The Wizard: Grinding Experience Starting with Knight Breathing Techniques 105
by adminHoly Radiance Era 1010, the month of flowing fire.
This year’s summer in Icewind City seemed cooler than usual.
Though the weather was pleasant, Li Wei knew this wasn’t a good sign.
This cooling climate was most likely due to the demonic tide.
Perhaps one day in the distant future, the entire Northland would be plunged into the same severe cold as the Far North!
And those troublesome Snow Wraiths—the thought made Li Wei even more anxious.
He had to become a wizard sooner, enter the Realm of the Unbelievers, and get away from these dangers.
During this period, Silver Mountain Earl’s army conducted high-intensity patrols in Icewind City every day.
Whether the Wilderness Brothers Association’s army would come or not, they were ready to meet the enemy.
And the Silver Mountain Earl’s vassal territories continuously sent troops and supplies to Icewind City.
Li Wei rented a house and quietly cultivated.
Because the Sea Demon, Giant Rhino, and Human-Faced Spider Breathing Techniques were temporarily at their limits, and he lacked the necessary elixirs for the Giant and Vortex Worm techniques, Li Wei spent most of his time on the Black Snake and Black Whale Breathing Techniques, and of course, the Golden Cross Slash.
He still visited the Shining Tavern regularly, hoping to find what he needed, only to be repeatedly disappointed.
One day, Li Wei returned from the Shining Tavern and was heading home.
Suddenly, the sound of assembly horns came from the direction of the city walls.
Li Wei’s heart stirred.
“It seems the Wilderness Brothers Association’s army has arrived.”
He put on his white wolf mask, altered his physique slightly, and with top-tier movement techniques, headed towards the city walls.
On the city walls, squads of soldiers assembled, their faces grim as they watched the approaching army on the wilderness. The army was densely packed; a rough estimate put their numbers at nearly ten thousand.
Silver Mountain Earl personally led the troops, his red cloak complementing his Leviathan Armor, looking majestic and imposing. He held a long spear, his gaze deep as he watched the approaching army.
Only two thousand soldiers garrisoned Icewind City—Silver Mountain Earl’s entire army. They were elite, professional soldiers, well-trained. In addition, on the city’s main roads, there was a two-hundred-strong squad of Highland Warhorse Heavy Cavalry, the Silver Mountain Earl’s trump card, the “Silver Charge Squadron.” These heavy cavalrymen all wielded lances and were accompanied by cavalry attendants. After the battle began, they would charge with an unstoppable force, breaking the enemy’s formation, allowing the elite infantry to reap the enemy’s lives.
Outside the city, the Wilderness Brothers Association’s army looked rather shabby. At the front of the army was a shield formation, providing cover for the soldiers behind, protecting them from arrow attacks. Behind the shield wall was a seemingly flimsy collection of miscellaneous militia.
However, at the very back of the army, were four heavily armored beasts. These beasts had horns, stood over four meters tall, weighed over ten tons, and were the “Icefield Rhinos,” unique to the Northland highlands. All four Icefield Rhinos wore custom-made heavy armor. Combined with their naturally thick hides, they were the Wilderness Brothers Association’s trump card, a weapon for attacking the city!
Clearly, Silver Mountain Earl hadn’t expected the Wilderness Brothers Association to obtain such rare war beasts.
Although Icefield Rhinos were generally docile and rarely harmed people, that didn’t mean they weren’t dangerous. Their sheer size alone was enough to crush most Knights below the Great Knight rank. If it weren’t for their lower defense and attack compared to Earth Dragon Beasts, their fame might rival the Earth Dragon Beasts.
Now, with these Icefield Rhinos clad in armor, their defensive weakness was mitigated, and trouble was brewing.
The four beasts shook the ground as they moved, a terrifying sight.
The city’s soldiers couldn’t help but feel a little panicked.
Sensing the soldiers’ apprehension, Silver Mountain Earl frowned slightly, then shouted, “Everyone, don’t panic! I will personally kill these four beasts!”
Silver Mountain Earl’s words boosted the soldiers’ morale, improving the situation slightly.
Li Wei had already slipped outside the city. He hid in the wilderness, feeling the vibrations of the earth.
