Chapter 111: Arrival at Scattered Immortals’ Garden (13109)

    “Ah!”

Gu Xi, leaning on the coffin lid, suddenly felt a sharp pain in his head and cried out.

    “Full speed ahead!”

After regaining his senses, Gu Xi pounded heavily on the coffin lid, urging the Demon Coffin to increase its speed.

Gu Xi already knew what had happened.

His Death Avatar had died in battle.

When initially charging into the wedding procession, Gu Xi had noticed that the groom wasn’t particularly strong. If he hadn’t been in such a hurry, he could have stayed and waited for the Death Avatar to kill the groom before leaving.

But barely after he’d started his charge, the Death Avatar was already dead.

He wouldn’t believe it if there wasn’t outside interference involved.

Gu Xi had just leveled up; his Death Avatar was now level 12, placing it at the pinnacle of power in this world. Coupled with the Death Avatar’s inherent abilities, only exceptionally powerful units or soldiers could possibly have pushed it to its death.

The Death Avatar’s death served as a stark warning to Gu Xi: the enemy was incredibly strong.

Understanding this, Gu Xi didn’t bother looking back; he simply urged the Demon Coffin to accelerate.

The Demon Coffin was already moving at its maximum speed, but it couldn’t refuse Gu Xi’s demands. So, it started taking shortcuts, using unconventional routes.

For example, what to do when encountering a snow crevice on an icy surface? Normally, one would circumvent it, but now, the Demon Coffin disregarded that and jumped right over it.

Or, for instance, a small mountain—normally the Demon Coffin would go around, but now it charged straight up, experiencing the thrill of flight.

Using this method of prioritizing straight lines whenever possible, Gu Xi quickly crossed the snowy plain and spotted the distant Scattered Immortals’ Garden.

Although he hadn’t yet arrived, the changing landscape confirmed he was on the right track.

Before him lay a forest nestled in the middle of the snowfield, its trees transformed into purple crystalline structures.

Once inside the forest, the wind and snow from outside were blocked, and the temperature noticeably increased.

Within the forest, Gu Xi saw many wildlife similarly affected: deer with purple crystalline antlers, purple rabbits, and beetles resembling ice sculptures. There were also purple crystalline flowers and grass with purple dew. Entering this forest felt like stepping into another world.

“Don’t linger in the forest; you can’t withstand its effects. Come quickly.”

As Gu Xi observed the forest, a voice echoed from the depths.

Gu Xi was startled, realizing it was a hero from the Morning Sunlight Guild stationed here.

He immediately pounded on the coffin lid, heading towards the source of the voice.

After circumventing some crystallized trees, Gu Xi’s eyes widened. A city hidden within the forest appeared before him.

The city was designed in the style of an ancient Eastern imperial mausoleum.

At the heart of the forest stood a massive, forty-meter-tall earthen mound. All the city’s buildings were built around this mound.

Only in the immediate vicinity of the mound remained unaffected by the purple crystallization, retaining their original colors.

Seeing this, Gu Xi understood that the purple crystallization in the forest was caused by some power suppressed below, its energy seeping out.

Prolonged activity here would inevitably lead to being affected by this power, transforming into the crystallized monsters outside.

Only within the mound’s immediate area was relative safety, where the influence of the seeping energy was shielded.

However, the city’s size seemed limited.

The mound’s protection only extended one kilometer beyond its base. While the mound itself was large, creating a sizable safe zone, the usable land within the city was relatively small.

Most buildings were concentrated in the east and south. Various architectural styles were clustered together.

Gu Xi entered from the west, where, beyond a few insignificant buildings, lay vast fields of a peculiar wheat.

This wheat resembled a Venus flytrap; before maturity, it emitted a special aroma to attract insects. Insects attracted to the wheat would be trapped by its sticky secretion, becoming nutrients for the plant.

This wheat impressed Gu Xi. The creator of this wheat was undoubtedly a powerful cultivator. Not only did they solve the issue of fertilizer, but they also eliminated pests. As long as there was water, this wheat could be grown in large quantities without worrying about environmental conditions.

This prospect excited Gu Xi. He considered obtaining some seeds to plant in Alierdo City.

Just then, the voice sounded again.

“Don’t dawdle there; come to the south side of the mound.”

Gu Xi remembered his mission and immediately pounded on the coffin lid, guiding the Demon Coffin toward the south side of the earthen mound.

As they moved, Gu Xi examined the mound.

While ancient tombs might contain different things, their surface structures often shared similarities: as tall and pointed as possible, with variations only in materials and external decorations.

This mound resembled an earthen pyramid, maintaining the style of an Eastern mausoleum, barren of any vegetation. The soil was tightly compacted, resistant to even the strongest winds and rain.

This led Gu Xi to speculate about the identity of the tomb’s occupant. To build such a massive mound, the occupant must have been at least of royal or noble rank.

    “Comrade, this way.”

Before Gu Xi could finish his assessment, the Demon Coffin reached the south side of the mound.

This was the main area of the Scattered Immortals’ Garden. Upon arrival, he saw a woman in a blue gauze dress waving at him.

She carried a longsword as tall as herself and wore silver thread gloves.

“Are you from the transport team? I’m Shu Daiyi, a level 5 Death Knight, a formal member of the Fiery Day Knights under the Morning Sunlight Guild. I ask again, are you a player from the transport team?”
