Chapter 107: Governor! A strange creature appeared outside! (4K)

It was an ordinary day. A group of soldiers were observing the outside world. This was perfectly normal. Any civilization with a semblance of order would assign personnel to monitor the outside. Then these soldiers saw something, screamed loudly, and recounted seeing “a red moon with a huge eye growing on it, causing them to feel uneasy.”

A few hours later, this entire group disappeared. Unfortunately, one of the missing possessed a Transcendent Fire Seed… It was only the second day since the Rize civilization entered the Pangu Continent; order hadn’t fully stabilized yet. Without knowing anything, the Transcendent Fire Seed died.

Governor Leon sighed lightly. No matter how he divined, the future remained bleak. Without Transcendent Fire Seeds, it was equivalent to losing everything. He didn’t fully understand what the “Transcendent Fire Seed” ability meant, only the chilling number on the communicator screen: “Transcendent Fire Seeds: 0.” No matter how hard they tried, it was useless… The seventh branch was finished.

Even worse, their dream-realm ability users also died. Seeing that huge eyeball in a nightmare would trigger the “disappearance.” Their brave dream-realm ability users perished while exploring nightmares. Therefore, the Rize people painted a picture on the statue in the city square to remind those having nightmares to close their eyes and see nothing—as long as they didn’t see it, they wouldn’t disappear.

This was the tragedy of the Rize people. As long as the monster didn’t die, they would have to accept one disappearance after another. They didn’t even know how the disappearances occurred, or even what the monster looked like.

But today, a sudden whim gave Leon a glimmer of unexpected hope! He didn’t know what this hope was, only that he waited quietly in his office, praying for divine protection—he didn’t actually believe in gods, but a premonition was growing stronger, making his heart pound as if it would leap out of his chest.

“Governor! Unknown electromagnetic waves detected outside!”

“A strange creature has appeared outside!! It seems to be greeting us?”

“What’s going on… some intelligent creature from another civilization?”

A general’s shout pierced through Leon’s precognitive state. He leaped from his seat: “Pictures, show me the pictures quickly.”

The tall general excitedly pulled out a stack of documents: “Governor, it actually has a metal ball communicator similar to ours! It drew some pictures, possibly attempting communication?”

“Is it… the hope you foresaw?”

Leon took the photos and examined them. External observation was terrifying. That round moon would inexplicably rise. Sometimes, even in a clear blue sky, an eye would appear. Seeing that blood-red eye meant disappearance… without exception.

The Rize civilization had long realized that certain abilities could transcend safety zones. The only solution was to avoid observing the outside world. But without external information, it was a slow death. So they used the most primitive film cameras; taking photos with a camera could prevent attacks by the monster. (Note: This civilization’s semiconductor technology was far behind humanity’s; computers were underdeveloped, and surveillance technology was lacking.) However, film cameras required developing film before imaging, significantly slowing down response time.

Leon looked at the figures in the photograph, and a premonition struck him like lightning. “Quickly, contact it using a psychic! Establish contact as quickly as possible!”

A chance! This was the last chance… for this civilization to move towards a brighter future without Transcendent Fire Seeds!

Although Governor Leon didn’t understand the causal relationship, he truly didn’t understand what a foreigner outside the safety zone could bring. Could they possibly transmit the Transcendent Fire into the safety zone? But he subconsciously trusted his abilities.

“Governor, using psychic abilities requires visual observation of the other party…”

“Direct observation, what if the monster suddenly appears?” The general explained with a serious expression, “We only have one psychic in the entire city, a young man. Are you sure? He has great potential!”

The governor’s face was resolute: “Yes, I’m sure… Make contact… for the future of us all!”

“Hurry, we don’t have much time. If we hesitate, the other party will leave! I know what you’re thinking, but sometimes we must take risks!”

The general opened his mouth, wanting to say something more, but seeing how the governor had aged decades in the past half-month, he gritted his teeth: “Understood! I’ll send someone immediately!”

The first contact with the outside world officially began at this moment! The seventh branch of the Rize civilization even contacted their compatriots using the communicator—the other 18 cities!

“Friends, we encountered a stranger wandering outside the safety zone…”

“We are now going to make contact. This will increase our understanding of the Pangu Continent.”

The other branches of the Rize civilization remained silent, offering no opinion… Actually, being able to share some information was already a sign of internationalism. They couldn’t object, anyway.

The psychic, named Tado, cautiously observed the outside world after receiving the order. Through a layer of light screen, the strange humanoid creature wandered at the city’s edge. He had set up a tent and was leisurely fishing by the river. He had two pets nearby… a cat, and a dog?

The stranger’s appearance was also peculiar. His skin was white and tender, without scales or body hair, wearing brown clothes, holding a shield…

Well, thousands of years ago, the Rize civilization didn’t wear clothes; their thick scales could withstand most harm. However, with the arrival of the industrial age, changes in aesthetics and increased productivity led them to wear clothes.

    “Did you succeed, Tado?”

“I’m trying!” Tado was somewhat anxious. The 100x time difference made the other party seem like fast-motion; psychic communication was inconvenient.

In the communication room, voices rose and fell: “We’ve received radio waves from the other party!”

“Send some simple electromagnetic waves first.”

