Chapter 96: The Final Result (25)
As Mukugetsu expected, there was nothing wrong with Obito’s body; he simply had exhausted too much Chakra, and the repeated use of Shunshin (Body Flicker Technique) in a short period had left him physically fatigued.
After all, Obito had just used Great Fireball Technique and Great Dragon Fire Technique, along with several incomplete uses of Shunshin and the Shadow Clone Technique.
Among them, the Shadow Clone Technique consumed the least Chakra, but its role was crucial.
After being treated, Obito quickly regained consciousness. Seeing Mukugetsu sitting beside him, he couldn’t help but share the highlights of his recent battle.
“When I was first hit by Might Guy, I knew that if the fight continued normally, I would lose. So, even if it meant I couldn’t use Shunshin again, I had to create distance and use Ninja Techniques.”
“To conserve Chakra, the Great Fireball Technique, while looking impressive, actually had minimal power. I only used it to distract Might Guy and obscure my vision.”
When talking about how he used the Shadow Clone Technique to deceive Might Guy, Obito’s eyebrows danced with excitement. He seemed exceptionally thrilled.
“I know Might Guy has strong observational skills during battle, so I endured the pain and controlled my clone to appear exhausted to mislead him.”
Obito felt he could boast about today’s battle for a whole year; there were too many details. The differences in his clones didn’t appear from the start; he only made them appear fatigued after running for a while, making it more natural.
“Your performance today was indeed excellent. If you could remain this calm in future battles, it would be great,” Mukugetsu praised.
He never stinted on his praise when his students performed well. If he constantly denied their achievements for fear of making them arrogant and complacent, it would ultimately lead to a lack of self-confidence in them.
Mukugetsu felt that if Obito were to be graded now, he wouldn’t be merely “贤二” (a term indicating someone of average ability), but probably a “贤三” or “贤四” (implying a higher level of ability – these are likely made-up ranks within the context of the novel).
“Hehe, it’s all thanks to your teaching, Mukugetsu-sensei,” Obito chuckled, revealing a satisfied smile.
Why did he talk so much? Was it to show off? Of course not. What was there to boast about, winning against his peers? He was simply demonstrating his improvement and seeking Mukugetsu’s acknowledgment.
If Obito had to say the only flaw in that battle, it was the absence of two people: Rin Nohara and Kakashi.
If Rin Nohara were there, she would definitely praise his battle intelligence, and Kakashi, that arrogant fellow, wouldn’t dare to underestimate him again.
After confirming that everything was alright, Obito suggested to Mukugetsu that they return to the training ground to watch the battle.
Mukugetsu pondered for a moment. Knowing Obito wouldn’t want to give up the exam, and since Obito wasn’t injured, Mukugetsu took Obito back.
When Mukugetsu’s main body returned to the training ground, the first round of battles had already concluded, with half the students eliminated. The second round had just begun a short while ago, and there was still some time before Obito’s battle round.
In the second round, Shisui’s opponent was a graduating Genin this year. He resolved the fight swiftly and cleanly, a result that surprised no one.
Currently, students in Class A generally believed that only Might Guy, Uchiha Obito, and Sarutobi Asma had a chance of winning.
Byakugan Raido should have also been on the list, but having already lost decisively, everyone felt he wouldn’t win even if he fought again.
Obito’s second-round opponent was a fourth-year student. Even though Obito wasn’t at his peak condition, he still successfully defeated his opponent.
The third round was similar, but it’s worth mentioning that Asma and his teammate, Byakugan Raido, faced each other.
When Byakugan Raido’s opponent was Asma, everyone realized they might have underestimated Byakugan Raido’s strength, and also Shisui’s strength.
The crowd carefully recalled that Shisui’s time to defeat his opponents, whether fourth-year students or graduating Genin, was roughly the same.
Was Shisui’s strength fluctuating wildly? They felt this was unlikely.
The only possibility was that Shisui had a gentler personality and didn’t want others to lose too badly, so he adjusted his strength according to his opponents’ abilities.
Byakugan Raido’s speed was very fast, although not as fast as Might Guy using Shunshin. Among Class A students, he was among the very strong ones. His close-quarters combat with kunai caused Asma quite a bit of trouble.
However, Asma had been taking a beating these past two days. He didn’t lose his composure due to Byakugan Raido’s fierce attacks and quickly found an opportunity to counterattack and win.
As the sun began to set in the west, the battles on the training ground were nearing their end. The final match for the top four was between Obito and Asma.
Both had gone through arduous battles, with Obito even fainting from exhaustion, though he had recovered most of his strength by now.
Against Guy, Obito could only keep his distance and avoid his sharp attacks. But against Asma, Obito directly charged forward and engaged in close-quarters combat.
After so much training, Obito’s taijutsu (martial arts) was no longer a complete weakness. While it wasn’t comparable to Shisui’s or Might Guy’s, it was still sufficient against other peers.
Obito’s sudden charge completely threw Asma off guard. Having seen Obito mostly avoid close-quarters combat against Might Guy, he assumed Obito’s taijutsu was still the same as before.
When the fight began, Asma was stunned. Obito directly used Shunshin and Leaf Whirlwind Kick, leaving Asma dazed.
Asma might have still had a chance to fight back, but a tactical error cost him the opportunity to win, and he was quickly defeated by Obito.
The error-free version can be read on 6X9 book bar! 6X9 book bar first release of a novel.
“The final battle: Uchiha Shisui versus Uchiha Obito,” Mukugetsu announced the names of the finalists.
“They are both from the Uchiha clan! A prestigious clan indeed,” Ebisu exclaimed.
Despite being the same age, his strength was far behind those of the clan ninjas. He was eliminated in the first round.
“What a pity. I actually had a chance to win, but I didn’t expect Obito’s taijutsu to improve so much,” Asma felt a little regretful.
“As seniors, we are truly inadequate. We must train harder in the future!” Yamanaka Inoichi said.
When Obito stepped onto the battlefield facing Shisui, he felt somewhat ambivalent.
He had fought Might Guy many times, but almost never fought Shisui.
During his early training with Mukugetsu, Obito was often discouraged by Shisui’s training progress. What took Obito a week to master, Shisui could accomplish in an afternoon. And Shisui was from the same clan and younger than him.
Now, Obito didn’t mind so much anymore. While Shisui was strong, Obito wasn’t bad either.
However, Obito genuinely felt he had no chance of winning against Shisui today; he was not in the best condition.
Knowing he would lose, Obito still fought with all his might. Although the result was as he expected, Obito wasn’t disappointed because he had done his best.
Moreover, he had defeated Might Guy today, so Obito was in a very good mood. As soon as the match ended, he went to find Rin Nohara to brag about his triumphant comeback.