“Good heavens, the Wilderness Brothers Association is making quite a show of force.”
He waited quietly for the battle to erupt. Once it did, he could take advantage of the chaos to capture some people, inquire about the whereabouts of the Boar Knight, and then go after the Boar Knight for revenge, and rescue old Toby, giving hardworking Milan an explanation.
The Wilderness Brothers Association’s commander-in-chief was a peak Knight. Wielding a meteor hammer, he coldly watched Silver Mountain Earl, seemingly not intimidated by the Great Knight.
Soon, a fierce battle broke out.
On the wilderness, catapults launched massive stones with a thunderous roar.
On the city walls, the arrows of the defending soldiers rained down like a storm.
The four Icefield Rhinos, like tanks, charged towards the city gate and walls, enduring countless arrows.
Silver Mountain Earl leaped from the city walls, like a silver war god, charging towards the four beasts.
As long as he dealt with the four beasts first, his heavy cavalry could easily break and divide the enemy’s formations, making the rest easier.
Taking advantage of the chaos of the battle between the two armies, Li Wei also acted. The white wolf mask appeared on the dusty battlefield, and he easily abducted a man before vanishing.
“Speak, where is the Boar Knight?” Li Wei coldly asked the bewildered Wilderness Brothers Association soldier.
“Ah? I don’t know.”
*Crack*. Li Wei gently twisted the soldier’s head three hundred and sixty degrees.
Li Wei found a new target, this one seemed to be a captain, possessing the strength of a Quasi-Knight.
Of course, in front of Li Wei, he was as helpless as a chick, completely defenseless.
“Speak, where is the Boar Knight?” Li Wei asked.
“Who are you? Let me go! Do you want to die?” the captain struggled.
Only after Li Wei crushed his shoulder blade did he quiet down.
“I’ll ask you one more time, where is the Boar Knight? My patience is limited, don’t disappoint me,” Li Wei asked coldly.
“I’ll tell you, I’ll tell you… Don’t kill me. The Boar Knight… he seems to have been sent on a mission by our vice-president. I don’t know where he went. I’m just a small captain, and the Boar Knight is the head of the equipment department. I really don’t know his whereabouts…” the captain hurriedly said.
“Where is your vice-president? What is his strength?” Li Wei asked.
“Our vice-president is on the battlefield. He’s a Great Knight.”
“Good, you can die now.”
Li Wei killed the captain and then hid in the wilderness again.
“Good heavens, when did the Wilderness Brothers Association become so strong? Their vice-president is a Great Knight?” Li Wei was puzzled.
“It’s so hard to get revenge on the Boar Knight.” Li Wei was speechless.
“Never mind, let’s wait and see. Let’s see what the vice-president’s strength is. Since he came to the battlefield, why haven’t I seen him?” Li Wei secretly observed the battlefield situation.
At the same time, his sharp eyes noticed that the Silver Mountain Knight, who was fighting the four Icefield Rhinos, hadn’t noticed a bald figure, riding an armored warhorse, clad in armor, wielding a giant axe, advancing barbarically in a corner of the battlefield. Silver Mountain soldiers in his path were thrown away, some cleaved in two by the giant axe.
“Die!”
The bald man ambushed Silver Mountain Earl!
An axe blow landed on Silver Mountain Earl’s back.
Although Silver Mountain Earl had dodged beforehand, he still took the hit.
The axe, swirling with black energy, didn’t cleave the Leviathan Armor.
But the tremendous impact sent Silver Mountain Earl flying, causing him to cough up blood. Seeing this, the other commanders immediately opened the city gates, and hundreds of heavy cavalry charged with a deafening roar, their lances poised.
Even the bald man had to temporarily dodge.
Silver Mountain Earl’s face was grim. He took advantage of this opportunity to stand up, spear in hand, staring at the triumphant bald man.
“Who are you? I didn’t expect there to be a Great Knight I don’t know in the Northland.” Silver Mountain Earl felt a tightness in his chest, coughing once before asking.
“Heh, it’s normal for a Great Knight as noble as Silver Mountain Earl to not know an insignificant person like me. But from now on, all of you great nobles will know my name.”
“Remember, I am the grave digger of your nobles! The warrior, Atos!”
