Chapter 61: The Owl’s Nest Building – Intelligence Boost (Seeking more readers!)
After eating and drinking his fill at the tavern, Gu Xi stumbled out.
Exiting the tavern, Gu Xi noticed the tavern keeper only escorted him to the door before stopping, clearly indicating she wasn’t going any further.
An idea struck Gu Xi. “Tavern keeper, does this tavern have a quest posting or acceptance function?”
“Yes, sometimes I need things and it’s inconvenient for me to go find them myself, so I’ll post quests for others to help. Don’t forget to visit my little tavern from time to time, you never know what surprises you might find!”
As she spoke, the tavern keeper covered her mouth with a bony finger.
Gu Xi quickly averted his gaze. Even as an Undead Mage, he wasn’t entirely used to facing this type of skeleton.
If outsiders knew Gu Xi found a skeleton alluring, they’d think he was insane.
Seeing Gu Xi hurry off, the tavern keeper chuckled softly. Only after he was gone did she turn to her three subordinates in the tavern.
“Is my skin not painted well yet? Going out without a skin is like going out naked; it just doesn’t feel right.”
Unaware of what happened behind him, Gu Xi was now nearing the Owl’s Nest Building, led by Luna.
“I’ve arranged for the library to be built. Because resources are plentiful, it should be completed tomorrow. However, all the medium-sized plots in the city center are now occupied. If we want to build anything new, we’ll have no suitable plots.”
“I know. After the library is finished, we’ll focus on small and auxiliary buildings. As for the medium-sized plots, we’ll deal with that once we secure the pier district.”
Pausing, Gu Xi said, “The tavern keeper seems rather peculiar. Do you know anything about her background?”
“Not really. The management personnel within Special Buildings are generated alongside the buildings themselves. But as long as the building is on our territory, they are trustworthy.”
With Luna’s reassurance, Gu Xi said no more.
They had arrived at the Owl’s Nest Building, and Luna began her introduction.
It was originally a three-story apartment building, but after the recent renovations, its appearance had changed drastically.
It clashed terribly with the surrounding style, looking more like something pieced together from the previous ruins.
The three-story building was now five stories tall, its walls replaced with windows of varying sizes, with tree branches sprouting from some of them.
It was undeniably bizarre in the context of the entire street.
[Building Name: Owl’s Nest Building
Level: 1 (Upgradable)
Characteristics:
The building provides 50 units of meat per week (including but not limited to owl meat, rat meat, snake meat, etc.).
The building can simultaneously release five owls for delivering messages, guaranteeing delivery to the intended recipients.
The first person to enter the building’s hall gains +1 Intelligence.]
Gu Xi wasn’t overly concerned about the message-delivering owls, as he had no one to contact at the moment. The weekly meat supply, however, was quite useful.
Although Alierdo City was a city of the dead, Gu Xi still visited occasionally, and food determined how long he could stay.
With a guaranteed food supply and a tavern to cook it, Gu Xi had nothing to complain about.
Nodding with satisfaction, Gu Xi opened the Owl’s Nest Building’s door and entered the first-floor hall.
Upon entering, Gu Xi found the interior vastly different from the exterior.
The hall wasn’t chaotic but possessed a serene atmosphere.
In the center of the hall was a pool of shimmering light, surrounded by numerous blinking eyes.
“Luna, how much of that strange rat meat from our last battle do we have left?”
“Four or five portions, I think.” Luna hesitated; she hadn’t really paid attention to such details.
“I’ll stay here for a while. Go get all the remaining strange rat meat.”
“Okay.”
Luna floated away, and Gu Xi stepped forward to the pool’s edge.
He felt as if he were standing in a star-filled sky, the stars being the blinking eyes in the darkness.
Each eye radiated wisdom, yet each was distinct.
The sensation was incredibly soothing. He used this opportunity to review his previously learned knowledge, including things he’d studied in school but hadn’t used in the game.
He also contemplated previously overlooked details, realizing he’d made some questionable choices. If he hadn’t been lucky, his bones might have already been dealt with.
At that thought, Gu Xi sighed.
Then, his eyes lit up, and a *ding* sounded in his ears.
[Meditating in the Owl’s Nest Building, Intelligence +1, Undead Knowledge +1, Magic Knowledge +1, Basic Science +1.]

Seeing his improved attributes and skills, Gu Xi smiled joyfully.
The Owl’s Nest Building hadn’t been built in vain; this was a great harvest.
At that moment, Luna returned, carrying several pieces of strange rat meat.
Gu Xi took the meat and tossed it into the luminous pool.
As the meat landed in the water, a *ding* echoed in his ears.
[You have placed suitable food (rats, snakes, squirrels, etc.) in the Owl’s Nest Building, attracting the attention of some owls.]
Besides this message, Gu Xi could see a visible percentage appear on the surface of the pool.
“27%. Luna, from now on, bring any rats or similar creatures you find in the city here. I want to see what happens when the pool is fully satisfied.”
