Cultivators can nurture artifacts with their spiritual energy, even raising their power and grade. This has led to a long-term downward trend in artifact prices within the Jade Tripod Domain. Only in Great River City, near the million-mountain range of the Eastern Wilderness where hunting demonic beasts is prevalent, do artifact prices remain high. However, even in Great River City, the low prices from other areas have started to impact the market.

Luo Chen had encountered this issue long ago. The Wanbao Pavilion (All Treasures Pavilion), when buying back artifacts, only offered at most half the original price; severely damaged ones weren’t even worth half price. Wang Yuan, when he had his stall, mostly sold mid-grade artifacts. Low-grade artifacts were few and far between.

“These few ordinary items, even at a stall, hardly anyone would want them. Those who might be interested are early to mid-stage cultivators, and they certainly won’t offer a high price.”

“I reckon you’ll be lucky to get a few hundred spiritual stones for the lot.”

    Luo Chen was furious!

“These artifacts were earned at the cost of my life! A few hundred spiritual stones? Are you trying to fob me off like a beggar?!”

“Well, these are second-hand, third-hand, who knows how many hands they’ve passed through! And they’re the most trashy low-grade artifacts!”

Sī Kōng Shòu Jiǎ scoffed, then offered Luo Chen three suggestions:

“Either give them to a friend, for a friendly price.”

“Or take them to the Wanbao Pavilion; they’ll treat them as scrap and give you some scrap value.”

“Or, you can hand them over to the sect, and they’ll be exchanged for merit points.”

Luo Chen immediately dismissed the first option. He didn’t have any friends who needed low-grade artifacts. Even Yuan Xiaoyue, who was at the Qi Refining third layer, didn’t lack artifacts. Her grandfather, and her deceased father, had left her a complete set of mid-grade artifacts.

Luo Chen hesitated over the second option. As for the third?

“Merit points? What use are they?”

“You can exchange them for cultivation techniques collected by the Merit Hall! Or you can directly buy elixirs from the Merit Hall… uh, well, all the sect’s elixirs are made by you.”

Sī Kōng Shòu Jiǎ paused, momentarily unable to think of anything in the sect that Luo Chen would need. Mainly because Luo Chen was incredibly shameless, using his position as the Alchemy Hall Master to freely acquire the sect’s techniques and other items whenever possible.

Merit points? He didn’t care about them at all.

“Forget it, I’ll keep them for now!”

It was just a few artifacts; they didn’t take up much space. What if the price of artifacts went up in the future?

Having made up his mind, Luo Chen no longer hurried to sell the artifacts; he wasn’t short of those few spiritual stones.

Just as he was about to leave, Sī Kōng Shòu Jiǎ stopped him. Seeing the old man hesitating, seemingly wanting to say something but holding back, Luo Chen found it strange.

“What’s wrong, constipated? Then I recommend you go to the Bai Shi Square Mixue Bingcheng (a popular ice cream and tea chain in China) and buy a cup of undiluted Fúzhū milk tea. It’s excellent for bowel movements!”

    “Get lost!”

Sī Kōng Shòu Jiǎ cursed, then cautiously said:

“What do you think of Mi Jūn Píng, the Merit Hall Master?”
