Chapter 68: Dumbledore’s Fishing Rod, Whoever Takes the Bait

Andy rubbed his temples. A splitting headache!

“It’s you who’s the good student, huh?”

“I’m talking about Quirrell!” Andy lowered his voice. “If he really wants revenge, he’ll definitely try to sneak back into Hogwarts… but how?”

    “Maybe through a secret passage!”

Hermione, upon hearing this, also became nervous. “Like the one leading to Honeydukes… maybe there are others in the castle?”

Andy nodded. That was a possibility.

But surely Dumbledore would know the location of those passages?

“Whew—” Andy let out a breath.

Regardless of whether Dumbledore knew or not, it was a possibility.

So far, just considering Andy’s own thoughts, there were already three ways to sneak into Hogwarts.

“He could also hide in the Forbidden Forest,” Hermione guessed.

Andy thought for a moment. Four.

“If Quirrell learned Animagus, he could impersonate a young wizard’s pet,” Hermione continued to analyze.

    Andy: …

    Fine, five.

“The Extension Charm is a good way, he could put himself in a small bag and have an owl deliver it to Hogwarts,” Hermione glanced at Andy.

Andy swore that if anyone ever said Hogwarts was the safest place in the wizarding world again, he would hang them upside down.

    Safe my ass!

Just look, two first-year wizards alone have come up with so many ways to infiltrate Hogwarts.

“If that’s the case, then we can only meet any challenge with calm.”

Andy felt a headache coming on. It seemed he really needed to be more careful in the future.

Hermione looked at Andy with worry; she couldn’t think of any way to prevent Quirrell’s revenge either.

After History of Magic class, the young witch quickly dragged Andy to the library. She decided to read more books to see if she could find a way to deal with Quirrell.

    “Andy, you’re here after all.”

Not long after Andy arrived at the library, Harry and Ron showed up together.

    “Shh!”

Andy made a silencing gesture, indicating that they should look at Madam Pince, then stood up and said, “Let’s talk outside.”

    “Hermione, I’ll be right back.”

Outside the library, Andy curiously asked, “What’s up, you two?”

Harry glanced at Ron first, then asked with a serious expression, “Andy, do you know Nicolas Flamel?”

    Andy: …

Did these two find out about the Philosopher’s Stone?

It seems they had a very fulfilling Christmas break!

“Nicolas Flamel, full name Nicolas Flamel, a Frenchman, was the most famous alchemist of the fourteenth century. His greatest achievement was creating the Philosopher’s Stone,”

Andy explained slowly, “The Philosopher’s Stone can not only turn metal into gold, but it can also create the Elixir of Life. If I remember correctly, Mr. Nicolas Flamel is 662 years old this year.”

Harry and Ron looked at each other.

“Snape must want to steal the Philosopher’s Stone!”

Ron guessed confidently, “Think about it, the Philosopher’s Stone can not only make people immortal, but it can also turn metal into gold. Owning the Philosopher’s Stone is equivalent to possessing countless fortunes.”

At the end, Ron’s face was full of envy.

    Nicolas Flamel is so lucky!

    “That must be it!”

Harry looked serious, “If Snape gets the Philosopher’s Stone, everything will be over!”

    Andy: …

Shouldn’t the most important function of the Philosopher’s Stone be that it can make people immortal?

And how will everything be over if Snape gets the Philosopher’s Stone?

Does he have some kind of conspiracy?

“Uh… what are you two talking about?” Andy showed a confused expression.

Time to show off my acting skills.

“You said Snape wants to steal the Philosopher’s Stone?”

Andy asked doubtfully, “But as far as I know, the Philosopher’s Stone should be in the hands of Mr. Nicolas Flamel, and no one in the wizarding world knows where he’s currently hiding.”

Harry and Ron looked at each other again. Ron nodded slightly, and Harry said solemnly, “Andy, the Philosopher’s Stone is now in Hogwarts, and Snape wants to steal it.”

    “Why?”

Andy still looked puzzled, “If Mr. Flamel gave the Philosopher’s Stone to Headmaster Dumbledore, Headmaster Dumbledore should be carrying it with him.”

“No one in the wizarding world can steal anything from Headmaster Dumbledore.”

Harry mysteriously said, “Andy, come with me.”

The three walked to a corner of the castle. Harry looked around cautiously. Seeing no one around, he breathed a sigh of relief and said, “Someone gave me an Invisibility Cloak this Christmas.”

    “That’s cool!” Ron interjected.

Harry continued, “Because of the Malfoy attack, the Ministry sent people to Hogwarts to investigate, and when Ron and I were sneaking around at night… we saw Snape sneaking around the fourth-floor corridor.”

“Andy, you should also know about the Gringotts break-in, right? The time Gringotts was broken into was the same day Hagrid and I went to Gringotts to get money.”

    “Hagrid took something from Gringotts!”

Ron added at this time, “Harry and I went to find Hagrid, and Hagrid inadvertently revealed the name Nicolas Flamel.”

Dumbledore really went to great lengths!

    Andy couldn’t help but exclaim!

For something as important as the Philosopher’s Stone, he actually sent Hagrid to Gringotts to get it—couldn’t he have gone himself?

Shouldn’t the Headmaster be less busy during Hogwarts’ holidays?

Even if Dumbledore had private matters, going to Gringotts to get something would only take two Apparations.

Dumbledore couldn’t possibly not be able to spare this bit of time, could he?

Clearly, Dumbledore’s purpose was to let Harry witness the Philosopher’s Stone firsthand, thus reasonably deducing everything.

    Then voluntarily enter the game.

It has to be said that Dumbledore really had a bit of Jiang Ziya’s (姜子牙 – a legendary figure in Chinese mythology known for his wisdom and strategy) style, whoever takes the bait!

Andy couldn’t help but think to himself, “Wouldn’t Dumbledore just happen to have also implicated me?”

    It wasn’t impossible!

Harry and Ron were two underachievers. Even if they knew the name Nicolas Flamel, they probably wouldn’t know who this person was.

Andy and Ron knew each other before they started school.

Andy was a top student, so Harry and Ron would definitely ask Andy about Nicolas Flamel.

Not only that, Snape had warned Andy before Christmas, telling him to be careful of Quirrell.

If Andy’s guess was correct, then Dumbledore’s plan was already very clear.

On the one hand, he informed Andy through Snape that Quirrell was a bad guy, that he was the one who attacked Malfoy.

On the other hand, he used Andy’s friendship with Ron to tell Andy about the Philosopher’s Stone.

Then Andy, for self-preservation, would definitely take the initiative to join forces with Harry to fight Quirrell.
