Hogwarts: This Wizard is Unscientific 72
by adminChapter 72: The Three Elements of World Destruction: Failing Exams, Heartbreak, Job Hunting Failure
“I’ve always been curious why you’re so interested in Collins, a first-year student.”
Snape didn’t suppress the question in his heart, “Including my student years, I’ve lived at Hogwarts for almost twenty years. During these years, there haven’t been few young wizards secretly studying Dark Arts.”
That includes me!
But Snape had never seen Dumbledore pay special attention to any young wizard. Even if they secretly studied the Dark Arts, Dumbledore only provided appropriate guidance.
Some he even ignored.
During the peak of Voldemort’s power, some Slytherin students even openly studied Dark Arts, publicly declaring their intention to join the Death Eaters after graduation.
Yet Snape never saw Dumbledore give them a hard time.
He even offered them a degree of protection because they were members of the school.
Of course, they didn’t get that treatment after graduation.
“…”
Dumbledore was silent for a moment, then slowly said, “If there’s anyone in the current magical world who could reach the heights of Voldemort and myself… I think it could only be him.”
Snape: …
I get it, you didn’t care about me back then because I wasn’t good enough, right?!
In fact, Snape also understood that Dumbledore hadn’t cared about him back then not only because he was a Slytherin, but also because he intended to join the Death Eaters.
But he was still angry!
“Collins?” Snape looked at Dumbledore. “He’s only eleven, and you can already see his future?”
“Yes!”
Dumbledore sighed, reflecting on the nearly fifty years between himself, Voldemort, and Andy Collins.
“Collins has a unique understanding of magic, a talent that others lack.”
Dumbledore explained, “Severus, you may soon discover this.”
Snape stopped dwelling on the issue. He looked deeply at Dumbledore. “You’d better resolve this quickly.”
Having said that, Snape turned and left the Headmaster’s office.
…
Four days later, Andy visited the Restricted Section again at night.
Once you start sneaking around, it never stops; it’s like an endless cycle.
Compared to the ordinary books outside, the books in the Restricted Section were truly packed with valuable information, many of which inspired Andy. Even some ‘storybooks’ contained content that greatly interested him.
Of course, Andy always restrained himself, never looking at books related to the Dark Arts.
For now, Andy wasn’t ready to study Dark Arts.
Many people misunderstand the Restricted Section, thinking all the books there are related to Dark Arts.
This is incorrect.
The magic books in the Restricted Section are only dangerous for young wizards. If a wizard lacks sufficient magical skill and attempts the spells within, it could easily lead to magical accidents.
Some injuries are irreversible.
That’s why these books are kept in the Restricted Section.
After browsing the Restricted Section, Andy took out a book on human transfiguration and began reading.
Tomorrow is Saturday, Andy could read all night and sleep all day tomorrow…
Perfect.
“Human transfiguration is very dangerous magic. At your current level, it’s best to wait until your third year before studying this.”
The sudden voice almost scared Andy to death.
Looking up, Andy breathed a sigh of relief, feeling somewhat delighted.
It’s been so long, finally seeing Dumbledore again.
If you don’t come, I’ll go astray!
Dumbledore was also puzzled. A young wizard caught sneaking around at night by the Headmaster, yet instead of being nervous, he looks happy?
Is he really that arrogant?
Even so.
You just caused me trouble, and you’ve forgotten it already, haven’t you?
One was happy, the other puzzled. They looked at each other, the atmosphere becoming awkward.
“Ahem! Headmaster Dumbledore, good evening.”
Andy greeted him, “Bad luck, I’ve been caught by you again.”
Then, Andy returned the book to the shelf.
Getting caught sneaking around was one thing, but reading forbidden books in front of the Headmaster would be incredibly arrogant.
Andy considered himself a good kid.
“Are you having trouble with your studies?” Dumbledore asked kindly.
If you mention this, I won’t be sleepy anymore.
“Actually, yes!”
Andy looked at Dumbledore, pondering. “Headmaster, do you think emotions can be fused with magic? A ‘Moro’ (默默然) is a fusion of negative emotions and magic, but what about positive emotions? Can they also be fused with magic?”
“Is the fusion of emotions and magic a higher level of magic? A qualitative change in magic?”
Or perhaps, a unification of spirit, energy, and mind? (精气神合一 – jing qishen heyi: a traditional Chinese concept referring to the harmonious integration of spirit, energy, and mind, essential for well-being and cultivation)
It’s not impossible.
If China also had wizards, would their concept of “unification of spirit, energy, and mind” be the product of the fusion of emotions and magic?
Dumbledore’s eyes flickered, but in the darkness, Andy didn’t notice.
Mentioning Moros, Dumbledore subconsciously thought of his youth.
The Dumbledore family was destroyed by Moros.
His sister was a Moros, his father was imprisoned in Azkaban because of his sister, his mother died due to his sister’s Moros outburst, and his brother’s only son was also a Moros.
“Perhaps,”
Dumbledore said vaguely, “But it’s very difficult to achieve. Extreme positive emotions, violently fluctuating magic… neither is something we can easily control.”
Andy’s eyes flashed.
Harry’s mother achieved extreme positive emotions – her love for her son.
And Harry… he was only about a year old at the time; his magic was very weak and unstable…
But that wasn’t Harry’s own emotion, it doesn’t quite count as a fusion of emotion and magic.
“Thank you, Headmaster.”
Andy showed his gratitude and continued, “Headmaster Dumbledore, the Defense Against the Dark Arts… is there really a curse?”
“I think so.”
Dumbledore nodded. “Ten years after Voldemort graduated, he returned to Hogwarts seeking employment, wanting to spread his evil ideas at the school. I refused him.”
Oh my god, Voldemort is so idle?
You’re a Dark Lord, and you’re fixated on one class?
Also, this plot seems so familiar.
A failed art student?
Failing art school leads to a world war, failing job hunting leads to becoming a Dark Lord?
Think about it, Obito Uchiha (宇智波带土) wanted to destroy the world because he lost his love.
It’s not just novels and comics, there are examples in reality.
For example, Li Zicheng (李自成) who rebelled after losing his job, and Wu Sangui (吴三桂) who surrendered after being cuckolded…
These issues are indeed serious!
So, Dumbledore became the guardian of the wizarding world because he found successful employment?
What about Grindelwald?
Failing exams? Heartbreak? Job hunting failure?
He must have at least one of those!
“Headmaster, what about Hogwarts? Is there a curse on the school?” Andy continued to ask.
“Hogwarts?” Dumbledore was stunned.
Andy didn’t want to be too obvious, so he hinted, “The… the… single curse!”
