Qin Yanan helped Liu Chang’an prepare zongzi for the entire morning, and they even ate zongzi for lunch. Before leaving, Liu Chang’an sent her a basket with four more zongzi.

Qin Yanan sent some photos she took to her great-grandfather, but who knew when he would see them? Even with close relatives, it wasn’t always possible to disturb Qin Peng, and everything depended on his doctor’s schedule.

Returning to the Baolong Center, Qin Yanan went to find Zhú Jūn Táng because she needed to accompany Liu Chang’an during the Dragon Boat Festival. Since she didn’t want to make multiple trips, Qin Yanan decided to stay at Zhú Jūn Táng’s place, which was close to Liu Chang’an’s.

Zhú Jūn Táng took his dog for a swim by the river, and the dog was the one swimming, of course. Zhú Jūn Táng felt disgusted by some lewd gazes, and even felt nauseous, as if his skin was itchy and red, and he had difficulty breathing. It wasn’t that those people’s gazes were toxic, but rather a psychological condition that triggered a physiological overreaction, which was hard to treat.

He couldn’t wear swimsuits or appear at outdoor baths or beaches, as his body would attract those gazes that made him feel uncomfortable, and it was almost impossible to avoid them.

“Doesn’t this dog look different from the previous one?” Qin Yanan didn’t have a hobby of raising pets, but she could see that this dog was more robust.

    “The previous one ran away.”

Qin Yanan nodded. That fierce dog had run away, and basically, no one dared to get close or adopt it as a pet. It was probably already at some dog meat hot pot shop.

“Do you want to eat some zongzi?” Qin Yanan held up four zongzi. “They’re steamed and cooked. I don’t know what kind of filling they use, but they’re not greasy or salty, and they’re quite delicious.”

“I like those sweet ones, fruit-filled zongzi, one bite and it’s gone.” Zhú Jūn Táng declined.

“Want to go for a stroll this afternoon?” Qin Yanan was originally going to spend the whole day with Liu Chang’an, but Liu Chang’an didn’t seem to think that Qin Yanan’s company was particularly enjoyable, so he sent her off after lunch.

Qin Yanan didn’t get angry, but rather felt a sense of habituation, probably due to her elder-sister-like tolerance.

From a blood relation perspective, they were somewhat distant, but compared to her fiancé, Qin Yanan didn’t mind interacting with her younger cousin, and even felt a bit of a desire to help him out. Qin Yanan thought back to what he said, that in a strict sense, he didn’t have any blood relations with anyone, which was just nonsense.

“I need to arrange some things for Third Aunt’s visit,” Zhú Jūn Táng said, shaking his head. “I received a call from the secretary’s office this morning, saying Third Aunt decided to come to Junsha.”

“Okay, you go take care of that. I’ll go take a shower and then take a nap.” Qin Yanan was clear that the Zhú family cared a lot about Third Aunt, and Zhú Jūn Táng would be busy.

Zhú Jūn Táng went to high school in Junsha before his mother married into the Zhú family, and then he went to college in Taiwan. After that, he was trained as Zhú Jūn Táng’s assistant… actually, Zhú Jūn Táng didn’t have much work to do, but Third Aunt gave him more tasks.

Qin Yanan returned to her room, stood by the window, and gazed out. She noticed that from up high, the distance to Liu Chang’an’s neighborhood was quite close. Qin Yanan took out a telescope from Zhú Jūn Táng’s room and looked out, just able to see Liu Chang’an moving a recliner outside, lying down with a large fan, and taking a nap.

She couldn’t see his face clearly, but she could tell it was him. The telescope in Zhú Jūn Táng’s room had a 1700mm lens, but it was ridiculously heavy, weighing five hundred pounds, even with an electric base, Qin Yanan wouldn’t bother moving it to spy on Liu Chang’an, and the angle wasn’t right anyway.

She closed all the curtains in her room, and the room became dark. The lights gradually turned on, and Qin Yanan went to the dressing room, trying on a pink woven silk cheongsam. She looked like she was wearing a qipao, and the fabric felt different from what she was used to. Qin Yanan furrowed her brow, sighed… they said she looked like her grandmother, but why did her grandmother look so good in cheongsam?

Qin Yanan usually wore those clothes without any embellishments, or simply a breast pad and a small backless top, excluding any possibility of increasing her bust size.

Maybe she could try custom-making a cheongsam with the same flower pattern and style as her grandmother’s. Qin Yanan suddenly felt a strong expectation, wanting to show Liu Chang’an the real thing, and maybe she could understand his inexplicable closeness and protection towards her grandmother.

Qin Yanan took a shower and didn’t take a nap. She changed her clothes and headed to the tailor’s shop, as her mother was working in Junsha with her father, and finding the best cheongsam maker in Junsha was simple.

Liu Chang’an woke up from his nap, holding the book “Stabbed Knights Team Leader” (probably a Japanese novel). He was reading the Japanese version, and many of the translated works by Haruki Murakami had a sour tone, which didn’t appeal to Liu Chang’an, who knew that Chinese novels had stronger emotional resonance.

In this lazy afternoon, with the lonely branches of the parasol tree, the powerless wind, and the creaking of the recliner, Liu Chang’an wanted to compose a poem to express his feelings. His phone rang, and he gave up the idea, wondering what it would be like if the ancient philosophers had mobile phones, and whether they would waste their talent on Weibo and Zhihu.

“Happy Dragon Boat Festival! I’m with my mom, and we took an early morning flight to Sanya.”

“You think the Dragon Boat Festival can only be about safety and not happiness?”

“There are many articles on WeChat that can broaden one’s knowledge.”

“It says in the ‘Book of Rites’: ‘Welcome the coming with joy, and send off the departing with sorrow; thus, there is joy in the rituals.’ That’s talking about the summer solstice, and we can be happy… why suddenly say ‘safety’?”

    “Are you lecturing me?”

“No, Sanya is fun. Mainly, my mom wants to buy some skincare and makeup products for me, and the duty-free shops here are cheaper, and we can accumulate points.”

“Does your mom not use them?”

“My mom uses very little, her skin is very good, and she only uses some skincare products, and makeup is used even less.”

After a while, Liu Chang’an laughed and stood up, finding Ann Wan’s message wishing him a happy Dragon Boat Festival, and replied to it.

“I just woke up from a nap.”

“You’re comfortable, my mom and I went straight to the duty-free shop as soon as we arrived, and we’ve been shopping all day. My duty-free quota is all used up by her to buy skincare and makeup products, and she even gave me a lipstick from a YSL gift set, which is the one she dislikes the most, and it’s really annoying.”

“Take care of yourself and relax, your mom probably wants you to clear your mind before the college entrance exam and get in the best state.”

“Is she really worried about me?”

“Should I not be worried about you?”

    “Show me your phone!”

Liu Chang’an didn’t reply, concerned about his privacy. Didn’t she know that he had privacy rights? Why did girls always like to snoop on others’ phones?
