Landing 500 Years Early, I Became a God by Digging for Treasures 6
by adminChapter 6: God Glitched Again
After Lu Yuan inputted the string of numbers, a soft “click” sounded—the spring in the mechanical lock released. It sounded severely rusty, reluctant to spring open.
With a gentle pull, the metal door creaked open with a sharp “screech.”
A wave of decaying air rushed towards him.
Decaying pillars, ancient walls, remnants of a lost civilization, the passage of time etched deep.
How much prosperity, now long gone; how much watching, things changed, people changed.
The ancient atmosphere was incredibly thick.
Just as Lu Yuan was sighing, a black lightning bolt shot towards his head!
“Holy crap!”
A chill shot from his tailbone to the top of his head.
Lu Yuan’s pupils dilated slightly. He hadn’t completely lost his mind; he was still wary of a “door ambush.”
The moment he sensed danger, he immediately activated his “Astral Space” ability.
The black, strange creature missed its target, landing on the ground with a “thump.”
Lu Yuan broke out in a cold sweat. Hiding in the Astral Space, he looked closely and saw it was a basketball-sized spider!
Its eight compound eyes glowed crimson, its sharp fangs dripping with a faintly green venom.
Even more terrifying were the two eye-like patterns on its back. A mere glance caused a dizzying sensation, rapidly accelerating his heartbeat.
“You goddamn thing dares bully me?!?”
A day earlier, Lu Yuan would have been terrified, waiting for the spider to leave before exiting the Astral Space. But now he was starving, having searched for food for hours.
The terrifying hunger made his eyes glow green; everything looked like a chicken leg!
“I’ll be eating bugs anyway…this spider is a big bug, and it looks delicious!”
He immediately made his decision.
The instant the spider tried to retreat back into the house, Lu Yuan viciously swung his snake-scale axe.
“Thwack!”
The axe, suddenly bursting from the Astral Space, was virtually impossible to defend against; it smashed into the giant spider’s eye with blinding speed.
“Clang!”
Lu Yuan’s pupils constricted. The axe felt like hitting a lump of iron, his tiger’s mouth (the area between the thumb and forefinger) numb, his arm muscles aching.
But regardless, the eyes were always a weak point in defense; one blow sent foul-smelling fluids splashing everywhere.
The monster wasn’t dead!
It was still alive, and it wanted to fight back!
Its six spider legs tensed, preparing for an attack.
Lu Yuan’s temples throbbed as he lunged forward, using his size advantage to savagely pin down the giant spider.
The cold, hard chitinous feel made his scalp tingle.
“Zheeah!”
A sharp roar emanated from the spider’s mouth.
Lu Yuan had a premonition: if the spider stung him, he would die of poison!
This wasn’t the time to retreat!!
“Die!”
He swung the axe again, hitting the spider’s head.
The snake-scale axe made a sharp “crack”—the wood was about to break!
The spider was still struggling!
It was hard to believe that this basketball-sized monster possessed such immense strength!
Lu Yuan’s originally handsome face was now flushed crimson, his veins bulging. While holding the spider down, he delivered a third blow!
A fourth blow!
Because of the excessive force, a piece of snake scale flew off the wooden handle.
“Die, die!”
Lu Yuan roared, jamming the wooden handle into the wound, pushing it deeper and deeper!
Finally…the spider lay still on the ground.
Lu Yuan panted heavily. After regaining his composure and wiping the cold sweat from his brow, he started questioning his life choices…
Did I just lose my mind, provoking this thing?
Did I…want to eat this thing?
“Can you eat spiders?”
“Grilled, it should be fine…I remember a delicious dish called grilled black widow.”
As he thought about it, his gaze towards the large spider changed.
His mood lifted; he could practically describe it as elated!
He estimated its weight.
Maybe 10 pounds!
Removing the shell and innards, there must be at least five pounds of meat, right?
Lu Yuan’s heart suddenly raced. The turning point of fate was so swift, the excitement in that moment was almost overwhelming.
“Is this a spider? This is clearly a chicken leg! The source of happiness!”
“Absolutely edible!”
Only a cold statement interrupted his jubilation.
God’s black humor had begun again.
[Your civilization has achieved a unique milestone: The Ninth Epoch’s First Hunter.]
[Unlock Condition: The first civilization to kill a higher-level Transcendent being.]
[Congratulations on killing the Ruin Guardian, a higher-level Transcendent being, the Hell Spider.]
[In the vast universe, countless civilizations compete for survival; in the boundless cosmos, countless beings vie for dominance. In the near-infinite expanse of time, some higher beings stand out, becoming powerful enough to hunt down an entire civilization.]
[But the roles of hunter and hunted can always be reversed. Congratulations, Ninth Epoch’s First Hunter.]
“What the hell?” Lu Yuan was dumbfounded. This spider could destroy a civilization?
And I hacked it to death?
What a load of bull!
Then, he realized with a wry smile that God seemed to have glitched again.
It was only the second day since the opening of the Pangu Continent.
This spider was still in its youth; it would need to develop for several decades or even centuries, or perhaps give birth to a large number of offspring, before it could possess the power to destroy a civilization.
But Old Lu, being unscrupulous, charged into the ruins on the second day and slaughtered it.
If this spider had intelligence, it would surely curse Lu Yuan: Why did you show up here?
This shouldn’t be happening!!
Shouldn’t you let me develop for a while?
This sneaky bastard, I’m really impressed.
[You have received the Unique Milestone reward: Storage Space. Allows you to create a space that you can carry with you, where the flow of time is almost stopped, allowing you to perfectly preserve your spoils.]
[The size of the Storage Space depends on your personal ability.]
[Your civilization has received a Unique Milestone points reward: 5000 points. (This function has not yet been enabled).]
“Give me a fighting ability!!!” Lu Yuan howled to the heavens.
He’d figured out that God didn’t seem to grant combat abilities; it would at most give him some support abilities.
Of course, whether it’s the “Explorer’s Eye” or “Storage Space,” they were all incredibly powerful abilities, especially for a civilization; their value was self-evident.
But for Lu Yuan, would he trade them for a bowl of beef noodles?
Hmm…
Definitely not!
He had a spider to eat; only a fool would trade!
But if he could trade these three abilities to get sent back to Earth by God, he would absolutely trade!
