Hogwarts: This Wizard is Unscientific 9
by adminChapter 9: Good Brother and Good Sister
Andy’s talent in Charms had increased, and unwilling to waste this opportunity, he grabbed his wand and prepared to practice magic in the basement.
He went downstairs to the living room on the first floor.
Little Isabel was sprawled on the sofa, munching on snacks while reading a fairy tale book. She was completely relaxed and entertained herself.
What a monotonous childhood.
Thankfully, he had taken the little girl to the river to catch fish yesterday; otherwise, how bored would she have been all day?
It’s time to buy her a Muggle game console…
Hmm… Still, getting addicted to games isn’t a good thing.
Andy, the good brother, walked over.
“Wingardium Leviosa!”
With a flick of his wand, Isabel, along with the fairy tale book in her hands, floated into the air.
This was a flying game that Muggle children had never experienced. Andy felt that this spell was filled with a brother’s love for his sister.
“Mmm…”
The little girl puffed out her cheeks.
This was the 103rd time this month. Isabel had never longed so much to own a wand and cast all the spells she knew at Andy.
No, a thousand times.
Andy believed that if he learned Legilimency, he would feel extremely gratified at this moment.
The little girl finally understood the meaning of effort.
This was a thousand times of love.
“Where’s Mom?” After putting the little girl down, Andy raised an eyebrow and asked.
“There!” Isabel pointed her chin towards the potion room.
“I’m going to practice spells. Want to come and watch?” Andy asked.
“No!” Isabel resolutely refused.
When Andy first practiced spells, Isabel was quite interested. But no matter how interesting something is, if it’s repeated dozens of times, the interest will wane.
Patting the little girl’s head, Andy went down to the basement alone.
The basement was originally a storage warehouse, but since Andy needed to practice magic, Kyle had renovated it, building a new room and expanding it with an extension charm.
Andy had once wondered why Kyle and Helen didn’t practice magic?
Their answer was powerful.
They felt that magic didn’t need practice.
The magic they possessed was already enough to solve all the problems they encountered in life. While further practice would make them slightly stronger, it would only be a tiny bit.
It was like Muggles exercising.
An adult’s strength is sufficient to handle daily chores, so what’s the point of further exercising?
Dark Wizards are dealt with by the Ministry of Magic’s Aurors, and Lord Voldemort is countered by Dumbledore.
If all else fails, they could use Portkeys to live in other countries.
Increased magical ability doesn’t prolong life or add more Galleons to the vault. Therefore, mastering enough magic for daily life is sufficient.
Andy understood.
It was a matter of perception.
Having lived in the wizarding world since childhood, they were accustomed to all kinds of magic, and naturally didn’t find magic to be that amazing.
It’s like Andy thinking that Muggle technology of this era is backward, while Mr. Weasley is fascinated by Muggle technology.
Shaking his head, Andy couldn’t help but shrug. He only needed to do his own thing.
Entering the practice room, Andy flipped the switch to turn on the basement lights.
Don’t think that the wizarding world doesn’t use Muggle technology. Except for those wizards who are isolated from the world, using some Muggle technological products is an unspoken agreement in the wizarding world.
The practice room was about one hundred square meters. Kyle had built several humanoid targets here, and Helen had used magic to make some of the targets fly—they would move on their own as long as Andy attacked them.
In addition, Andy had installed a large mirror in the practice room, its surface almost covering an entire wall.
The power of magic and the ability to hit the target are important, but they are long-term goals. More important than these is that the casting posture must be cool.
This mirror allowed Andy to observe his casting posture at any time so he could adjust any visually unappealing movements.
“Petrificus Totalus!”
“Stupefy!”
“Incendio!”
“Episkey!”
“…”
The sound of Andy practicing spells echoed in the basement. In addition to basic spells, Transfiguration was also within Andy’s practice scope.
There’s a reason why Transfiguration is separated from basic spells. Transfiguration is a very complex magic; it’s one of the foundations for wizards to understand the principles of the world’s composition.
For example, to transform a wooden stick into an iron rod, a wizard needs to understand the composition of both at the same time before starting the transformation.
Because of this, no wizard can transform an object into a magical creature.
Because they don’t understand the principles of magic.
“Whew…”
Andy sat down on the floor, panting, and opened the system to check his progress for the day.
In just one hour of practice, the red liquid in the orb had increased to one-third.
Impressive progress!
The increase in red liquid not only meant that Andy could obtain potential points, but it also meant that Andy’s practice today was effective.
If the practice was ineffective, the red liquid wouldn’t change at all.
However, this is only temporary.
The reason why today’s progress was so fast was mainly because Andy’s charm talent had increased. Once the talent is developed to a certain extent, the progress of practice will naturally slow down.
Fortunately, the increase in talent allows Andy to learn new magic faster.
Taking a breath, Andy got up from the ground, used the Repairing Charm and the Cleaning Charm to tidy up the practice room, and then left the basement.
In the living room, Helen and Isabel were sitting on the sofa playing Wizard’s Chess.
“Andy, school hasn’t started yet. You’re working so hard now; the professors won’t know how to teach you when school starts.”
Helen shifted her position. “Come and rest for a while!”
“I can go to the library myself,” Andy said after sitting down.
His current hard work was, of course, to have more time to spend in the library.
Hogwarts is a seven-year program; no matter how you think about it, time seems insufficient.
“My son is amazing!”
Helen certainly wouldn’t stop Andy from studying hard. She and Kyle were happy being lazy, but she had high hopes for Andy.
“Humph!” Isabel pouted.
She felt that her level of effort certainly couldn’t compare to Andy’s, but when Andy was too old to move, she would be able to defeat him.
She has the advantage in this aspect!
“School starts in three days. Don’t overwork yourself these two days,” Helen advised.
“Okay! I’m also planning to rest for two days.”
Andy said, “By the way, Mom, can I read those magic books at home now? I mean, the parts about spellcasting.”
