    Chapter 129: Livestream with Humanity

Lu Yuan took a deep breath and glanced at the wickedly handsome wolf. The old wolf was now a high-level mutated creature – a pretty good title, although its demise had only one cause: death by mother wolf’s belly.

“Okay, let’s arrange it like that.”

Shortly after, the Rize people sent a telegraphic reply.

[Greetings, Mr. Lu Yuan, traveler from human civilization. We are the leadership team of the seventh branch of the Rize civilization.]

[We sincerely welcome your arrival and hope you will feel right at home here.]

[When and from which direction do you plan to enter our safe zone?]

“This polite talk… feels like I’m back in human society.”

However, using “spatial teleportation” to cross the safe zone did require a little cooperation from the other side. He wrote a short reply:

[I hope your civilization can illuminate the safe zone’s barrier with strong light, the brighter the better.]

[And prepare a relatively large open space behind the barrier. Please clear away any obstacles; there should be no obstructions.]

[In this way, I can observe and locate the safe zone and use my spatial abilities to cross over.]

    [Thank you all!]

Both conditions were indispensable. The safe zone was hidden within space, protected by some spatial mechanism, invisible to the naked eye. But if the civilization inside used strong light to shine outwards, it might reveal a few clues… after all, electromagnetic waves could still transmit.

Preparing an open space was naturally to avoid the risks of spatial teleportation. If there was a tree behind the barrier, wouldn’t he be embedded in it?

Therefore, “crossing the safe zone” was a difficult and dangerous undertaking. Only when facing a friendly civilization would Lu Yuan dare to do so; otherwise, he would simply lose his life!

Thus, he waited for several hours in the sinkhole. The other side sent another reply:

[We have completed the necessary preparations. The strong light and open space are ready.]

[You can cross over at any time.]

The most exciting moment had arrived! Lu Yuan’s chest heaved, his heartbeat accelerating.

Old Cat, under the Tree of Life, watched the carnivorous plant gnaw on the corpse of an [Unknown Entity], and said slowly, “Hurry up, I’m waiting here. If you succeed, make the Tree of Life wiggle twice, and I’ll latch onto you.”

“If you fail, just resurrect quickly.”

The reason Old Cat didn’t teleport with Lu Yuan was that it was afraid of dying…

Old Cat wasn’t willing to gamble on whether the power of its diamond-like body was stronger or weaker than the safe zone’s barrier. Similarly, Lu Yuan couldn’t carry the old wolf with him… if he failed, they would die.

He carefully tidied his appearance, burying the remains of the [Demon] and [Ghost] – things he couldn’t put into his storage space – near the Tree of Life. (The Tree of Life had transformed into a carnivorous plant, and it’s quite a fighter now.)

“Old wolf, find a few she-wolves and stay in the sinkhole. We’ll be back in a few days.”

“Awooo!” The old wolf wagged its tail.

Lu Yuan went to the edge of the river and covered his eyes with the [Unknown Entity]’s “far-seeing corneal”. A massive amount of information flooded his mind. He patiently observed whether any light was emanating from the space.

Inside the safe zone, a large group of Rize people were anxiously waiting. They were even a hundred, a thousand times more excited than Lu Yuan! After all, Lu Yuan was just one person; if he couldn’t defeat an [Unknown Entity], he could still escape; but they were a civilization, tormented by [Unknown Entities] until now, unable to escape.

“Unbelievable! This is the friend who defeated the [Unknown Entity]… hahaha, he’s quite handsome too.”

    “Alien culture is really trendy.”

Well, actually Lu Yuan’s clothes were a bit faded, but they were still praising him wildly.

“Only this kind of warrior can defeat such a phenomenon…”

“I wonder what it would take to persuade him to teach our warriors.”

The scene was spectacular. Not only the supreme leader and soldiers but also a large wave of clan chiefs, who had somehow heard the news, came to watch in droves.