The bald man dismounted, leaped over the crowd, and with an earth-shattering stance, launched a wide-ranging axe attack towards Silver Mountain Earl.
“Mere vermin! Die!” Silver Mountain Earl was unafraid, charging forward with his spear!
Spear and axe clashed. No one dared to approach the area where these two Great Knights clashed; anyone close enough to be grazed would die.
The task of dealing with the Icefield Rhinos ultimately fell to the “Silver Charge Squadron” and several other high-ranking and peak Knights guarding the city. They were Silver Mountain Earl’s right-hand men, and their strength was extremely formidable.
Li Wei watched from the sidelines. He didn’t want Icewind City to be breached. If the defenders couldn’t hold out, he wouldn’t mind lending a hand to kill those beasts.
However, the situation wasn’t too bad yet. It was clear that even though the bald vice-president had launched a surprise attack, injuring Silver Mountain Earl, he was still no match for him. After several exchanges, the bald man was on the defensive.
“This must be the difference in Breathing Techniques. Actually, the bald man’s fighting skills are no less than Silver Mountain Earl’s, but Silver Mountain Earl’s Breathing Technique is of perfect quality, while the bald man’s is only excellent quality. The difference is evident,” Li Wei commented.
After observing the fight between the two.
Li Wei was confident. Even without using the Frost Giant’s Sigh.
With his current top-tier defense, speed, and strength, plus the Golden Cross Slash, he should be able to fight the bald man evenly.
With his mastery of seals and poison techniques, his win rate should be over seventy percent.
If he used the Frost Giant’s Sigh, his win rate would be ninety-nine percent.
The reason he didn’t say one hundred percent was because Li Wei was cautious, worried about unforeseen circumstances!
Even so, Li Wei wouldn’t underestimate his opponent. He would go all out, using a saturated attack!
Li Wei continued to observe the battlefield. He didn’t want the bald man to die here; he needed to interrogate him to find out the Boar Knight’s whereabouts.
Sure enough, after a while, the bald man found that he couldn’t defeat Silver Mountain Earl. The Breathing Technique disadvantage was one thing; his armor was also inferior to Silver Mountain Earl’s Leviathan Armor. In a few moves, Silver Mountain Earl’s mithril spear pierced his armor, stabbing him in the abdomen, causing blood to flow.
This made Silver Mountain Earl appreciate even more how invincible the armor forged by Master Terra was!
Atos, the Wilderness Brothers Association’s vice-president, simply chose to retreat, using the Icefield Rhinos to continue the assault, holding Silver Mountain Earl back.
He disappeared into the army.
He thought that after advancing to Great Knight, he should be almost on par with Silver Mountain Earl, but he underestimated Silver Mountain Earl’s strength, especially his armor, which was far superior to his own, clearly a master craftsman’s work!
This made Atos angry. If it were ordinary armor, his initial axe blow might have severely injured the other man!
He wasn’t the main commander of this battle; he was only here to carry out a decapitation strike. Now that the decapitation had failed, he could only retreat and make other plans.
Li Wei blended into the army, hiding in the shadows. He needed to get close to the bald man to use the Frost Giant’s Sigh.
Soon, the vice-president left the battle zone with a small group of men.
“Damn it, that Silver Mountain Knight must have been hiding his strength.”
Atos rode his horse, extremely dissatisfied.
At that moment, his keen perception as a Great Knight detected a powerful presence rapidly approaching.
At the same time, the sound of arrows piercing the air came.
He turned to look, and his men were already down.
A figure wearing a white wolf mask charged towards him with an exaggerated speed.
A cross-shaped sword light attacked. Atos blocked with his giant axe, swirling with violent black energy!
“Are you from Silver Mountain? Die!” he roared, unleashing his full power!
Metal clashed. Li Wei’s figure grew larger amidst crackling sounds, white vapor filling the forest.
Beneath the white wolf mask, Li Wei smiled.
A cold wind howled. Behind him, a majestic illusion of a Frost Giant rose with a sigh, looking down at Atos with the eyes of one observing an ant, and snapped its fingers.
Woke up this morning with a 38.6°C fever. Took the day off from work, took some fever medicine, and will sleep all day.
