Chapter 46: Different Mirrors (Seeking Reads)

“I found this in the ruins of a castle. At the time…”

Suo Luo was about to explain the origin of the mirror shard to Gu Xi, but Gu Xi had already picked it up.

[Dead Magic Mirror (Green): This was once an all-powerful, all-knowing magic mirror, but it deceived its owner, bringing disaster upon them. Before her death, the owner destroyed this deceitful mirror.]

Seeing the information pop up, Gu Xi was even more surprised.

He initially picked up the mirror because he was drawn to the deathly aura emanating from it.

Gu Xi had seen dead cities, but never a dead mirror, so he was curious.

He never imagined that such a story lay behind it.

“Wait, tell me again where you got this mirror from?”

Gu Xi interrupted Suo Luo’s boasting, mirror in hand.

Suo Luo, far from being angry, quickly replied: “In the castle ruins behind that forest over there, the one with lots of wild boars. They say the forest has so many boars that they can’t even mine the iron ore there.”

As he spoke, Suo Luo pointed in a direction.

However, the area he indicated was quite large, and Gu Xi couldn’t see anything in the direction Suo Luo pointed.

“Alright, I’ll take this mirror shard.”

“Great! I’ll give you a deal. Thirty-five pounds, or an equivalent value in gold or other goods.”

    That expensive?

Gu Xi frowned, once again feeling poor.

But he flipped his hand, revealing a strange rat skin and asked, “How about this?”

Suo Luo, who had found so many special mirrors, naturally had a keen sense for strange auras.

The moment Gu Xi produced the strange rat skin, Suo Luo knew it was no less valuable than the mirrors in his coat.

“Okay, but that’s not enough. You know, these little skins aren’t easy to sell, I…”

Suo Luo haggled, quickly calculating in his mind that if he could get a few more of these strange rat skins, he could upgrade his coat to better contain the power of the strange mirrors.

But, being a merchant, though he wanted them, he still made further demands.

Gu Xi, having spent a long time in the flea market, was well aware of the prices.

He knew that items with obvious strange auras commanded high prices from ordinary people.

“Two skins at most. Take it or leave it.”

Hearing Gu Xi’s tone, Suo Luo immediately agreed.

    “Alright, two skins.”

He seemed afraid that Gu Xi would refuse the deal.

Gu Xi was speechless. He couldn’t exactly tell the young man which items were expensive and which were cheap.

He could only assume that the flea market’s level was low and its clientele even lower.

Gu Xi thus avoided the embarrassment of not having enough money. After handing over two strange rat skins, he put away the [Dead Magic Mirror].

Then he asked, “Anything else in the box?”

    “Yes.”

Seeing another opportunity for business, Suo Luo quickly opened the bottom of the box.

The next layer also contained a mirror, but unlike the [Dead Magic Mirror], this one was brimming with a strange aura.

This aura was far stronger than those in Suo Luo’s coat, but Gu Xi could tell at a glance that it was essentially no different from the junk in the coat.

[Praying Ghostly Mirror (White): A ghostly believer prayed nightly at twelve o’clock before this mirror, causing it to mutate after attracting ghostly energy. This mirror can summon a ghostly creature of level 5 or below (Note: The summoned creature is not under the summoner’s control).]

This was only average, inferior to the [Dead Magic Mirror]. Gu Xi glanced at it, then looked up at Suo Luo and said, “One skin. Take it or leave it.”

    “Deal!”

Suo Luo, seeing a big customer, quickly handed over the [Praying Ghostly Mirror] and promptly opened the third layer.

After opening the third layer, Suo Luo sighed, “That’s the last one. I don’t have any other better quality mirrors.”

Gu Xi looked down and found a gold-rimmed vanity mirror with a strange aura.

[Ghostly Rule Mirror (White): A mirror that can have three true or false rules written on it, forming a ghostly field to kill intruders. Each kill allows for one rule modification, up to three people (0/3)]

Looking at the information on the vanity mirror, Gu Xi suddenly remembered the mirror wrapped in his luggage on the steam-powered bus.

This Rule Mirror was similar to the one Gu Xi had smashed, only smaller and with fewer rules.

It could only hold three rules, and Gu Xi believed these rules couldn’t directly kill.

There must be other conditions involved.

    “This one’s interesting. One skin.”

“No way! Add more for this one! It’s really difficult to get this. I found the other two myself, but I got this one from a cultist. It was extremely dangerous.”

“Alright, I’ll add another skin, but you need to find me ten pounds in cash.”

Gu Xi hesitated, then made his demand.

Suo Luo initially wanted to refuse, but the strange rat skins were too important to him. He gritted his teeth, “Fine, I’ll take a big loss this time. It’s a deal.”

After handing over the strange rat skins, Gu Xi didn’t take the lead box, putting the three mirrors directly into his backpack.

Suo Luo rummaged through his pockets, gathering ten pounds in coins and handing them to Gu Xi.

    “Thanks!”

After receiving the money, Gu Xi felt more confident and continued browsing the flea market.

But this time, Gu Xi didn’t encounter another merchant like Suo Luo.

After walking around for a while without finding anything good, Gu Xi decided to return to the city.

But looking at the time, he found a small tavern nearby and sat down.

    “Do you have any recommendations?”

“Yes, our most famous dish is pigeon pie!”
