Chapter 52: Stealing from the Man-Eating Flower

“What a bountiful winter! I love winter.” Lu Yuan took out a glass jar and quietly collected a large bucket of it.

Amber honey, nestled within the clear jar, resembled a large gemstone. The honey was thick and viscous, emitting an alluring fragrance.

He was a believer in sustainable development. After filling several glass jars, he sealed the wounds on the beehive with beeswax, then retreated quietly through the snow-covered passage.

He picked up a few leaves from the ground and meticulously wiped his dagger clean: “Divine equipment that takes a hundred years to forge must be properly maintained.”

Giant corn, honey brewed by mutated bees – today’s harvest was already substantial.

Other transcendent plants were located much farther away, a fifteen-kilometer journey.

Many mutated plants had already been ravaged by the surrounding animals. Those remaining either had extremely high reproductive rates but low nutritional value, leading to their widespread abundance, or possessed self-defense mechanisms or were guarded by protectors, like the large brown bear guarding its treasure.

However, Lu Yuan wasn’t entirely satisfied. He still craved the fruit of the large man-eating flower.

That fruit had tempted him for months!

The thought of that fruit, resembling a dragon fruit and imbued with an elegant aura, instantly made the corn and honey seem unappetizing.

Once winter passed, there would be no more opportunities. Even if his Supra Grade rose to level 2 or 3, it would be difficult to directly confront the man-eating flower.

With that in mind, Lu Yuan made up his mind to obtain a few fruits to sample.

His plan was simple: dig a tunnel!

Since digging a tunnel had fooled the bees, perhaps it could also fool the man-eating flower? In any case, Lu Yuan possessed the ability to save himself; escape was more than sufficient.

“Old Wolf, you go back and eat some fish. I’m going to pull off a big one; I’m not coming home today.”

After receiving the instructions, Old Wolf left without looking back. It had already eaten royal jelly and was thoroughly fed up with the icy wasteland, wanting to return to its den and lie down.

    Truly a thankless wolf.

Lu Yuan picked up a shovel and began slowly digging a tunnel in the snow.

The man-eating flower’s territory was a full kilometer in radius, so Lu Yuan would have to dig at least a kilometer-long snow tunnel – a long journey.

He was patient, carefully selecting a favorable location beneath a branch laden with dozens of heavy, glittering fruits.

Then, he waited until nightfall to begin his operation.

Dark clouds obscured the full moon, and the snow intensified. The lower layers of snow, compressed by weight, became increasingly hard, like grit.

Lu Yuan, unable to bear the cold, exhaled warm air and ate some honey to warm himself before resuming his digging.

He discovered he had truly become stronger. His willpower was many times stronger than when he first arrived on the Pangu Continent.

    Was a kilometer-long tunnel long?

Indeed, it was. He would have to dig slowly for several days. If discovered by the man-eating flower, all his efforts would be wasted.

Therefore, he would dig primarily at night, when the temperature was lower. During the day, he would bury himself in the snow, remaining motionless.

The immense psychological pressure was something his former self wouldn’t even have dared to imagine.

But compared to the vast and seemingly endless journey ahead, it was merely a minor difficulty.

“I’ll leave here someday…” Lu Yuan suddenly had a thought, “Whether it’s reaching divine milestones or increasing my strength, it’s all to return to my human homeland.”

    Thoughts flooded his mind.

“Why return to my homeland? Isn’t it good here? The data left behind by the Midea Civilization could keep you studying for a lifetime. Can you even return to your homeland? Do you know how many Supra Grades there are? Who says there are only 10 levels?”

“Maybe there are a hundred, a thousand levels! You’re just a tiny ant; can you go back?

Lu Yuan felt a faint sense of melancholy. Even at his strongest, he lacked sufficient confidence.

Ultimately, his brain and his… lower regions issued a resounding voice: He must go home!

It was a girl from a neighboring class, quiet and elegant.

On a sunny morning, the girl skipped and hopped down the hallway, her pink sweater, slightly raised chest, fair neck, and smiling lips resembling a happy fawn. That impulsive girl in pink had bumped into Lu Yuan, leaving a deep impression on him.

Brain and… lower regions: What was that girl’s name again?

“Of course I remember! She was called…”

Lu Yuan faltered. What was her name again?

Brain and… lower regions: It’s okay if you can’t remember. We really want to see… you know… the kind you can only see after you go back home…

    Lu Yuan: …

Immediately, his resolve hardened. No matter what, he had to go home. Returning home was a tradition of the Daxia Civilization!

As a result, more distracting thoughts flooded his mind: Then hurry up! Why are you so slow? Hurry up! Go home now! Get on the road! You’ve wasted so much time!

These terrible distractions consumed Lu Yuan’s mind, spreading like ants.

    Unnamed whispers extended everywhere.

The blood vessels on his body swelled one by one, and he began to lose control.

The “Transcendent Fire Seed” in Lu Yuan’s mind leaped.

He immediately realized something was wrong and viciously bit the tip of his tongue. The intense pain brought him back to a degree of clarity.

[Status: Hypothermia (Mild), Pollen Poisoning (Poisoned).]

Lu Yuan was startled and immediately activated the Astral Space to protect himself.

    Pollen poisoning.

He gasped for air, the Transcendent Fire Seed in his mind constantly throbbing, clearing the toxins from his lungs and brain.

The man-eating flower truly was a regional-level big boss. Lu Yuan had always thought its only ability was its “vines,” with a slightly larger range of attack.

He hadn’t expected that a small amount of pollen floating in the air could almost kill him.

“That’s just winter pollen. If it were spring, even a little bit would have been fatal.”

After five hours, the “Pollen Poisoning” debuff finally disappeared.

    “Whew, back to work.”

With experience, Lu Yuan became more cautious. He dug in the snow for an hour, then rested in the Astral Space to clear the pollen. During the day, he simply hid in the cave and slept for a few hours.

It was arduous labor. Because of the pollen, the working time was far longer than expected.

After several days, Lu Yuan heard Old Wolf’s howls.

    “Howl!”

    “Howl!!”

Under the moonlight, the wolf’s howls from the high slopes echoed wave after wave.

In the silent forest, they spread far and wide…
