Chapter 94: The Battle of the Hidden Dragons and Young Phoenixes

“Number one, Steel Kotetsu, versus number two, Kaguya Izumo.” Muyue announced the names of the first match participants.

Kaguya Izumo and Kotetsu, upon hearing that they were facing each other in the first round, couldn’t help but sigh at the cruelty of fate, lamenting that their fraternal duel was happening so early.

“Kotetsu, I thought today would be the day we both made a name for ourselves. It seems heaven envies talent,” Kaguya Izumo sighed.

He hadn’t expected such bad luck for him and Kotetsu; to meet in the very first round.

“Indeed,” Kotetsu nodded, a look of grief on his face.

Had they not been matched against each other, with their perfected Confusion Technique, they might have reached the finals, creating a legendary story.

“Izumo, the improved Confusion Technique is incredibly powerful. Since we’re brothers, perhaps we should refrain from using it,” Kotetsu suggested.

Kaguya Izumo pondered for a moment before smiling and nodding, “That sounds good.”

“Stop acting like ancient scholars! Get into the fighting arena and start the battle already! Don’t waste time!” Beniyuki said exasperatedly.

Ignoring Beniyuki’s lack of appreciation for their ritualistic exchange, the two walked towards the fighting area, taking their stances.

“Begin!” Muyue shouted as she saw them ready.

Upon Muyue’s command, both charged at each other, engaging in close-quarters combat.

However, with their similar skill levels and shared training under the same teacher, the fight became a deadlock.

Kotetsu threw a right punch; Kaguya Izumo countered with a right punch. Kotetsu used an elbow strike; Kaguya Izumo responded with an elbow strike. After two minutes of mutual blows, neither had gained an advantage.

“It’s about time,” Kotetsu thought to himself.

“Though we’re brothers, the ninja world is cruel. I will carry on your will, Izumo, and continue to win,” Kotetsu said, feeling a pang of guilt as he prepared to use the Confusion Technique.

“Kotetsu, I’m sorry, but I’m a ninja.” Kaguya Izumo smiled, rapidly forming hand seals; he was about to use the Confusion Technique!

It was a joke. Why wouldn’t he use the hard-earned Ninja Technique? Agreeing with Kotetsu was just to lull him into a false sense of security.

“Konoha foul language!” Kotetsu instantly retracted his guilt; this kid was even more unscrupulous than him!

With Kaguya Izumo’s hand seals completed, four more attractive female figures, vaguely resembling Kaguya Izumo, instantly appeared on the field.

Even though he had used this technique many times, Kotetsu subconsciously slowed his hand seal formation, his gaze involuntarily drifting towards a series of magnificent mountains.

Not only Kotetsu, but many of the students watching were also captivated by the immense visual effect, their eyes drawn to the imposing mountain scenery.

Muyue was stunned for a second. She thought, “Isn’t this Naruto’s Sexy Technique? Why is it here so early? This butterfly effect is a bit… off.” (Referencing the Butterfly Effect, a concept suggesting small changes can have large consequences.)

Taking advantage of Kotetsu’s distraction, Kaguya Izumo delivered a swift flying kick, knocking him down.

The attack jolted Kotetsu back to reality. He thought, “This technique is truly terrifying; even someone with my strong will fell for it.”

The now-alert Kotetsu quickly put distance between them, forming hand seals while running to unleash his own Ninja Technique.

With Kotetsu’s technique activated, four more different but equally alluring female figures materialized.

Gazing at the sudden appearance of these figures, Kaguya Izumo’s pursuit slowed, giving Kotetsu the chance to counterattack.

“These idiots, how can this kind of clone technique be effective? They look so weak,” Beniyuki thought, feeling that Kotetsu and Kaguya Izumo were just randomly modifying techniques.

The fight on the field was intense, and the spectators were thoroughly entertained. Ultimately, Kaguya Izumo narrowly won the first battle.

“Izumo, that’s not your power; it’s Ebisu-sensei’s power!” Kotetsu felt that his defeat wasn’t due to lack of skill, but a lack of nerve; he let his guilt get the better of him and didn’t strike first!

“This technique was improved, and Ebisu-sensei deserves the most credit, but a win is a win. I will carry on your will, Kotetsu, and continue to win,” Kaguya Izumo said proudly.

The students in the audience started discussing the match.

“Ebisu? Isn’t that the senior who was the only one to advance to A-class last week? He actually spearheaded the development of this technique?” some students exclaimed in disbelief.

In the last strength test, Ebisu had been the sole student to advance to Class A, making him quite famous within Group C.

“That’s him. I know him; he’s in my class, we’re both in Year Four, Class Six,” said one of Ebisu’s classmates, confirming the fact.

“To be fair, this technique might be quite useful. Is he a genius?” someone seriously analyzed.

Regardless, Ebisu had become a celebrity in Group C.

Unfortunately for Kaguya Izumo, his moment of triumph was short-lived; his second-round opponent was Mizuki Yūgao.

Mizuki Yūgao completely ignored Kaguya Izumo’s clones, focusing solely on attacking him; Kaguya Izumo was no match and was quickly defeated.

“Damn it, I almost forgot about the female students!” Kaguya Izumo realized a flaw in his Confusion Technique.

“Izumo, this is the consequence of betraying your brother!” Kotetsu loudly mocked him.

Group A was also conducting their practical tests.

“Number one, Uchiha Shisui versus number two, Yūhi Kurenai.”

“It’s him for the first match…,” Yūhi Kurenai paused slightly upon hearing her name.

She had only known Shisui for about ten days, but he had already made a strong impression; he had effortlessly defeated his senior team members and topped the strength test as a first-year student.

“Kurenai, just do your best,” Asma comforted her.

“Watch out for his speed; he’s incredibly fast,” Inoichi Yamanaka reminded her.

The reason for his defeat was underestimating Shisui’s speed.

Yūhi Kurenai nodded, calming herself as she walked toward the fighting ground, her eyes filled with determination.

    “Begin!”

As she truly fought Shisui, Yūhi Kurenai understood why Inoichi had lost.

Her taijutsu and ninjutsu were comprehensively suppressed; she had virtually no chance to fight back and was struggling just to defend.

Yūhi Kurenai was ultimately overwhelmed by Shisui’s attacks and quickly lost.

“Uchiha Shisui wins,” Muyue announced the result.

After using appraisal jutsu, he had rated Yūhi Kurenai’s potential as ‘B’. Her talent lay in genjutsu, but genjutsu in the Hidden Leaf was unfortunately somewhat lacking; besides the Mangekyo Sharingan, there weren’t many powerful genjutsu users.

“It’s alright, didn’t Inoichi lose to him too? That guy is simply too talented,” Asma comforted her.

Inoichi, caught in the crossfire, glared at Asma resentfully; that was a rather insensitive way to comfort someone.

“Number seventeen, Uchiha Obito versus number eighteen, Might Guy.”
