Let them print cards, not slay gods 39
by adminChapter 39: This is the Real Duel! (Triple Update, Please Read!)
“My turn!”
Yuan Youxin’s lips curled into a smirk.
This duel was already won!
[Over! Why does this fishing-for-easy-wins guy always go first?! I thought I’d see him get crushed by a newbie.]
In the live stream comments, the audience started to become pessimistic.
The underdog defeating the strong was the kind of script people loved to see. Furthermore, because Yuan Youxin, possessing professional-level skill, stubbornly remained in amateur competitions to collect prize money, most viewers were naturally biased towards Shen Sui.
Of course, some extreme Xin Yuan fans didn’t think so. Seeing Yuan Youxin go first, they were already popping the champagne.
[Hahaha! Yuan God goes first, isn’t that an automatic win? Just blindly bet on Yuan God winning.]
Someone had once compiled Yuan Youxin’s win rate, discovering that his win rate when going first was as high as 65.2%. For Fate Card duels, which involved a bit of luck, a 65.2% win rate was astonishingly high.
This was related to Yuan Youxin’s deck composition. This aggressively expanding deck, once it secured the first turn, would lay down a board that the opponent simply couldn’t handle in the first round. And unlike the castrated version of Xu Tianzhi’s deck in the duel exam, Yuan Youxin’s deck contained counters, and some minions had resistances. It wasn’t something Shen Sui could clear with a single [Arson] card.
“Ready to accept your defeat, kid!”
Yuan Youxin smirked, revealing a confident smile. “Since I have no minions on the field! I activate the effect of the minion card [Qing Shan Guest Lin Yi] in my hand! Special Summon him from my hand.”
[Here it comes! Yuan God’s classic Guest opening.]
[Fast forward, fast forward! I want to see that kid’s despairing look.]
However, before the light of the Special Summon could appear, Shen Sui’s voice rang out.
“At this moment,” Shen Sui said calmly.
Yuan Youxin froze. It was his turn, why would the opponent’s timing matter?
“When your opponent activates an effect with Special Summon or retrieval, discard [Sinful Saint Anna] from my hand into the graveyard to activate its effect,” Shen Sui drew Anna from his hand, “negate the effect and send the card to the graveyard.”
A crisp sound announced the destruction of [Blue Seal Guest Lin Yi].
“Hand trap? I didn’t expect you to have such a precious Fate Card in your hand.” Yuan Youxin was somewhat surprised. Hand traps in Fate Card duels were as rare as event cards and environment cards.
“Lucky guess.”
Shen Sui lied.
Anna’s original effect didn’t originally include a hand trap effect. Shen Sui felt his current deck lacked necessary hand traps, but he didn’t have many minions. Seeing Anna’s high star rating, which could accommodate stronger effects, he added the hand trap effect.
If he truly relied on random card draws, who knew when he’d draw a hand trap.
“But it’s useless~! In my first turn, no one can stop my expansion!” Yuan Youxin snorted coldly, “Let me show you what real field control is!”
“Paying 10 Soul Points! From my hand, I activate! The magic card [Blue Seal Summoning Order]! Paying 3000 life points! I reveal the top cards of my deck in order, Special Summoning the revealed [Blue Seal] minion cards until there are no empty minion slots on my field!”
With the activation of [Blue Seal Summoning Order], a gentle humming sound rose from Yuan Youxin’s deck, followed by a divine light showering the field. Yuan Youxin’s deck was revealed card by card. Every time a minion card was revealed, that minion was immediately summoned to the field.
“At this moment,” the instant Yuan Youxin’s first minion was successfully Special Summoned, Shen Sui spoke again, “I activate the effect of [Sinful Saint Anna] in the graveyard. When she’s in the graveyard, if the opponent successfully Special Summons a minion, this effect must be activated. I draw a card from my deck, then take 500 un-sourced damage.”
“????” Yuan Youxin froze.
Could effect resolutions be interrupted mid-resolution?
However, the activation of [Blue Seal Summoning Order] couldn’t be stopped. One by one, disciples of the Blue Seal Sect were Special Summoned onto the field until all five of Yuan Youxin’s minion slots were full.
Shen Sui drew five cards as a result. At the same time, his life points dropped to 3500 due to Anna’s effect. He had no choice; without the damage restriction, he couldn’t have squeezed both hand trap effects onto one card.
“Powerful cards often come with risks,” Shen Sui said regretfully, then grinned, “However, at this time, I activate the effect of [Sinful Saint Anna] in the graveyard. When she is in the graveyard, if the opponent successfully activates a spell card effect, this effect must be activated. Reveal one card from my hand, and reduce that card’s star level to 0.”
Yuan Youxin’s eyelids twitched: What the heck?! Again?!
[Damn! Fake card!]
[This card needs to go on the Forbidden Card list, right? Too disgusting!]
[It’s just a first-time encounter kill, right? I can just not expand my field.]
[The ones above haven’t played the game, right? Cloud players?]
The barrage of comments also started to discuss Shen Sui’s card.
Shen Sui also thought this card was quite absurd; when he was writing the effects, he didn’t expect Anna’s stats to be so good, allowing him to cram all the effects he could think of onto it.
So the question was, would this card be banned?
First, the Fate Card Association wasn’t that idle; they wouldn’t constantly monitor unranked and low-ranked Card Masters to ban cards; their main focus was maintaining the balance of power in A-class and B-class competitions.
Second, due to the previous abuse of the banlist system, the government strictly ordered the Fate Card Association to reform the banlist process. Now, for the same Card Master, the Fate Card Association’s banlist process has a six-month cooldown. This means that within six months of a banlist review, no matter how many people report your cards, they won’t be accepted into the banlist procedure. (A single banlist review doesn’t necessarily mean only one card is reviewed. If your deck is controversial, the Fate Card Association will group potentially banned cards together for review.)
Unfortunately, this was a superficial solution, not addressing the root of the problem.
Third… heh heh, this gets to a little bug in the Fate Card Association’s banlist rules.
Due to the way Fate Cards are obtained, Card Masters obtain far fewer minion cards from the Soul Card world than spell cards. In this case, if you ban the already scarce minion cards of other Card Masters, how can they even duel? You can’t expect people to win with only spells, can you?
Therefore, the Fate Card Association’s banlist rules stipulate that non-professional players’ minion cards cannot be included in the banlist process, and if the number of professional players’ minion cards is no more than one-third of the total number of cards in their deck, then their minion cards also cannot enter the banlist process.
Incidentally, to prevent professional players from circumventing banlist review by adjusting their decks, the number of minion cards here is based on the deck they used when winning professional competitions.
What if they lost all their professional matches? If they lost everything, how could their deck possibly contain banned cards?
Shen Sui had specifically studied the banlist rules to exploit the Fate Card Association’s gold coins.
Back then, he lamented the banlist cooldown period.
He dared to use Anna because he wasn’t afraid of her being banned.
“Come on, let me see what real expansion looks like,” Shen Sui looked at Yuan Youxin and smiled.
A provocation!
This guy is provoking me!
Yuan Youxin’s eyelids twitched wildly.
Dear readers! Tuesday, please help me out! Give me some reads!