“Hello, sir… hello! Can you hear me?” Tado tirelessly initiated psychic contact, praying that the other party wouldn’t keep wandering by the river; his movements looked like fleeting lightning shadows to him.

Finally, the other party’s steps hesitated, glancing around. Then…

“Wow…” A series of rapid sounds echoed in his mind.

“Governor, contact established! But he spoke too fast, I couldn’t understand!” Tado was anxious, waving his arms.

    “Tell him to speak slower.”

Both sides exchanged words for a long time, speaking past each other, with low efficiency. The think tank was also considering various methods; they suddenly realized… Psychic communication was inferior to electromagnetic waves.

After all, even if electromagnetic waves were stretched or compressed 100 times, they could still be restored using technology.

“Governor, he seems to be leaving.”

Tado felt his body burning, staring intently at the outside of the safety zone, the last hope of a civilization… The governor’s mission had to be accomplished. He tirelessly called out, even after the stranger had left, he continued to call…

The other party occasionally responded, speaking as slowly as possible and lengthening the syllables: “Hello—”

So he spoke as quickly as possible, repeating the syllable: “Hello.”

A moon quickly rose from the horizon. Because of the 100x time flow rate, the scenes on the Pangu Continent were unbelievably fast-motion. Before he could close his eyes, a bloody image of an eyeball appeared on the full moon.

Tado’s heart skipped a beat; he dazedly covered his eyes. He had been hit…

Panic and bewilderment shot up his spine to his forehead; his scales bristled.

“Governor, I… I saw the blood moon! I’m going to disappear soon!” Tado was incredibly despairing; as a young man, he didn’t have such strong psychological resilience, he didn’t have the fortitude to face death calmly.

Governor Leon, hearing the news, was ashen-faced, repeatedly pounding the table. His wrong order had pushed a young man to his death…

The meeting room fell into a long silence; the generals were speechless.

    “How unlucky can we get…”

“The monster seems to know we’re observing the outside world?!”

One day in the safety zone, 100 days outside. In the past 1500 days on the Pangu Continent, the red moon had risen three times at irregular intervals. This was the fourth time… It had to be admitted, they were incredibly unlucky this time; only a few minutes after they looked, the red moon rose again.

The deed was done; there was no turning back. Of the 18 branches of the Rize civilization, 13 were within the red moon’s range. The number of people who had seen the red moon in the past, including those in dreams, was about 13,542; all disappeared, none survived.

More than ten thousand people, in just 16 days! Faced with an almost unsolvable disaster, every Rize person’s heart was heavy… But for some reason, the governor, possessing precognitive abilities, subconsciously felt this was a good thing? His precognition suggested that a sliver of “life” still existed…

“Then let’s fight,” the governor said resolutely.

The generals were stunned, as if they couldn’t believe their ears: “Governor, how do we fight? We don’t even know what it is.”

Governor Leon said in an unquestionable tone: “Deploy our strongest warriors to protect Tado… Regardless, even without that outsider, we must fight that damned monster.”

“Tado has psychic abilities; before he dies, he can transmit the information back.”

“With firsthand data, we can find a way to victory.”

That was true. Psychic ability was a Divine Technique; regardless of distance, it could always transmit information. Unlike the previous missing persons, who didn’t even leave a ripple.

“Tado… I… I’m sorry,” the governor bowed slightly to the young man.

The bewildered Tado slowly regained his composure from his panic. A fire seemed to burn in his chest; while grieving, he pretended to be strong: “Governor, please give me some weapons; I’ll go alone… Don’t involve others.”

“Tado, don’t think you’re the only hero.”

Several tall warriors entered the room. These warriors were practically the strongest squad the seventh branch of the Rize civilization could deploy. They were: the “Precog,” who could sense danger a minute in advance and react accordingly—a lower-level ability of precognition; the “Titan,” who could instantly unleash ten times their strength, the strongest in melee combat; “Hawk Eye,” with exceptionally sharp eyesight, a reconnaissance expert and firearms specialist; the “Healer,” whose blood possessed powerful healing abilities, also a biological expert; and a rare “Appraiser,” who could identify all kinds of strange things.

Plus Tado, the psychic—a total of six! These six were treasures at the civilization level; their loss would be devastating. But there was no other choice; it was better to try to get more information from the psychic than to be slowly tormented.

They were fully armed, wearing oxygen masks and carrying a large amount of supplies; they even drove a vehicle loaded with supplies—whether this vehicle would disappear too was another matter. Trying was always better than nothing!

Governor Leon looked at these steel-like elite warriors who might walk the final path of death, and couldn’t help but feel grief. He didn’t know if his decision was right or wrong, but he had to remain calm… Yes, his face was always impassive; even when feeling lost, he could only silently bury it in his heart.

One of the generals said, “Come, Tado, connect your psychic link to me…”

    “Report any news immediately.”

“Your family will be taken care of.”

“May the Earth God protect you.”

Governor Leon also made a prayer gesture; suddenly, he had an epiphany: Hadn’t that outsider also been attacked by the monster?

“In other words, that outsider would also disappear. In a flash of inspiration, a series of clues connected in his mind: “So that’s it, I said why that sliver of life hadn’t disappeared…”

That outsider must have been an extremely powerful warrior. Only the strongest civilization could withdraw from the safety zone so quickly… He might have the strength to kill the monster… Could we cooperate?
