The Wizard: Grinding Experience Starting with Knight Breathing Techniques 10
by adminChapter 10: Legendary Figure [White Horse Knight] (Request for Follow-up Reads)
“Dear Baron Levi Schneck, Flower Moon is approaching, and the Silver Frost Flowers of Silvermoon Territory are about to bloom. I sincerely invite you to attend this year’s noble ball hosted by me…”
The letter was from Baron Fox of the neighboring Silvermoon Territory.
“Should we go?”
Sir Fred asked.
“No.”
Levi decisively refused.
“Then I’ll have someone write a letter of refusal.”
Sir Fred turned and left.
“I’m still too weak. If I attend the ball alone and someone targets me, I’ll likely be unable to escape; but if I bring Sir Fred, who will guard the territory?”
This world didn’t have high-speed rail, and the roads were inconvenient, making the round trip at least one or two days.
Levi wasn’t interested in the noble ball itself.
It was nothing more than a boring social event for the nobles of this world to show off their superiority.
When he was a child, his father had taken him to a noble ball hosted by the Duke of Black Mountain, and he had witnessed the hypocrisy of these nobles.
“I’d rather improve my skills.”
Having said that, Levi continued his training.
Staying in the territory was safe and comfortable.
…
Time flew, and Flower Moon (May) arrived.
Beyond several mountain ranges, about two hundred miles south of Black Water Valley, lay Silvermoon Territory.
Baron Fox was the master of this territory.
This day was the day Baron Fox hosted his noble ball.
Within Silvermoon Territory, on a hillside covered in blooming Silver Frost Flowers.
Noble boys and girls, dressed in vibrant clothes, admired the flowers, drank wine, ate roasted meat, danced noble dances, and gossiped about meaningless things.
“I heard that the eldest daughter of the Duke of Black Mountain is engaged to Edward, the White Horse Knight of the Royal Family.”
“Goodness, that’s wonderful! Edward, the White Horse Knight! A Great Knight at only twenty-five years old, hailed as the most promising candidate to become a legendary knight in this era of the Royal Family.”
“While the White Horse Knight isn’t a legendary knight yet, he’s already a legendary figure of the Royal Family. He showed his prowess in the Millennium Holy War, single-handedly slaying two Storm Great Knights of the Storm Church. He’s the dream lover and prince charming of all noble girls in the Emerald Kingdom. Hee hee, last night I even dreamt I was riding his unicorn…”
“Speaking of which, Black Water Valley, north of my father’s territory, also produced a genius who was no less than the White Horse Knight. Many believed he could become legendary, but he died in the Millennium Holy War.”
“You mean the Black Snake Knight? He was too rigid. Until his death, he couldn’t forget his deceased wife, and he didn’t marry more women to leave more descendants for the Schneck family. He only left Levi, that wastrel.”
“Yeah, now Levi of the Black Snake family is a wimp, handing over his father’s legacy. Such a person can’t amount to anything. And he didn’t even come to my father’s ball, showing no respect. Hmph!” said one of Baron Fox’s daughters angrily.
These noble children chatted and laughed, and some of the intoxicated youngsters, both male and female, made their way to the small woods behind the hillside for more intimate interactions.
Although the Church imposed constraints, these nobles always found ways to turn normal social balls into chaotic gatherings.
Meanwhile, in the council hall of Silvermoon Castle, three noble knights in armor were drinking and chatting.
The leader was a middle-aged noble with a long face and a slender figure. He was Baron Fox, the master of Silvermoon Territory, but people usually called him the “Silver Fox Knight.” The other two were Baron Bill, the “Rock Bear Knight” of Rockfort Territory, and Baron Wolf, the “Frost Wolf Knight” of Frostwind Territory.
These three barons were Levi’s neighbors and were all official Knights.
“Thank you both for gracing my ball with your presence.”
Baron Fox said with a smile, his demeanor elegant.
“Old fox, just spit it out. Everyone knows the Silver Fox family has always been full of tricks. We Rock Bear people don’t like beating around the bush.”
The tall, broad-shouldered Rock Bear Knight said bluntly. Years of practicing the Rock Bear Breathing Method made his physique far exceed that of ordinary people; he stood at two and a half meters tall, like a small giant, his muscular frame containing the strength of a bear.
“Big guy, you haven’t changed a bit. You don’t give the Silver Fox Knight any face.” The Frost Wolf Knight laughed, looking around before saying, “Speaking of which, why didn’t anyone from the Black Snake family come?”
The Silver Fox Knight coughed and said, “The little black snake refused my invitation. I bet it was the Serpent Eagle Knight’s idea. But it doesn’t matter; the Black Snake family, without Soth, is practically extinct. A Serpent Eagle Knight nearing the end of his prime won’t last long.”
“I gathered you all here to discuss the future plans of our three great families. To that end, I’ve also invited a heavyweight guest.”
After speaking, the Silver Fox Knight clapped his hands.
The council hall doors slowly opened, and a knight clad in plate armor with a meteor hammer at his waist lumbered in; his face was hidden beneath his helmet.
“Who is this?”
The Rock Bear Knight and the Frost Wolf Knight’s expressions changed as they looked at the Silver Fox Knight.
“Don’t worry, gentlemen. This is the Wild Boar Knight of the Wilderness Brothers Association. He’s not here to fight, but to discuss something.”
The Silver Fox Knight smiled.
“So you’re the Wild Boar Knight. I hear you practice the Mountain Boar Breathing Method and are immensely strong. Some even say you’re stronger than our Rock Bear family, heh.” The Rock Bear Knight sneered, clearly unconvinced. Few superior breathing methods could surpass their family’s Giant Bear Breathing Method in terms of sheer strength.
The Wild Boar Knight glanced at the Rock Bear Knight without speaking.
“Silver Fox Knight, you actually invited someone from the Wilderness Brothers Association! If the Kingdom and the Church find out, you know the consequences.”
The Frost Wolf Knight’s face turned pale.
“Only the few of us know about this. As long as you don’t speak, the Church will never know,” the Silver Fox Knight said with a meaningful smile.
Hearing this, the Rock Bear Knight and the Frost Wolf Knight’s faces turned ashen.
The Wild Boar Knight stood blocking the castle council hall’s entrance.
The Silver Fox Knight said apologetically, “I’m sorry, gentlemen. I did this for the Silver Fox family.”
“You… you don’t think you can keep us two here?” The Frost Wolf Knight drew his sword, and the Rock Bear Knight swung his hundred-jin heavy hammer.
The Wild Boar Knight, who had been silent, pulled out an antique black snuff bottle and began chanting strange, incantation-like syllables.
“Lamp spirit, lamp spirit, appear quickly.”
