Chapter 84 Andy: I Can Power Up Too

Time flew by, and in the blink of an eye, it was March.

All things revived, spring was in full bloom.

The weather gradually warmed up, and many young witches and wizards eagerly shed their sweaters. Then a sudden cold snap hit, and many in the castle caught colds, making the hospital wing the liveliest place in Hogwarts.

But there were advantages to having a cold.

Catching a cold provided a legitimate excuse to skip classes.

Andy had seen some young witches and wizards deliberately approach those who were ill—after all, if you didn’t have the flu, you were behind the times.

Besides the flu, something else had been bothering Andy lately.

Hermione seemed to have developed severe pre-exam anxiety.

With more than three months left until the final exams, Hermione had launched a massive review plan.

Besides memorizing all the textbooks, she read a large number of extracurricular books every day, repeatedly practiced the spells taught at school, and filled six notebooks with review notes.

Not only that, but she also tried to get Andy to study with her.

    Andy, however, refused.

Reviewing was certainly necessary, but not for the sake of the exam itself.

Perhaps because of his time travel, or perhaps because he was living in a foreign land, Andy didn’t have much of a sense of collective honor here.

He didn’t care much about exam results or the House Cup.

What Andy valued more was magic itself.

Sixth floor of the castle, abandoned classroom.

Andy put away his wand and opened the system interface.

After nearly a year of effort, his Charms and Transfiguration talents had both reached 5 points.

Now, even without considering the learning ability, comprehension, and self-control unique to adults, Andy’s talent was among the best in Hogwarts.

This led to Andy’s incredibly fast learning progress.

Andy had not only self-studied the second-year curriculum but had also read a large number of extracurricular books in the library, mastering many practical small spells.

    His strength had greatly improved.

These days, Andy had focused his energy on learning Legilimency.

For 90% of wizards in the magical world, Legilimency was an obscure and impractical magic.

For the remaining 10%, however, Legilimency was one of their must-learn spells.

Legilimency is a magical art that resists external mental penetration. It can seal the mind to counteract magical intrusion and influence.

It is also the nemesis of Occlumency.

In short, if you have a heart that wants to make trouble in the magical world, you must master Occlumency.

Andy’s learning had been relatively smooth, but he wasn’t yet proficient.

Mastering Legilimency requires someone to practice Occlumency with. Andy couldn’t let others probe his memories, so practice was out of the question.

However, it was sufficient to deal with the Legilimency used through simple eye contact.

    【Potential Points: 4】

The last time he added points was in early January. Now, two months later, Andy had finally saved up 4 potential points.

Andy turned his gaze to the data on the right side of the system.

    【Magic Power: 2】

    【Soul: 4】

    【Mind: 3】

    【Thought: 3】

    【Willpower: 2】

This data was actually quite good.

Magic power naturally increases with age, and Soul, Mind, and Thought were all within the normal human range.

Only Willpower—2 points felt like an insult.

Andy had also realized that his willpower was somewhat lacking.

Willpower here doesn’t just refer to self-control but also includes the courage to take risks and the willpower to resist temptation.

Andy was just an ordinary person in his previous life, so his willpower was naturally weak.

However, the protagonist today wasn’t the 【Willpower】 attribute.

Andy focused on the 【Mind】 attribute, took a deep breath, and increased the 【Mind】 attribute from 3 to 4 points.

The moment the system panel changed, Andy felt a warm current surging from deep within his heart, quickly spreading to his limbs.

His whole body felt warm, as if filled with power.

The improvement of the 【Mind】 attribute was completely different from the improvement of talents on the left side of the system.

Andy still remembered the feeling of improving his Charms talent; it was a feeling of sudden enlightenment, like a sudden influx of knowledge.

    But improving 【Mind】 was different.

It was a feeling of ‘seemingly no change, but a subtle feeling of being stronger’.

Andy remembered seeing some news in his previous life.

For example: A mother, in order to save her child trapped under a car, suddenly burst forth with tremendous strength, lifting the car with her bare hands.

From a scientific perspective, this is called an adrenaline rush.

But from a magical perspective, this is the power of the mind.

The magic of this world is inherently idealistic.

After this upgrade, Andy couldn’t say exactly where he had become stronger, but he just felt significantly stronger.

To use his previous life’s terminology, Andy’s current state was roughly that his spirit was more abundant, and he had undergone a change from the inside out.

Andy suddenly thought of Harry Potter, perhaps the epitome of strong mentality.

Andy had been classmates with Harry for about a year and considered himself to be fairly knowledgeable about Harry’s magical talent.

Among his peers, Harry’s talent could be ranked in the top five, far surpassing those like Malfoy.

But compared to older students, Harry’s talent didn’t seem that outstanding.

This clearly didn’t fit his protagonist status.

Through his interactions over this time, Andy discovered that Harry was easily emotional.

From a behavioral perspective, being emotional is a significant drawback.

But from a magical perspective, being emotional is an extremely rare advantage.

Harry is brave, has a strong sense of justice, and is sincere in his dealings with people and emotions.

It is precisely this sincere emotion that gives Harry extremely powerful inner strength and rich inner feelings.

This emotion allows Harry to easily generate extreme emotions, thereby greatly enhancing the power of his spells.

Andy thought, “Harry Potter is a children’s book promoting love and friendship. From this perspective, Harry’s characteristics do meet the requirements of a protagonist.”

Andy roughly understood the effect of the 【Mind】 attribute.

The improvement of the 【Mind】 attribute greatly increased Andy’s inner strength and emotional power. This power is intangible and yet real.

In other words, when Andy uses a spell with a corresponding emotion, he can enhance the spell’s power to a certain extent.

    For example:

Killing intent corresponds to the Killing Curse.

A desire for destruction corresponds to the Confringo Charm.

Joy corresponds to the Patronus Charm.

Mental power corresponds to emotional power; the enhancement of the mind equals the sublimation of emotion.

Andy was extremely satisfied with this amplification.

Although casting spells requires utilizing the power of emotions, this amplification is enough to become Andy’s current trump card.
