Chapter 31: The Wonderful Uses of the Transcendent Fire Seed

Lu Yuan lay on the ground, paralyzed for several minutes. He felt utterly exhausted. Killing a lizard and doing so much work had left him unable to even wiggle a toe.

His entire body was covered in a sticky mixture of sweat and blood, sour and unpleasant. Eventually, he mustered his spirit and went outside the camp to wash himself.

After showering, he realized he had a slight fever – not a good sign.

With illness upon him, Lu Yuan’s only recourse was to tough it out, praying it wasn’t anything serious.

He pulled out a few more pieces of lizard meat and fed the she-wolves (except for the Old Wolf, which was allowed in the shelter, the other wolves were not permitted entry).

“I’ll leave the night watch to you guys. I’m going inside to sleep.”

“I really need a good sleep… probably ten or more hours.”

The she-wolves wagged their tails happily. They wholeheartedly accepted their new alpha.

“With these guys guarding outside, there shouldn’t be too much trouble… they’ll howl if there’s danger.”

Lu Yuan felt fortunate to have companions. Even though these companions couldn’t speak and weren’t very intelligent, they were still from the lower echelons of the Pangu Continent’s underworld, but they were reliable in a pinch.

He closed the metal door and took a small blue pill. Lying on his bed of straw, he drifted off into a deep sleep.

This sleep was incredibly deep and restful; his clear Qi rose, and his turbid Qi descended, as if he’d slept from the dawn of time on Pangu Continent to the end of the world.

Once upon a time, Lu Yuan had a great dream: to sleep until he woke naturally and to count money until his hands cramped.

Now, both dreams had come true! He could sleep as long as he wanted, and he had endless gold…

“If I had a pretty girlfriend, I’d really be a winner in life,” he sighed.

Lu Yuan stretched, realizing the sun was already high in the sky. After checking on the Old Wolf and confirming it was alright, he turned his attention to himself. His head ached intensely; his temples throbbed as if about to explode. His temperature was probably between 39 and 40 degrees Celsius, and his whole body ached.

    First, he checked his attributes.

[A boring human who has experienced a bloody battle, with lingering injuries currently healing.]

    [Disease Status: Influenza (early stage)]

Lu Yuan initially shrugged it off, patted his chest, and muttered to himself, “It’s just the flu, no big deal… What? The flu! My life is forfeit!”

Don’t think of “influenza” as a minor illness; in ancient times, it had another name: “seasonal epidemic”. A “seasonal epidemic” was a type of plague; entire villages dying wasn’t uncommon!

    [Physique: 4.4-5.5]

    [Qi: 3.4-4.6]

    [Spirit: 4.8-5.2]

    [Supra Grade: Level 1]

[Supra Abilities: Astral Space, Explorer’s Eye, Storage Space, Transcendent Fire Seed, Eternal Body.]

[Evaluation: Why does this boring human have six abilities? But regardless, this human is still a greenhorn, nothing to be proud of.]

His three main attributes fluctuated, likely due to the illness.

Lu Yuan felt that the evaluation’s tone had improved slightly. So many abilities—does it not respect my prowess?

“I need to find a way to treat myself. Otherwise, without anyone to take care of me, the illness might get worse.”

“That blue pill works by boosting immunity; it’s good against bacteria, so it should have some effect against viruses, too.”

So, what other options were there?

Lu Yuan thought of the “Transcendent Fire Seed” in his mind. The Transcendent Fire Seed was an extremely special ability that could be cultivated. Since it could continuously enhance his attributes, it could also be used to strengthen his immune system and fight off diseases. The Midea Civilization’s records contained information on this.

Lu Yuan closed his eyes calmly, and gradually, he saw a small, flickering red spark hidden in his mind, about the size of his fingertip, emitting a gentle light. This was the Transcendent Fire Seed.

Seeing it, Lu Yuan felt a deep sense of intimacy. Once ignited, the Transcendent Fire Seed would remain with him for life, extinguishing only upon his death, a testament to the saying “man dies, the light dies out.”

Lu Yuan took a deep breath and began to visualize his body. Starting from his beating heart, to his writhing muscles, and to his expanding and contracting lungs—he could sense his organs vaguely.

Fortunately, he knew that influenza viruses primarily attacked the lungs, respiratory tract, and nose. He slowly transferred the Transcendent Fire Seed to these organs.

The Fire Seed emitted waves of warmth, continuously nourishing these cells.

After three hours, Lu Yuan reopened his eyes and gently exhaled a breath of turbid air. He was drenched in sweat! His headache was gone; his high fever had reduced to a low-grade one, and he felt a hundred times better!

“Wow… what an amazing ability! In just half a day, the flu is almost completely cured. In the past, it would have taken at least a week,” Lu Yuan exclaimed, clenching his fist in surprise.

“No wonder only civilizations that have mastered the Transcendent Fire Seed are qualified to explore the Pangu Continent.”

“Otherwise, a single plague could cripple an entire army.”

Next, he studied the new ability, “Eternal Body”. This was a passive ability that couldn’t be actively used. It was the only milestone reward for hunting the fire lizard across five levels. Its effect was: [greatly increases lifespan, grants limb regeneration, keeps ability values permanently at peak levels, and prevents aging until the end of life].

Human beings strictly adhere to the principle of “use it or lose it”. Progress is difficult, requiring years of training. But regression is easy, happening even within days. The saying “a day without practice makes one clumsy, two days without practice halves one’s skill, three days without practice makes one an outsider” describes this “use it or lose it” effect.

With “Eternal Body”, his physical functions would remain at their peak for a long time. Once he trained something, there would be minimal degradation.

“With so many passive abilities stacked up, it’s quite possible to become a superhuman.”

It was undeniably a powerful ability that saved a huge amount of training time.

Moreover, Lu Yuan secretly suspected that his lifespan had increased, and perhaps his appearance was fixed? He was only 24 years old and still quite handsome. If his physical form was fixed, that was unbelievably amazing!

“Even at 1000 years old, I could still be virile, leaving women completely smitten.”

His headache was gone, his depression vanished, and his excessive energy brought new worries.

“Perhaps, my ‘sage mode’ duration will also shorten… my recovery ability is enhanced, so I should…”

Lu Yuan smiled contentedly, then suddenly remembered something and sighed sadly: “But as long as I don’t return to Earth, even if I live for a thousand years, I’ll still only be scraping by—how tragic!”
