Hogwarts: This Wizard is Unscientific 42
by adminChapter 42: I’ve Lost Patience with This Friendship
Abandoned classroom.
Andy decided to temporarily stop thinking about those irrelevant issues. It was better to spend time improving his magic skills than wasting time pondering nonsense. Even if modern magic had gone astray, it wasn’t something a young witch or wizard just beginning to learn magic could research.
…
Time slipped away, second by second. In the blink of an eye, Andy had been at Hogwarts for half a month. Classes, reading, practicing magic—this was Andy’s daily routine. Others might find such a life monotonous, but Andy enjoyed it, relishing the routine. If, during this process, there was a little witch to keep you company, someone to tease for amusement during idle moments, it would be even more interesting. This life was both leisurely and fulfilling; Andy was almost reluctant to leave.
However, human joys and sorrows are often not shared. Andy’s days were comfortable, but some people’s days might not be so pleasant. For example… our Professor Quirrell.
Quirrell was panicking these days; he seemed to have messed up the task assigned to him by the Dark Lord! Pretending to be frightened by a vampire, stuttering through his lessons—this was Quirrell’s ingenious plan. He was possessed by Voldemort, and the smell on him was terrible, so he could only use the smell of garlic to mask the stench. Add to that the head wrap he had to wear; all this needed an explanation.
Quirrell’s original plan was well-thought-out. Although Hogwarts was a thousand-year-old institution, Hogwarts had more incompetent professors than anywhere else. Think of Professor Binns, think of Professor Trelawney, and think of Madam Hooch… which one of them was better than Quirrell? Why was he chosen?
Quirrell felt that the reason things went wrong wasn’t because of flaws in his plan, but because the students this year were too amazing! Especially that Draco Malfoy; the Dark Lord said his father was a Death Eater. Traitor!
Two days ago, Dumbledore had already spoken to Quirrell. According to Dumbledore, he was still negotiating with the school governors. He still had faith in Quirrell, telling him to rest for a couple of days and adjust his state of mind. This made Quirrell feel slightly relieved. Dumbledore was still reliable!
Quirrell hoped Dumbledore could quickly resolve this matter. The Dark Lord was still asleep—Voldemort had consumed a lot of energy escaping Gringotts. But if the Dark Lord woke up and found Quirrell had been dismissed from Hogwarts, Quirrell didn’t dare imagine what would happen to him. The Cruciatus Curse? The Killing Curse?
In his office, Quirrell paced back and forth. He had to come up with a solution quickly; otherwise, when the Dark Lord woke up, he wouldn’t let him off.
“Should I go steal the Philosopher’s Stone now?”
“No!”
Quirrell hadn’t thought of a foolproof way yet; he couldn’t even handle the three-headed dog guarding the door.
“Dumbledore, Dumbledore… I’m completely relying on you now!”
“But, but… what if Dumbledore can’t withstand the pressure?”
“Or… next week, I’ll say I’ve recovered and teach properly?”
“No! That would arouse Dumbledore’s suspicion.”
Quirrell gnashed his teeth, secretly hating, “Damn Malfoy, don’t let me find a chance. When the Dark Lord is resurrected, I’ll make you pay!”
“I must calm down!”
Quirrell felt he had to prepare for two scenarios. If he was dismissed from Hogwarts, how would he steal the Philosopher’s Stone?
“As long as I can find a way, the Dark Lord won’t blame me for incompetence!”
“Perhaps, I can find an inside man.”
…
“Malfoy’s been so smug lately!”
Hogwarts Great Hall. Ron complained while eating a sausage, “It’s unbelievable that he could do something like that!”
Harry and Ron naturally already knew about Malfoy’s initiative to get Quirrell expelled. For many, this was a good thing, but Harry and Ron felt incredibly irritated. Because of Malfoy, they lost a hundred points.
“Harry, you’re not going to just let this go, are you?” Ron asked unwillingly.
“But what can we do?” Harry couldn’t think of any good ideas. “Stuff Malfoy in a toilet?”
“When are you planning to act?” Ron asked excitedly.
Harry was instantly speechless; he’d just said it casually. Could they really stuff Malfoy in a toilet? Besides the fact that they barely knew any magic, Harry didn’t want to lose more points for Gryffindor.
Ron was also a bit discouraged; he clearly realized this wasn’t a feasible plan.
“Maybe we can lure Malfoy out,” Ron suggested.
Harry looked speechless. “We’ve been planning for a whole week just to figure out how to lure Malfoy out.”
“We can ask George and Fred, or ask Andy, they’re both very smart,” Ron suggested again.
Harry hesitated. “That’s not good, is it?”
“But we’ve run out of ideas!” Ron shrugged.
Harry: “…”
“Okay!” Harry could only agree; he was also unwilling to just let it go.
However, things didn’t go smoothly. George and Fred, while wanting to help their brother get revenge, wouldn’t bully a first-year. As for devising a plan, their ideas were only pranks, clearly not satisfactory to Harry and Ron. They not only wanted to see Malfoy suffer but also wanted to see Malfoy lose a hundred points for Slytherin.
So Harry and Ron found Andy.
“Andy, we have something to tell you.”
On the way from the library to the Great Hall, Harry and Ron stopped Andy and Hermione.
“Hermione, go to the Great Hall first!” Andy said to Hermione.
Hermione glanced at the three of them. She had a feeling that Harry and Ron were up to no good with Andy. But she didn’t want to eavesdrop on their secrets. With a humph, Hermione turned and left.
“What is it?” Andy asked.
“This…”
Harry was a little embarrassed, but Ron didn’t have so many reservations. He directly asked, “Andy, can you help us come up with a plan to get back at Malfoy?”
Andy: “…”
“What have you two been doing all week?” Andy curiously asked. It had been so long, and they still hadn’t gotten revenge?
“We… we’ve been thinking of ways,” Ron’s face flushed red.
Okay then!
“You wait for Malfoy to be alone, put a sack over his head, and beat him up,” Andy said casually.
Ron looked indignant, “We want Slytherin to lose a hundred points too.”
“Then I can’t help you.”
Andy shrugged, then ignored the two and walked straight towards the Great Hall. Considering his acquaintance with Ron for several years, coming up with a plan involving a sack was already more than enough. Andy had lost patience with this so-called friendship.
Too stupid!