The Rize civilization, because they were born from eggs in nests, didn’t quite understand who their parents were, but they knew their siblings very well; therefore, people of the same generation often formed clan factions.

The existence of the [Unknown Entity] was common knowledge, a nightmare for all Rize people… Even in their sleep, they could be attacked by [Unknown Entities]. What kind of pressure was that?

Now, that nightmare-like existence had been killed! The scales on their faces changed color, their excitement impossible to hide. Some of the more emotionally fragile ones even shed tears of joy.

Of course, these onlookers were quickly driven away by the soldiers; after all, this was a matter of civilization, and no mistakes were allowed.

“Governor, the area requested by the other party is ready.”

The location for Lu Yuan’s spatial teleportation was in a parking lot near the safe zone, covering an area of 3000 square meters. The terrain was wide open and flat; once the cars were removed, it would be a ready-made open space.

Then, several large colored xenon lamps began to focus on a certain area of the barrier. The bright lines of light, caused by the Tyndall effect, were visible even in daylight.

“Governor, should we contact human civilization?”

Leon said loudly, “Of course we should! This is such a momentous occasion. Mr. Lu represents human civilization, coming to us!”

“He brings peace and friendship, and he is our benefactor!”

“And our seventh branch has become the representative of the Rize civilization.”

“From now on, our city will have greater influence… you should know the weight of this diplomatic event.”

Leon pressed the communicator button, feeling the vicissitudes of fate. They were originally the most hopeless city, their Transcendent Fire Seed even dead, with no future in sight. Now, they had become the most promising city…

Fate is truly bizarre and unpredictable.

    [Contacting human civilization, please wait…]

Human and Rize civilization contact had lasted more than twenty days, and the strangeness had faded somewhat. But it wasn’t like being among compatriots, where one could call and check up on each other anytime. Both sides still held a degree of apprehension, a kind of casual acquaintance, just having met.

“Lu Yuan, the intermediary connecting that Rize civilization… how often has he been communicating recently?” Mr. Li Chunhong, the top official of Yunhai City, happened to be inspecting the Supernatural Laboratory.

After more than a month, Yunhai City’s industrial system was slowly resuming operation. In particular, a large hydroelectric power station was being rapidly advanced with the full effort of the city.

Yunhai City’s location was excellent, with several wide and swift rivers flowing through the city from the edge of the safe zone. These rivers had a very large water flow, the geological conditions were relatively hard granite, the seismic intensity was low, making it an excellent location for building a hydroelectric power station. Once the hydroelectric power station was successfully built, it would provide a continuous supply of electricity, laying a solid foundation for industrial development. Especially smaller hydroelectric projects could be completed within weeks or months, solving some urgent problems.

Of course, the scarcity of resources remained a key problem. Oil and coal were still non-renewable, so the responsibility for resources rested entirely on the faster-growing supernatural plants.

“We have assessed that the overall technological level of the Rize civilization is three to fifty years behind ours…”

Professor Zhang Hui explained, “But it’s a mixed bag. Their biology is quite good, not much different from ours.”

“Also, their accumulated knowledge of supernatural phenomena is greater than ours. In their world, supernatural phenomena have appeared for thousands of years.”

“Supernatural phenomena have even suppressed the development of science to some extent. So they might have a richer understanding of some idealistic theories than we do.”

“More contact, more interaction, can’t hurt,” Li Chunhong said.

“By the way, what are the new developments in other cities?”

Zhang Hui smiled, “There are some. New York City’s City Hero program has officially begun… and the effects seem to be pretty good.”

“However, New York City hasn’t achieved the stable city milestone. I wonder if they’re too chaotic, or if the milestones have all been taken.”

“Over forty days, and it’s only in the top 100,000.”

“Pangu Continent truly has hidden dragons and crouching tigers… How many days did it take for this seventh branch of the Rize civilization to stabilize their city?” Li Chunhong asked with a smile.

