Chapter 112: Astonishing Teaching Results (35)
Kotetsu swiftly approached, encountering Kanzou returning. They exchanged smiles and lightly bumped fists.
“Kanzou, I succeeded! Now it’s your turn,” Kanzou said, his face brimming with uncontainable joy.
Recalling the battle, he couldn’t help but cheer himself on. A first-year student defeating a fourth-year student, calmly seizing an opportunity to strike a decisive blow… truly ninja-like.
Kotetsu believed the Third Hokage would remember his name.
“What a pity I couldn’t spread the fame of Ebisu-sensei,” he thought, feeling a pang of regret.
Because of Ebisu’s repeated emphasis, Kotetsu didn’t act like he did last time.
He thought Ebisu was wonderful in every way, except for being too low-key, unwilling to let others know his prowess.
After watching Kanzou’s fight, Sarutobi Hiruzen had a general idea of the special training’s results.
The training significantly improved the students. Students initially scoring fifteen points achieved twenty-four after the training. Kotetsu, a first-year student, now possessed the strength to contend with upperclassmen.
Ignoring the Ninja Technique that piqued his curiosity, Kotetsu’s performance far exceeded expectations for a first-year. Kanzou displayed similar strength.
“These students’ skills have greatly improved after this special training,” Sarutobi Hiruzen mused.
The score comparison clearly showed the improvement. While practical assessments had subjective elements, the Third Hokage preferred to witness it firsthand.
“Distraction Technique!”
Several scantily clad older women suddenly appeared on the battlefield, performing suggestive actions.
Kanzou seized his opponent’s moment of distraction and defeated them.
Sarutobi Hiruzen felt his nose tingle, surprised by the results in various senses.
“Teacher Miyuki, your students are quite creative,” Iketani Yu said, his face red with effort to find an appropriate compliment. He couldn’t afford to be unsupportive; he owed Miyuki many favors for substitute teaching.
Others could afford to hold back, but not him.
“Kotetsu and Kanzou are like that,” Miyuki smiled.
“It’s not just me and Kanzou,” Kotetsu quietly approached Miyuki.
“Teacher Miyuki, this technique was developed by Kanzou, me, and Ebisu-sensei. To be accurate, Ebisu-sensei led us in its development,” Kotetsu announced, raising his voice slightly. He couldn’t bear for Ebisu’s contribution to go unnoticed.
“Teacher Tanaka, isn’t Ebisu a student in your class? I remember his grades were quite good.”
“Yes, he’s in my fourth-year, sixth class,” Tanaka Gou replied with an awkward smile.
He hadn’t expected this bizarre Ninja Technique to be related to his star student. He remembered Ebisu as a serious person.
“Ebisu,” Sarutobi Hiruzen, having heard Kotetsu, also remembered the name.
His mission accomplished, Kotetsu quietly retreated, leaving without boasting.
“Kanzou, how was my performance?” Kanzou excitedly asked.
“Amazing! I saw the Third Hokage watching intently,” Kotetsu said, putting his arm around Kanzou’s neck.
“That’s fantastic! We’re on the path to fame and glory!” Kanzou cheered, pumping his fist.
“Not just us two, also Ebisu-sensei,” Kotetsu proudly recounted his actions.
“No words! Ebisu-sensei would definitely treat you to a feast if he knew!” Kanzou gave Kotetsu a thumbs-up.
Approaching the teachers required courage.
“Let’s tell Ebisu-sensei the good news after the test is over,” Kotetsu said enthusiastically.
Ebisu, waiting for his turn in Group A, felt a tickle in his nose, sneezed, and inexplicably felt a sense of foreboding.
“Seize this opportunity to perform well in front of the Hokage,” he dismissed the thought, striving to maintain composure.
…
After watching two more battles, other Middle-Ranked Ninja teachers realized the students’ improvement wasn’t a coincidence; it was widespread.
“How did they teach? Only five weeks have passed, yet they’ve improved so much! Did the students diligently cultivate without distractions?” teachers wondered.
Many Middle-Ranked Ninja teachers had heard of Miyuki’s teaching skills.
Most believed that even exceptional teaching wouldn’t be significantly impactful. Theoretical scores might improve, but practical skills largely depended on talent. No matter how good the teacher, they couldn’t change the difficulty of a Ninja Technique.
However, the progress before them was undeniable. Previously average or poor students had reached a good level during this month-long special training.
“Let’s see the other groups,” Sarutobi Hiruzen said after the fifth battle. Observing ten students gave him a sense of the group’s overall ability.
“This is Group B,” Miyuki led Sarutobi Hiruzen and the others toward Group B’s location.
Group B was testing near the river.
Upon arrival, they saw two students battling on the water’s surface.
“The students in Group B have mostly completed their Chakra control training. They have no problem climbing trees or walking on water. Their taijutsu and ninjutsu skills are also better than Group C,” Miyuki explained.
“They can all walk on water?” A Middle-Ranked Ninja teacher expressed doubt.
While tree climbing was a skill usually mastered by excellent fourth-year students, water walking was a technique not all Genin possessed. It intensely tested Chakra control.
He glanced around and noticed that Group B didn’t seem smaller than Group C. He doubted so many students could be this skilled.
He soon had to accept the reality, as Group B students were fighting on the water’s surface, not only able to walk on water but doing so skillfully.
“These students would absolutely qualify as Genin upon graduation,” a teacher commented.
If Group C was excellent, Group B seemed ready to graduate immediately.
“Yeah, the level of their Shadow Clone Technique would score full marks even by graduation standards,” another teacher agreed.
Some teachers spotted their own students and questioned their perceptions of them.
“This kid wasn’t this strong before! How did he get so much better?”
They wondered if they had underestimated their students or if the students were putting on a show.
Seeing Group B’s performance, the Third Hokage anticipated Group A’s level.
“This is Group A,” after watching several battles, Miyuki led Sarutobi Hiruzen and others to Group A.
