trelawney’s ancestors were all master seers; Andy had read many books on the subject.

However, prophecy requires talent, and Andy currently had zero talent in that area.

“Andy, do you think the professors know about this?” Hermione looked anxious.

The young witch’s three greatest fears were: failing to get full marks on exams, receiving criticism from professors, and being expelled from school.

Although Malfoy spearheaded the effort, Andy was the one who devised the plan. If Malfoy got caught, Hermione didn’t believe he would keep the secret and refuse to betray Andy.

    “They probably don’t know yet,”

Andy guessed, “After all, no one would tell the professors about this. Professors aren’t omniscient; they can’t predict the future. Especially since—the plan only started yesterday.”

After a moment’s thought, Andy added, “But I think… Professor Dumbledore probably already knows.”

“What do we do?” Hermione was panicked, starting to recall things from books she had read, imagining how she would defend Andy if he got caught.

Andy smiled and ruffled the young witch’s hair. “Don’t worry, we’re not doing anything wrong. Even if people find out, so what?”

“I just don’t want to be in the spotlight, so I left it to Malfoy to handle.”

Hermione slapped Andy’s hand away. She glared at him. “Don’t touch my hair, it’s already messy enough.”

Andy’s calmness quickly reassured Hermione, but the young witch immediately asked another question, “But… what if Professor Dumbledore doesn’t approve?”

“How could he disapprove? It’s a petition from all the students. Even the headmaster can’t go against all the students, right?”

Andy shrugged. “If Dumbledore really insists on going against us, then I’ll just have Malfoy lead the students in a strike!”
