Chapter 15: The Underrated Obito

Training Field Sixteen, Miyuki was conducting the roll call before the exam.

Because the entire school was taking the exam at once, and the practical exam required space, the schoolyard clearly couldn’t accommodate so many people, so the exam was held directly at the training field.

After confirming that all the examinees had arrived, Miyuki and Kimura Sugito announced the start of the drawing of lots.

The rules of the practical exam were simple: first, students were called up according to the class roll to draw lots, and then the lottery number determined the opponent, number one fought number two, number three fought number four, and so on.

“I’m number one, Rin, what number are you?” Obito, after drawing his lot, immediately went to find Rin Nohara.

“I’m number ten, so you’re the first match, Obito,” Rin Nohara replied.

“It doesn’t matter which match, anyway, I’ll win,” Obito was very confident. He believed everyone would be shocked by his current strength.

After a month of training with Miyuki, Obito felt he made new progress every day. He had surpassed his former self from a month ago by a significant margin.

After asking Rin Nohara, Obito went to ask Might Guy’s number.

“Then we’ll probably only meet in the final,” Obito didn’t expect Might Guy’s number to be so opposite to his.

“I should be the one saying that, I’m an Uchiha after all,” Obito didn’t know if Might Guy was being deliberate or not, but it sounded awfully like a provocation.

“Where do you two get your confidence?” A classmate from the same class scoffed. How dare these two underachievers act so cocky?

“The first match is about to begin. Please have examinee number one, Uchiha Obito, and examinee number two, Uchiha Tetsuka, prepare for the exam,” Miyuki glanced at the time and announced the official start of the exam.

Obito didn’t argue with those who were mocking him; he quickly walked to the square area marked with white lines to prepare for the exam.

Uchiha Tetsuka also quickly entered the exam area and exchanged a glance with Obito.

Although both were Uchihas, of the same age and classmates, they had basically never spoken.

There was no melodramatic plot; it was purely that neither was interested in the other.

Uchiha Tetsuka thought Obito was a bit silly, his strength was lacking, he was always late, and he had never seen such an inept Uchiha.

Obito thought Uchiha Tetsuka was cold and unapproachable.

“Two Uchihas, this is interesting,” some onlookers were about to burst out laughing.

Both from the same clan, whoever loses will be embarrassed.

“And what about Uchiha Obito? His theory scores never passed, and his practical skills are just average. How could he possibly win against Uchiha Tetsuka?”

The onlookers thought about it; Uchiha Tetsuka was a model Uchiha ninja, excelling in both theory and practice. Except for that freak Kakashi who graduated in first grade, no one in his class was his opponent.

For Uchiha Obito, the Uchiha clan’s underachiever, to defeat an excellent Uchiha like Uchiha Tetsuka was indeed a tall order.

“Obito, be careful,” Rin Nohara said worriedly.

She felt Obito was incredibly unlucky.

Normally, given Obito’s skills, he wouldn’t be eliminated in the first round. But facing Uchiha Tetsuka, a perennial top performer, Rin only hoped Obito wouldn’t try too hard and get injured. Spiritually, she supported Obito’s victory, but in reality, there was a clear gap in their strength.

The two stood opposite each other, making a hand seal of opposition (a symbolic gesture indicating the start of a fight).

This was a necessary procedure in ninja school fights; it’s to tell the other person that you’re about to attack, and after finishing, you have to make a reconciliation hand seal (a gesture showing the fight is over and the friendship remains).

“Begin!” Miyuki announced the start of the fight, seeing that both were ready.

The moment Miyuki’s voice fell, Uchiha Tetsuka quickly took out three shuriken from his ninja tool pouch and threw them at Obito, targeting his head, body, and legs. Then, he rushed towards Obito at high speed.

Obito also casually took out three shuriken and swiftly threw them.

The six shuriken collided, producing a crisp metallic sound as they all fell to the ground.

“The Uchiha clan’s shuriken throwing is indeed outstanding. Even an Uchiha with relatively ordinary talent like Uchiha Obito has decent shuriken throwing skills,” Kimura Sugito commented.

Intercepting shuriken with shuriken requires excellent accuracy.

Because the field wasn’t large, Uchiha Tetsuka quickly approached Obito, delivering a right hook.

Obito was not afraid at all, he clenched his fist and met the blow, engaging in close combat with Uchiha Tetsuka.

Both sides exchanged blows, the dust flying wildly, the fight was fierce.

“Hey, this Uchiha Obito actually has some skills in taijutsu (martial arts)?” The onlookers were surprised.

The so-called underachiever of the Uchiha clan, Uchiha Obito, was actually trading blows with Uchiha Tetsuka.

Shouldn’t the normal outcome be Obito getting kicked and instantly defeated by Uchiha Tetsuka?
