Chapter 143: Alice Is on Her Way

Shen Sui found it hard to comment.

Was Alice’s level of making friends already at the level of a succubus, or was Ayina, this naive Holy Child Elf, just too easy to deceive?

How could she get a follower card after just one meeting?

If other Fate Card Masters knew that their Soul Cards had such an efficient way of making friends, they would probably be green with envy.

But on second thought, Ayina’s trust in Alice did have its reasons.

Holy Child Elves all possess Mother Tree Crystals given by the Natural Holy Tree, and they have a very clear perception of others’ malice. Alice was genuinely approaching Ayina; her desire to save Fremya wasn’t a lie told to please Ayina—she truly intended to do so.

Although, until now, Alice still didn’t know how to break Vivian’s seal.

But Alice was just that kind of person. When she decided to help a friend, she focused on the act of helping itself; how to overcome the challenges that followed was something she’d figure out when she faced them.

It has to be said that although Alice was unreliable and overly fond of stirring up trouble, as a friend, she was a very reassuring presence.

There was Anna before, and Harley after.

As long as they were Alice’s friends, even if they had to face a god, Alice wouldn’t hesitate for a second.

The sorceress Hozerville, stirred the entire world for the sake of friendship.

This was something that most others wouldn’t understand.

    It’s really similar.

Shen Sui showed a proud smile, like a father.

The protagonist of a magical girl anime.

[Ayina agreed to take Alice to the Elf Forest.]

[Alice then remembered to ask Ayina about the purpose of her trip.]

[After Ayina’s explanation, Alice learned that in recent years, the Natural Holy Tree had been suffering from strange ailments, and the elders were at a loss. They finally thought of Modena, the legendary miracle city from a thousand years ago, and wanted Ayina to search for a legendary artifact that could purify all negative states.]

    Oh.

Seeing this, Shen Sui knew what artifact the elves were looking for.

    The grimoire, Naive Abhorrence.

A magical grimoire that purifies all negative effects was on Shen Sui’s person.

Actually, Shen Sui wasn’t lacking in purification methods. Because of his long list of buffs, it was incredibly difficult to get him into a negative state.

However, Naive Abhorrence had a very special property: after purifying a target, it would briefly generate an abhorrent derivative possessing all the target’s power.

When Shen Sui fought bosses, he liked to use Abhorrence on himself, then he could cheerfully gang up on the boss.

This wasn’t because he couldn’t beat them, but simply to speed up the main storyline.

[Alice looked at Anna; she subconsciously thought Ayina was referring to the Sinful Holy Grail.]

[Ayina guessed Alice’s thoughts and said, “The Sinful Holy Grail cannot affect the Mother Tree.”]

[Mother Tree is the Holy Child Elf’s name for the Natural Holy Tree.]

[“Speaking of which, what do you want to see my mother for?” Ayina finally asked the question that had been on her mind. Although naive, she wasn’t stupid; she knew she couldn’t casually bring danger into the Elf Forest.]

[Alice said, “I want to ask Fremya to save someone.”]

[Perhaps, it will be a mutual rescue. Alice thought silently.]

[“Save someone? But my mother isn’t good at healing.”]

[“Huh?” Alice blinked, immediately looking at Andori, who was arguing with the Golden Ship on her horse’s tail.]

[“This is… the Wood Element Empress?” Ayina looked at Andori in surprise.]

[“Yo, young Holy Child Elf.” Andori greeted Ayina indifferently, then turned back to argue with the Golden Ship.]

[“I’ll say it again! I’m the great Wood Element Empress! Not bait! Even if those fish like to bite me!”]

    [The little mare snorted.]

    [Andori exploded in anger.]

Amidst the commotion, Ayina led Alice and the others toward the Elf Forest.

There was a reason why the elf elders sent Ayina out.

Holy Child Elves have a close connection with the Natural Holy Tree. Once in danger, the Holy Child Elf can return to the Natural Holy Tree’s side through the Mother Tree Crystal, greatly increasing Ayina’s safety when she’s out.

But the elf elders probably didn’t expect that Ayina would be so naive and easily accept Alice’s proposal, bringing her to the Elf Forest.

For the elves, this was either a crisis or an opportunity—even Shen Sui wasn’t sure.

He was actually a little afraid that Alice would burn down the entire Elf Forest.

To be honest, Alice was really capable of doing such a thing.

Alice’s group once again embarked on their journey.

Since leaving the village, Alice had been constantly on the road. This made Shen Sui feel somewhat guilty.

If he had the chance, he would let Alice find a place to settle down.

At least give her a home to rely on when she was adventuring outside.

Shen Sui looked at Alice moving across the screen and suddenly thought of himself.

As a time traveler, didn’t he also lack a home in the real world?

    However…

Shen Sui looked at the card deck in his hand.

    Who says I don’t?

    His gaze instantly hardened.

Good, the next goal: compete in tournaments, rank up.

Then, when he had enough money, he would look for a suitable house to buy.

At least one that could accommodate a dragon and a giant…

    Shen Sui thought.

If that didn’t work, he could buy a detached house and use space magic to expand the space inside.

If he brought Claude’s power into it, it wouldn’t be that difficult.

Thinking this, Shen Sui looked at the newly acquired follower card.

    ******

Card Name: [Holy Child Elf Ayina]

    Type: Follower Card

    Star Rating: 12 Stars

Effect: Once per turn, you can reveal a Fate Card in your hand, then choose a Fate Card of the same type from your deck and add it to your hand.

    Spirit Value: 4500

    ******

A very concise effect, but exactly what Shen Sui needed.

The moment Shen Sui saw Ayina’s effect, his eyes lit up.

    Unconditional retrieval once per turn.

    No star rating restrictions.

    No spirit value restrictions.

    No type restrictions.

    Whoa! What an angel.

It’s a pity it can only retrieve from the deck; if it could also retrieve from the graveyard and banished zone, it would be even better.

Shen Sui tried to modify Ayina’s effect, but found that even by reducing her spirit value, he couldn’t expand the retrieval range. He had no choice but to give up and restore Ayina’s spirit value to its original state.

It only adds to the hand, and needs to pay a cost to be activated, why is it restricted so tightly?

Shen Sui complained as he used the remaining star rating space to add a “once per duel” non-destruction effect to Ayina.

“Once per duel, this follower is immune to destruction by battle or card effects.”

    Adjusting after the fact.

In addition, the card effect of Qisara has been slightly adjusted. The adjusted effect is as follows:

    ******

Card Name: [Star Abyss White Dragon Qisara]

    Type: Follower Card

    Star Rating: 14 Stars

Effect: This card’s Normal Summon does not require tribute. You must release 5 of your own field Followers to Normal Summon this card. This card is unaffected by other card effects during the turn it is Normal Summoned.

①This follower’s attacks that do not destroy a Follower do not count towards its attack count. When this follower destroys another Follower by battle, you can perform a Follower Judgement; if the discarded card is a Follower Card, this card gains an additional attack. If not, the battle damage dealt by this attack is 0.

②When calculating the attack damage of this Follower, only the original Spirit Values of both sides are used (those with an original Spirit Value of “?” are treated as 0).

    Spirit Value: 6000

    ******
