Chapter 86: Dumbledore: I Will Personally Cast the Spell to Eliminate Quirrell

    “Quirrell!?”

Hermione remembered. Andy had told her some time ago that Quirrell was very likely hiding in the Forbidden Forest.

Harry and Ron had even ventured into the Forbidden Forest at night to look for evidence.

However, they had stepped on poisonous mushrooms as soon as they entered the forest, and were knocked unconscious by the poisonous mist the mushrooms released.

“Quirrell setting fire to the Forbidden Forest is likely to attract the attention of the professors, so he can take the opportunity to enter the castle and steal the Sorcerer’s Stone,” Hermione said, worry etched on her face. She wasn’t sure if Headmaster Dumbledore would think of this.

She had just seen that Headmaster Dumbledore wasn’t in the Great Hall, and neither was Professor Trelawney.

Perhaps they had gone to the Forbidden Forest!

The young witch thought, Headmaster Dumbledore went to the Forbidden Forest, Professor McGonagall was patrolling the castle, Professor Flitwick and Professor Snape remained in the Great Hall…

In this way, Quirrell’s plan should not succeed.

Hermione leaned towards Andy and whispered, “Should we tell a professor?”

“If we can think of it, the professors can naturally think of it too.” Andy didn’t want to attract trouble.

Hermione nodded, then turned her head to look towards the professors’ table. Andy, influenced by her, also looked in that direction.

Snape happened to look at them as well.

Andy and Snape met eyes. Andy opened his mouth and made an ‘SB’ mouth shape, then quickly turned away.

Snape was stunned. What did ‘SB’ mean?

    A code?

Or was he being reminded of something?

Snape’s eyes narrowed. What did Collins mean?

Compared to other young witches and wizards, Andy clearly knew more of the truth.

With the Forbidden Forest on fire, Quirrell might take action, and Snape clearly didn’t think Andy would make a meaningless move at this time.

Snape’s name starts with ‘S’, so what word starts with ‘B’?

There were too many words starting with ‘B’, and Snape couldn’t figure out what Andy was trying to tell him for a moment.

“If it’s important, Collins should report it to a professor directly…”

Snape frowned. He was a proud person. If ‘SB’ was indeed some kind of code, he would rather spend more time studying it than ask Andy directly.

The moment he turned his head, the hairs on Andy’s back stood on end.

    Scared me to death!

When he was in school before, Andy would occasionally look around the classroom. If he happened to make eye contact with a good friend, making a mouth shape to curse was just a joke between friends.

He didn’t expect to curse Snape today.

And he cursed him to his face.

Fortunately, Snape didn’t know the meaning of ‘SB’, otherwise, he might have blasted Andy with an Avada Kedavra. (Avada Kedavra: an unforgivable curse that kills instantly)

During the wait in the Great Hall, students gradually returned.

Many were curious about what had happened in the Forbidden Forest, and why Headmaster Dumbledore hadn’t appeared yet.

Was he fighting an enemy in the Forbidden Forest?

Or was he held up by something?

As the professors no longer managed the order, a buzzing murmur arose in the Great Hall. Everyone was discussing the Forbidden Forest with those around them, and all sorts of bizarre guesses emerged.

Some said it was a Dark Wizard invasion.

    Others said it was vampires.

Still others said it was a werewolf riot.

Giants and trolls naturally also came up, and the most outrageous guess was that Dumbledore and the Ministry of Magic’s Aurors had gotten into a fight.

“Headmaster Dumbledore hasn’t fought in decades, no one knows what his strength is now, maybe he’s too old to fight anymore.”

“Impossible, Headmaster Dumbledore is the greatest wizard of the 20th century, and the person You-Know-Who fears the most, no one can defeat him.”

    “…”

Andy listened for a while. Many young witches and wizards guessed that Dumbledore’s absence was because he was fighting an enemy in the Forbidden Forest.

    The fire was proof!

Some said it was a fire curse cast by Dumbledore; the flames in the Forbidden Forest soared into the sky, even scattering the clouds.

Andy had to admit that Hogwarts was indeed the source of rumors; these unreliable young witches and wizards’ ideas were simply whimsical.

About half an hour later, Professor McGonagall returned.

She quickly walked across the long table to the professors’ table, and Flitwick and Snape gathered there.

“Are all the students here?” Professor McGonagall asked.

“Just counted, they’re all here!” Flitwick said.

    “That’s good!”

Professor McGonagall visibly breathed a sigh of relief, then her face fell. “Trelawney has been brought back by Hagrid, she’s in the hospital wing, and the situation is very bad.”

“Hm?” Snape was still thinking about ‘SB’, and only when he heard the name Trelawney did he finally come to his senses.

“She was attacked by dark magic, seriously injured.”

Professor McGonagall seemed reluctant to continue, “Madam Pomfrey has examined her; Trelawney was tortured with the Cruciatus Curse.” (Cruciatus Curse: a torture curse)

Snape’s pupils instantly constricted, but his expression remained unchanged. “The Cruciatus Curse?”

Professor McGonagall said, “Albus has gone to the Forbidden Forest, hoping he can catch the culprit.”

    Snape’s face darkened.

Having experienced the last war, he knew that few wizards could withstand the torture of the Cruciatus Curse.

Trelawney only suffered the Cruciatus Curse, not the Killing Curse…

Snape could only think of two possibilities.

Either Trelawney stubbornly refused to confess, or Voldemort had altered Trelawney’s memory while she was unconscious.

Although Dumbledore was also proficient in memory magic, altering memories was much easier than sorting them out.

“Who started the fire in the Forbidden Forest?” Snape asked.

“It was Trelawney, I checked her wand.”

Professor McGonagall explained, “Perhaps she set the fire to call for help.”

    Snape: “…”

If Quirrell was the mastermind, then this was possible.

But if Voldemort was the mastermind, then Trelawney had inevitably defected—whether she wanted to or not.

What the hell is Dumbledore doing?

Snape was somewhat annoyed. Playing games with Voldemort in the school was too risky.

One moment of carelessness, and a student might be attacked by Voldemort.

Snape really couldn’t figure out what was going on in Dumbledore’s head.

Dumbledore, the subject of Snape’s criticism, was deep in the Forbidden Forest at this moment, using magic to track Quirrell’s movements.

Compared to others, Dumbledore was clearly the most furious.

Trelawney was a professor he had invited, and Quirrell was hiding in the Forbidden Forest with his tacit approval.

Yet Trelawney had been attacked by Quirrell.

This undoubtedly broke the unspoken balance between Dumbledore and Voldemort.

And once the balance was broken, the consequences would be catastrophic.

Voldemort would certainly act without any more restraint in the future.

Because of this, Dumbledore finally made up his mind.

He would personally cast the spell to eliminate Quirrell tonight!