Yunhai City completed that milestone the next day, which was a show of confidence.

“They won’t say, but they did stabilize quite quickly,” Zhang Hui said, “because they have a precognitive, someone who can foresee many things.”

“I see…” Precognition, that level of Divine Technique, is beyond envy.

“Also, Tokyo’s Transcendent Fire Seed died, and many scholars are planning to defect after the safe zone is lifted.”

Li Chunhong sighed, a smile playing on his lips for some unknown reason, “Could it be that a professor from Tokyo leaked this information?”

“Of course not, it was Professor Edward from New York City who told me…”

“Oh, and another piece of news: The ninth branch, Lingbo City, had a big incident during their democratic election – a military government took over, and quite a few people were eliminated.”

The ninth branch, Lingbo City, actually had good industrial capabilities and excellent scientific research capabilities, but its situation was quite dire. There was actually a phenomenon outside!

The most crucial thing was that Lingbo City was extremely immature, its political activities were like child’s play, still holding elections… This abnormal behavior could only be described as childish. But now, the military government taking over meant that public opinion was shifting rapidly. This Lingbo City civilization was very strange; it was either extremely left-wing or extremely right-wing, which might be related to its suppressed national character.

“Sigh, I wonder how it will develop,” Zhang Hui shook his head.

The more one knew, the more one understood the terror of the phenomena… If it weren’t for the fact that staying in the safe zone would lead to slow death, who would dare to go out? Who would want to?

The ninth branch had a phenomenon blocking its roads. Other human cities were also anxious. After all, the distance between cities wasn’t across the world; what if that phenomenon drifted over?

“Actually, having another civilization to compare ourselves to, having a bit of crisis, is also a good thing.”

    “Without competition, there’s no pressure…”

Just then, a line of text suddenly appeared on the screen of the large metal sphere, interrupting their conversation.

[The seventh branch of the Rize civilization is requesting contact with human civilization. Accept contact?]

“Oh?” Li Chunhong smiled, “Speak of the devil. It seems they have something to say.”

This contact request was sent to the communicators of all human cities… According to international conventions, a short wait was needed, until most cities were online, to connect together. In foreign exchanges, humanity had to be a whole; to connect first would be looked down upon by other civilizations.

The screen opened. Leon, the governor, wearing his usual white robe, smiled broadly. This race’s smile was also rather strange – their nostrils flared high, their eyes narrowed into slits, a little like a cow’s smile.

Well… alien civilizations are nothing new.

“Hello, human friends! We’re here to bring good news!”

“That is… what?” Professor Zhang Hui suddenly paused, manipulating the computer to enlarge a corner of the screen. Beyond the safe zone’s barrier, very far away, on the other side of the river, there seemed to be… a humanoid creature?!

Wearing human clothes, even jeans?! That was Lu Yuan!

Lu Yuan was outside the safe zone!!

Immediately, everyone in the conference room held their breath.

“Respected friends, today is a day worthy of celebration.”

Leon didn’t beat around the bush: “Look who this is? Our old friend, Mr. Lu Yuan, is outside the safe zone…”

Governor Leon’s words piqued everyone’s curiosity. In fact, humanity didn’t even know how he escaped from the [Demon]’s clutches. Much less that he had defeated an [Unknown Entity]!

“Quick, call his sister! His brother’s still alive!” Li Chunhong hurriedly said.

At the same time, Zhang Hui was already talking to Leon on the communicator.

    “Thank you, your Excellency!”

“To be able to see his image on Pangu Continent and know that he is healthy, we are very happy,” Zhang Hui immediately said, “He is also an important figure for us humans.”

“We express our sincere gratitude to you.”

“No, no, you misunderstand,” Leon quickly said, “Mr. Lu is about to cross the safe zone and visit our city.”

“Perhaps you will have a chance to talk to him directly… We aren’t just showing you his image; he’ll be here soon.”
