“See that giant statue, dozens of meters tall?” the Wild Dog Knight pointed towards the square in front of the royal city.

    “That’s the Ice Goddess statue!”

Li Wei looked. A tall, slender, ice-blue female statue stood expressionlessly in front of the royal city, greeting travelers from all directions.

Although it was just a statue, Li Wei felt a certain divine aura emanating from it, reminding him of the deity portraits in the Holy Radiance Cathedral or the Storm Cathedral. Whether it was the merciful Heavenly Father, the majestic Storm Emperor, or the cold and solemn Ice Goddess.

Perhaps, these gods trapped in the star realm were truly watching the mortal world through these things.

“Still need to keep a low profile. I need to find the Land of the Faithless as soon as possible. This world isn’t worth it.” Li Wei sighed and followed the Wild Dog Knight into the city.

Compared to the Holy City of Landis, the Ice Snow Royal City was somewhat desolate. Occasionally, some wandering Knights would enter and exit. These wandering Knights were bounty hunters or mercenaries, recruited by the Eternal Night Kingdom to fight against the Snow Wraiths.

Li Wei and the Wild Dog Knight entered as bounty hunters. Along the streets, doors were tightly shut, and many shops were closed.

As they entered, a fully armed cavalry unit rode in from the city gates. They looked exhausted and scarred, their weapons gleaming with a silvery light – the shine of mithril. The leader, a mid-level Knight, looked listless and apathetic.

“This should be the army the Eternal Night Kingdom has formed to hunt Snow Wraiths. Looks like they lost a battle,” the Wild Dog Knight observed, watching the retreating soldiers.

“Ordinary Snow Wraiths might not be strong, but their immortality and numbers can wipe out even elite troops. Sir, are you sure you want to join the monster hunting team?” He asked, sounding apprehensive. He was shocked when he learned that Bai Lang had come to the Eternal Night Kingdom to hunt Snow Wraiths. Wasn’t this like knowingly walking into a tiger’s den?

Snow Wraiths were tireless, immortal unless their Frost Hearts were removed. Even a Great Knight might be overwhelmed and killed if surrounded by a horde of Snow Wraiths. Not to mention the powerful Snow Wraiths among them. In recent years, Snow Wraiths comparable to, or even stronger than, Great Knights had been spotted. Encountering such a Snow Wraith would be a hopeless situation.

“I know what I’m doing. After you get me into the hunting team, you can wait for me in the Ice Snow Royal City. Once I’m done, take me to the Ice Pillar Islands.” Li Wei said. He was aware of the dangers, but his extraordinary endurance, defenses, and various trump cards ensured his self-preservation. For others, this place was a hell filled with undead; for him, it was a paradise for cultivating the Hell’s Imprint. This time, he intended to cultivate the Hell’s Imprint to its limit, accumulating enough Wraith Cores before leaving.

“Alright, be careful, sir. I’ll wait for you in Ice Snow Royal City. I’ll keep an eye out for Frost Hearts being sold, but from what I’ve heard, the royal family and the church have bought most of them up. Don’t get your hopes up too high,” the Wild Dog Knight said sheepishly. After all, he only needed to guide Bai Lang and would earn 100 gold coins. Staying in Ice Snow Royal City wasn’t dangerous. He figured Bai Lang was here to collect Frost Hearts. He didn’t know what use they had, but it was Bai Lang’s secret.

“Do your best. We’ll meet at the Shining Tavern in Ice Snow Royal City. Don’t wander off. I don’t want to return from hunting Snow Wraiths to find you’ve gone to meet the Heavenly Father.”

“Don’t worry, this isn’t our first collaboration. You’ve seen my character; I’m absolutely reliable,” the Wild Dog Knight boasted.

Li Wei nodded and parted ways with the Wild Dog Knight. During their journey, Li Wei had learned enough of the Eternal Night Kingdom’s common language for daily communication. The Eternal Night Kingdom’s language was far easier to learn than Tuva, similar to the relationship between Japanese and Chinese. Except for needing the Wild Dog Knight to guide him to the Ice Pillar Islands, Li Wei wouldn’t need a translator constantly. He wouldn’t force the Wild Dog Knight to follow him; it would only hinder him during the Snow Wraith hunt, as the Wild Dog Knight was only a low-level Knight, too weak.

After separating from the Wild Dog Knight, Li Wei went to the Shining Tavern in the city and posted some commission requests. The requests were still the same: things like vortex worm eggs and breathing techniques. He might be staying in the Eternal Night Kingdom for a while, so he might as well try his luck here. His trip to the Holy City had been quite lucky. Hopefully, Lady Luck would continue to favor him.

Leaving the Shining Tavern, Li Wei’s expression was pleasant. He had acquired a rudimentary bloodline breathing technique: the Silver貂 Breathing Technique. He bought it for fifty gold coins, a reasonable price. This speed-type bloodline breathing technique had twenty-four small person patterns, and the central image was a beautiful and magnificent silver giant貂 (a type of weasel). This seemed to be a legendary beast from the Far North, rumored to be able to traverse the void with incredible speed.

“Not bad. It can be cultivated to the fifth-level limit, and it gives 2 breakthrough points. I can start cultivating this soon.” Li Wei’s Sea Demon Breathing Technique needed 2 more breakthrough points to continue leveling up. This Silver貂 Breathing Technique was a godsend.

“Indeed, the goddess of fortune still favors me.”

“Let’s aim to cultivate it to its limit within two months.” Li Wei was in a good mood. For him now, cultivating rudimentary breathing techniques was as easy as drinking water. Reaching the fifth-level limit in two months was a piece of cake. He didn’t have many breathing techniques to cultivate lately, so he might even finish it within a month.

Leaving the Shining Tavern happily, Li Wei rented a secluded place in the royal city as his residence. He wouldn’t leave until he pushed the Hell’s Imprint to its limit. Then, he went to the kingdom’s military headquarters and signed up for the next day’s monster hunting operation.

The kingdom wouldn’t pay wandering Knights who actively participated in monster hunting operations, and they had to provide their own weapons and armor. However, to encourage more wandering Knights to join the monster hunting teams, the royal city would provide a negligible subsidy based on the number of Snow Wraiths killed. The standard for judging the number of Snow Wraiths killed was the “Frost Heart”—the Wraith Cores Li Wei needed. One Frost Heart would earn 5 gold coins in subsidy, which Li Wei wouldn’t care about, but for impoverished, homeless wandering Knights, the price was quite tempting.

Using this method, the Eternal Night Kingdom had gathered many wandering Knights from other regions over the years. With the help of these outsiders, the Eternal Night Kingdom could barely resist the increasingly severe Snow Wraith disaster.
