Chapter 79: Shen Sui’s Resolution is Set (Seeking Further Reads!)

[Ding! You have obtained the equipment magic card: Vivian’s Ninth Diary]

The instant he finished reading the diary, Shen Sui received a notification about obtaining a new Fate Card. However, this time, he felt little joy, even a touch of sadness.

Vivian had poured her pain and confusion, her longing for him, onto the pages of her diary. The words on the diary flowed like a river, overflowing the screen. Even separated by the solid barrier of two worlds, Shen Sui felt the surge of emotion.

No matter what, he had to find Vivian.

Shen Sui’s eyes flickered. On the Dawn Continent, there was no true death. Anyone could die, anyone could be resurrected. Gods could revive after dusk, and people could awaken from death.

[Alice has explored the cave. She stands cautiously behind you. She wanted to share her discoveries, but seeing your expression, she hesitates to disturb your silence.]

[Ding! You have obtained the permanent magic card: Adoso’s Summoning Ritual]

[Ding! You have obtained the magic card: Elemental Descent]

Alice seemed to have found some of Vivian’s magic books. Shen Sui, seeing the series of notifications about obtaining magic cards, snapped out of his reverie.

[Andori yawns sitting on Alice’s shoulder. She has just awakened and, though mostly recovered, is still somewhat fatigued.]

A daring idea suddenly struck Shen Sui. He typed a command, casting a spell on Andori to accelerate her recovery.

[Andori has regained her spirits. She flies happily around before finally landing on your shoulder.]

[“It’s still more comfortable sitting here, Claude,” Andori chirped. “This girl is too skinny. Really, we’re both girls, why doesn’t she even have a chest soft enough to be used as a bed?”]

[Andori’s mockery makes Alice very angry. She pouts and glares at Andori.]

I said, don’t use your physique to judge the human body structure! While Alice does indeed have a small chest, a chest usable as a bed doesn’t exist for humans, okay!

Wait, maybe it does exist. I remember the Frost Giant girls…

Damn it, what am I thinking about?!

Shen Sui slapped his forehead. He inputted a command, instructing Andori to summon several Wood Elemental guards. This was one of the Element Empress’ abilities. As the leader of elemental beings on the Dawn Continent, the Element Empress could summon powerful elemental creatures of her corresponding element.

Shen Sui remembered his deal with Yue Tao, so he asked Andori to summon several wood elemental creatures. Andori, having signed a life contract with Shen Sui, carried out his command without hesitation.

[Giant elemental guards appear behind Alice.]

    [Alice feels a chilling wind.]

[“From now on, you will train with these elemental beings,” you tell Alice. “And you can bring Anna and Harley along. The War God Temple is still too dangerous for you now. If you cannot defeat these elemental guards, I will not allow you to go there.”]

[Ding! You have obtained the follower card: Wood Elemental Guard]

[Ding! You have obtained the follower card: Wood Elemental Archer]

[Ding! You have obtained the follower card: Wood Elemental Warrior]

Shen Sui’s plan was actually very simple. The recovered Andori possessed a strength close to Rank 14; as long as she didn’t face the gods of this world, she could basically do whatever she wanted. By leaving her to protect Alice, his perspective could temporarily leave Alice, allowing him to explore various parts of the Dawn Continent.

Many Fate Card Masters have already experimented with separating their perspective from their Soul Card to explore the world independently, especially those whose Soul Card worlds are mundane. Because their Soul Cards are generally not in life-threatening danger, they can control their assigned characters to roam freely in the Soul Card world; some have even developed new careers there.

Some have even started families and built homes in the Soul Card world, posting screenshots of loving interactions with their “Soul Card wives” on the forums every day.

[Damn it, stop posting! Dare to duel me! I’ll beat the crap out of your wife in a duel, you bastard!]

Every time someone posts such screenshots, someone will comment below.

Incidentally, the vast majority of Fate Card Masters are not that faithful; having a wife in the Soul Card world and a girlfriend in the real world is commonplace.

However, this method is too dangerous for Fate Card Masters in extraordinary Soul Card worlds. After all, in those worlds, their Soul Cards might be in danger of death the next second. How dare a Card Master casually switch perspectives? This perspective switch isn’t like cutting a scene in a game; it’s the Card Master’s controlled character physically moving around in the Soul Card world. If they get too far, they really can’t get back.

Shen Sui had previously considered exploring alone, as some places were too dangerous to bring Alice.

But this was ultimately risky. There were areas and items on the Dawn Continent that could block magic. If Alice entered those no-magic zones, he wouldn’t be able to teleport back using spatial magic, and if anything happened to Alice, it would be a disaster.

Now it was different. With Andori, he could use their life contract to perform instantaneous spatial teleportation without any restrictions, and Rank 14 Andori could also protect Alice well.

Furthermore, if Shen Sui could summon Qisara’s soul and obtain Qisara’s Soul Card, then he could completely ignore Alice. Because at that time, he would have a second Soul Card on the Dawn Continent; even if something happened to Alice, he could switch to Qisara’s perspective and continue his activities on the Dawn Continent.

    Shen Sui wouldn’t abandon Alice.

Though they had only been together for a little over a month, Shen Sui had developed feelings for Alice – although he always felt it was a kind of paternal feeling. Watching Alice grow was quite satisfying – as long as she didn’t keep causing trouble.

After reading Vivian’s diary, Shen Sui revised his plan once more.

He would stick to his original plan of feigning weakness at the War God Temple, losing to the War God, to make Alice fully realize the necessity of improving her strength.

On top of that, Shen Sui planned to find an opportunity to summon Qisara’s soul to obtain a complete second Soul Card.

After that, he could temporarily detach himself from Alice’s perspective and travel to various parts of the Dawn Continent to search for Vivian.

Even though it was still through a screen, Shen Sui now clearly understood that this was reality, not a game. Some regrets couldn’t be remedied with a restart; he would make up for all these regrets with his own efforts.

A thousand years ago, Vivian was searching for a way to call out to him.

A thousand years later, it’s his turn to find this silly girl.
