Chapter 73: Holiday Training Begins (Seeking Follows, Seeking Monthly Tickets)

[Disciple Uchiha Shisui diligently cultivated and achieved perfect scores in the academic assessment, receiving rewards: Chakra +300, Ninja Technique Proficiency Scroll]

[Disciple Might Guy diligently cultivated and achieved excellent scores in the academic assessment, receiving rewards: Chakra +250]

[Disciple Uchiha Obito diligently cultivated and achieved good scores in the academic assessment, receiving rewards: Chakra +200]

After the end-of-term exam rewards were tallied, Hayase Mukugetsu’s total Chakra amount saw another small increase.

    [Name: Hayase Mukugetsu]

    [Chakra: 12050]

“It seems that only achieving first place in both theory and practice can get you a proficiency scroll reward,” Mukugetsu thought, looking at the system’s three reward messages.

Except for Shisui, who was already at the top of his class and couldn’t improve further, Might Guy and Obito’s rewards were slightly higher than last time.

Last time, Might Guy and Obito each only received one hundred and fifty Chakra; this time, Might Guy received one hundred more Chakra, and Obito received fifty more.

Might Guy and Obito had indeed made considerable progress, not only in practical combat but also in their theoretical scores, which had significantly improved, now scoring over fifty.

Although the Ninja Technique Proficiency Scroll was a good thing, Mukugetsu didn’t plan to have Might Guy and Obito spend too much time on theory to achieve perfect scores.

Their learning efficiency was simply too low.

Even with his frequent extra tutoring sessions, Might Guy and Obito only managed to score over fifty; even someone like Haruno Sakura could easily get a perfect score.

To get Might Guy and Obito to score perfectly, Mukugetsu felt he would have to stop all cultivation, teach them personally, and make them study and do exercises every day.

But that wasn’t worthwhile. It was better to continue with normal cultivation, become stronger sooner, and earn more rewards for himself.

“Hehe, Teacher Mukugetsu, about the promised reward…” After reprimanding the two troublesome students, Haruno Sakura walked to Mukugetsu somewhat sheepishly.

“You still want a reward after regressing?” Mukugetsu tapped Haruno Sakura’s head with two joined fingers.

“No way, I still got second place in the practical exam! Shisui is just too overpowered; I couldn’t beat him,” Haruno Sakura tried to get away with it.

“I’m talking about your theoretical score dropping, two points less than last time,” Mukugetsu stated the fact; he remembered everyone’s scores in the class clearly.

“Ah, it’s all Inojin Yamanaka and Chōji Akimichi’s fault!” Haruno Sakura wished she could turn around and punch those two troublemakers; they had colluded to convince her not to review.

“Here, eat it. No more next time if you regress again,” Mukugetsu eventually gave Haruno Sakura the dango she desperately needed.

He bought them on his way to school, enough for everyone in the class.

“Teacher Mukugetsu is the best!” Haruno Sakura took the dango and immediately began praising Mukugetsu’s greatness.

The atmosphere in Class 1-A was quite good. After receiving their scores and test papers, they didn’t leave immediately; they chatted in the classroom until noon.

At noon, Mukugetsu and other teachers went to the auditorium for a meeting.

Ninja school teachers also have meetings, though not frequently. This meeting was mainly to summarize the semester’s teaching work and announce the list of excellent teachers.

For Mukugetsu, this meeting was largely meaningless. He was different from ordinary ninja school teachers; he wasn’t interested in awards for excellent teachers or bonus money.

Unexpectedly, the Third Hokage appeared at the meeting.

According to Iketani Yu and Ueda Aya, the head of the teacher’s class usually presided over this meeting.

“Third Hokage-sama,” Mukugetsu greeted the Third Hokage respectfully.

The Third Hokage nodded with a smile at Mukugetsu.

As he wasn’t very busy recently, the Third Hokage glanced at Class 1-A’s results. He was shocked.

Their last scores were already unique within the ninja school, but Class 1-A’s exam scores were even better this time.

The average theoretical score reached an astonishing eighty-one points—considered excellent in other classes—meaning everyone in Class 1-A had excellent scores.

The average practical exam score was twenty-four points, another amazing achievement, as the average score for normal classes was around sixteen points.

The Third Hokage took a closer look and found that Class 1-A’s high scores were primarily in ninjutsu, with no student scoring below eight points; secondly, in genjutsu.

Mukugetsu had cultivated such an excellent class, and the principal himself hadn’t been to a school meeting in a long time, so the Third Hokage decided to attend.

Perhaps because the Third Hokage was present, the meeting proceeded quickly without any incidents.

“Now, we will announce this semester’s list of excellent teachers. Hayase Mukugetsu…”

    Mukugetsu’s name was listed first.

“Teacher Mukugetsu, as expected of you,” Ueda Aya whispered her congratulations.

Although Mukugetsu felt no inner excitement, he responded with a warm smile to his colleagues’ congratulations.

    “Iketani Yu.”

“I’m also an excellent teacher!” Iketani Yu showed a surprised expression.

Iketani Yu’s students had swept the top two places in the grade, so he had guessed he might receive the excellent teacher award, but he was still surprised when he actually got it.

This was an excellent teacher award; only four were given each semester, and he had taught for years without ever receiving one.

“Damn it, why didn’t my students suddenly have a breakthrough?” Kimura Sugito sighed enviously.

He wasn’t envious of Mukugetsu receiving the award; he thought it would be strange if Mukugetsu *didn’t* get it.

But what was Iketani Yu’s skill level? He knew it was entirely thanks to Might Guy and Obito.

“You still complained that Might Guy and Uchiha Obito were tail-enders. This excellent teacher award is all thanks to them,” Ueda Aya was also very envious.

When Iketani Yu took over Class 4-B, everyone was consoling him, but the end of the semester brought such a reversal.

“I was blind to their true talent,” Iketani Yu admitted he had underestimated Might Guy and Obito.

“I’ll treat you all to drinks when the bonus comes out. Teacher Mukugetsu, you absolutely have to come; you deserve a share of the credit for this excellent teacher award,” Iketani Yu said with a chuckle; Mukugetsu had substituted for him too many times.

“If I have time, I will,” Mukugetsu nodded with a smile.

“I want to specifically praise Teacher Hayase. The students in Class 1-A have achieved astonishing results under his guidance.” Sarutobi Hiruzen began to speak.

Sarutobi Hiruzen then read out Class 1-A’s various achievements and urged everyone to learn from excellent teachers like Mukugetsu to cultivate the next generation for Konoha.

After being praised by the Third Hokage, Mukugetsu could feel the eyes of all the teachers on him. Perhaps because of his good image, he didn’t encounter any malicious or envious glances; everyone was friendly.

“Mukugetsu, you’re doing great. Keep it up.” After the meeting, Sarutobi Hiruzen patted Mukugetsu on the shoulder in encouragement.

“Third Hokage-sama, I will do my best to teach my students,” Mukugetsu repeated the answer he had given in the principal’s office.

The Third Hokage laughed heartily; he seemed in a good mood.

The end of the meeting also meant that Mukugetsu and the other teachers had entered their holiday break.

Receiving the excellent teacher award and being praised by the Third Hokage didn’t affect Mukugetsu’s inner peace; however, Might Guy hadn’t triggered a cultivation task for two days, which made him somewhat suspicious.

Mukugetsu indirectly probed and discovered that Might Guy hadn’t yet fought Kakashi, which put him at ease.

Kakashi might have gone on a mission; Might Guy hadn’t been able to find him these past two days.

Now that the holiday had officially begun, Mukugetsu informed his disciples of his holiday training plan.
