    Chapter 22: Cross-Boundary Hunter!

“Old brother, since you’re still alive, I can’t die either!”

“When we get back… I’ll definitely treat you to a good meal.” Lu Yuan pulled a piece of dried spider meat from his pocket, stuffing it into his mouth and chewing.

The dried spider meat contained substantial energy, but his supply was limited. He only dared use it in such critical moments.

His eyes were bloodshot, he was exhausted to the point of collapse, his brain felt like it was about to explode, his lungs felt like they were being pierced by steel needles, and his heart was pounding at 200 beats per minute.

His flushed skin made him look like a cooked monkey.

After replenishing some energy, Lu Yuan withdrew from the Astral Space, raised his spear, and lunged again at the fire lizard’s eye.

    “Kill!!”

The fire lizard, already panting heavily, saw its enemy reappear and furiously extended its front paw, attempting to swat the insignificant ant from its head.

    “Thwack!”

Lu Yuan was hit, staggering back as if run over by a car; his bones creaked. But mid-air, he forcefully activated the Astral Space again, protecting himself.

The next second, the Astral Space dissipated, and Lu Yuan fell to the ground, his clothes soaked in mud and water.

An unnatural flush appeared on his face, black spots danced before his eyes, and sweat blurred his vision.

This was the first time he had pushed himself to such an extreme. Utter pain wracked his body. A hundred days ago, he could never have imagined himself facing off against such a Transcendent monster in single combat.

There were countless reasons to escape, but only one reason to not run: his opponent was also nearing its end!

Yes, the fire lizard was truly nearing its end. Otherwise, that blow would have turned him into mush.

Now, he had only suffered minor injuries. Where exactly he was hurt didn’t matter; this was the true moment of the duel!

And so, Lu Yuan stubbornly climbed to his feet.

The fire lizard also got up, trembling, its single eye fixed on Lu Yuan, barely able to stand.

    It wanted to breathe fire!

But its fuel was depleted; it couldn’t produce any more.

    “Whoosh!”

From a distance of over ten meters, Lu Yuan hurled his spear, aiming for the lizard’s eye. A rope was attached to the spear, allowing for immediate retrieval. If the fire lizard pursued, he would simply run away.

Those ten meters were a chasm for a fire lizard poisoned, bleeding profusely, and exhausted from an indeterminate amount of exertion.

Lu Yuan was extremely fatigued, clinging to sheer willpower.

His eyes were bloodshot; his body and mind were on the verge of collapse.

The fire lizard retreated, turning to flee. It trembled, fear gripping it in the face of this tiny enemy.

    “You can’t escape!!”

Lu Yuan pursued relentlessly, recalling stories from the distant past: in ancient times, humans often relied on superior physical endurance and willpower to wear down their prey. Through relentless running, humans could run prey to death; through days and nights without sleep, they could tame eagles.

Lu Yuan ran and threw, tirelessly.

    Running… throwing…

These two actions continued until dawn…

The giant beast, its body covered in dried blood, lay prostrate on the ground, motionless.

As the first rays of dawn touched Lu Yuan’s cracked lips, he felt his heavy arms no longer belonged to him, and his legs were almost completely numb.

During that night, he had conquered much.

He had conquered his enemy, conquered himself, and conquered those damned “loneliness” lice.

He had won a new life.

    He had won everything!

“Hahaha! Haha!” Lu Yuan burst into laughter, forcefully planting his spear into the gravel. Even though he had no strength left, he raised both arms to greet the sunlight.

    What exhilaration!

    Unutterable exhilaration!!

In the universe, nothing is unconquerable!

A long-awaited, cold voice echoed in his ears: 【Congratulations on achieving the unique milestone: Cross-Boundary Hunter.】

【You are the first intelligent lifeform in the Ninth Epoch to single-handedly hunt a Transcendent lifeform across five Supra Grades.】

The milestone, somewhat unexpected yet entirely fitting, had appeared.

Gods only add the finishing touches; they don’t offer help in times of dire need.

“A milestone for crossing five grades… is there one for ten?”

“A hundred grades, too? Looks like I’ll be busy. I’m going to challenge a Da Luo Jin Xian,” Lu Yuan mused.

After his laughter subsided, extreme exhaustion set in. He was utterly disoriented, his mind a blank void, unable to even comprehend the reward bestowed upon him by the system.

    【Reward: Eternal Body…】

He simply crawled towards the faint red glow.

That faint glimmer of flame was the Transcendent Fire Seed emanating from the lizard’s corpse!

The fire lizard truly did possess a Transcendent Fire Seed!

    No wonder!

Rather, it felt like something he deserved.

He had to use his last reserves of will to utilize this seed and embark on the true path of Transcendence!!

    Pangu Continent, Safe Zone.

Lu Yuan’s arduous hundred days were merely a single day for the 17 human cities within the Safe Zone.

What could happen in a single day?

    Enough to cause societal chaos!

First, everyone experienced a real “wandering city journey”!

Earth vanished abruptly, leaving only 17 cities adrift in the cosmos.

    Gravity disappeared in that instant!

Under the influence of a mysterious force, these cities orbited in space before landing in a corner of Pangu Continent.

Such an extraordinary supernatural phenomenon naturally triggered massive public panic.

The internet went down, the power went out, and even the water supply was cut off!

Some people chose to stay home and do nothing.

    Others began looting supermarkets.

Rice, fruit, and vegetables were all looted!

Some people felt that humanity was on the verge of extinction and wanted to have one last thrill before dying, so they secretly pried open their landlady’s door…

In the face of disaster, everyone’s choices were different.

Some young couples were even passionately confessing their love, and the civil affairs bureau was suddenly filled with people lining up to register their marriage…

Even the civil affairs officer on duty was dumbfounded. These workers had just been about to escape, and yet a bunch of young people wanted to get married?

    Did the country still exist?

    Did registration even matter anymore?

Without electricity, computers couldn’t start, and the database was inaccessible.

But somehow, perhaps due to a sense of duty or perhaps due to being a little naive, this officer still sat at their desk, issuing marriage certificates to the young people and recording the registrants’ information with pen and paper.

“Congratulations everyone, here’s a candy! Please go home and wait for government notification!”
