Chapter 0021 Excellent Quality, [Giant Breathing Method] (Request for Follows)

Li Wei didn’t pay much attention, assuming it was just the occasional remains of hunters who had ventured into the mountains and become the wolf king’s prey.

He arrived at the cave. It wasn’t deep, but contained many remains, mostly ordinary people, even quite a few children’s. The damned beast had eaten many people; no wonder people disappeared from his territory every few years.

The three brothers were currently all gathered around one skeleton, curiously examining it.

Li Wei approached the skeleton and found it unusually tall, over three meters in height. Most importantly, unlike the others, this skeleton was intact. The others were fragmented—skulls and ribs scattered everywhere, clearly the leftovers of the wolf pack.

This skeleton, however, was perfectly preserved, leaning against the cave wall, its hands in a posture of holding a sword in mid-air, sitting there majestically, imposing and awe-inspiring like a king.

It had remained in this position for an unknown length of time.

“This person was so tall! The skeleton alone is three meters; how tall was he alive?”

Li Wei was astonished, but then thought it was normal. In this world, with the existence of Breathing Methods—these heaven-defying methods of changing one’s fate—many people were abnormally tall. Li Wei himself, only fourteen years old, was already six feet tall. When he was fully grown, he wouldn’t reach seven feet, but six and a half was definitely possible.

Therefore, this was most likely a knight who died here for some reason, a natural death, not killed by a wolf pack.

Furthermore, the wolf pack seemed to fear the skeleton. While the other bones were shattered, this skeleton was intact, showing only the marks of time.

Li Wei also noticed an ancient iron ring on the skeleton’s right little finger, bearing the characters of the Emerald Kingdom: “Melone.”

Li Wei remained vigilant, wary of the skeleton becoming some kind of malevolent spirit to harm him, while also secretly hoping to find something valuable on it, such as a treasure map.

Unfortunately, he was disappointed. After searching for a long time, he found nothing except the ring inscribed with “Melone.”

Sir Fredrick entered. He took a preliminary look at the skeleton.

“This should be the skeleton of a knight. Judging by the imposing aura it still exudes even in death, it’s highly likely a powerful Great Knight.”

“I suspect someone came here a long time ago and took his armor and knight’s sword,” Sir Fredrick said.

“Speaking of which, are Great Knight skeletons valuable?” Li Wei blurted out.

He was so poor; he wanted to see if anything could be monetized.

Sir Fredrick looked helpless. “You can’t sell this. Who knows what powerful forces or dangerous stories are tied to this skeleton?”

Li Wei knew, of course; he’d just asked casually.

“But speaking of which, I seem to recall the Black Snake Knight mentioning a Melone family in the history of the Emerald Kingdom. They were called the Giant Family, their family crest was a [Frost Giant], and they practiced a high-quality Giant Breathing Method. However, eight hundred years ago, they were annihilated by the Holy Radiance Knight Order of the Church for the crime of blasphemy. Could this Great Knight be from the Melone family?” Sir Fredrick suddenly said.

“Highly likely. A Great Knight, with a ring inscribed with ‘Melone’… it should be right. Eight hundred years ago, this wasn’t our family’s territory. Our family only became the lords of Black Water Valley two hundred years ago,” Li Wei realized.

“Perhaps he escaped from the Holy Radiance Knight Order’s holy sword and hid in these deep mountains, never daring to show his face until his death,” Sir Fredrick speculated.

“Then I have to see if he left any treasures,” Li Wei said, beginning to search carefully around.

After confirming that the skeleton was likely that of a Melone family Great Knight but nothing more special, Li Wei lost interest and prepared to leave, intending to look up historical records later.

However, Little Fat seemed to have discovered something, sniffing incessantly.

He found a spot and excitedly began digging around the skeleton. Influenced by him, Little White and Little Grey, the other two brothers, although unsure what was going on, also started digging.

Li Wei became curious and stopped. Sir Fredrick, seeing this, smiled and shook his head, going off to stand guard.

Soon, the three brothers dug a large pit around the skeleton. Compared to the Northern Giant Bear, Li Wei felt that his three brothers were more like marmots.

    “Clunk.”

The sound of claws scraping against something hard.

Li Wei’s gaze was instantly drawn.

In the pit lay a meter-square iron chest.

Little Fat looked at the chest, satisfied, as if expecting praise from Li Wei.

    “Interesting.”

Li Wei hadn’t expected this is how the Northern Giant Bear was used.

He patted the three brothers’ heads, rewarding them with dried meat, and called in a few soldiers. To prevent the chest from being a trap or having some mechanism, he kept a distance with Sir Fredrick and the three brothers, ordering the soldiers to pry it open.

    “What’s inside?” Li Wei asked.

“Sir, it seems to be a suit of armor… Wow, sir, there seem to be some gold coins under the armor! We’re rich! We’re rich!” the soldier shouted excitedly.

Li Wei was also delighted. Indeed, this place was likely the last refuge of this Melone family Great Knight. He had escaped here with his family’s treasure, eventually dying here from severe injuries or some other cause.

Just as he was about to check how much money there was, he heard a soldier scream, “Aaaaaah! Damn it! The armor came alive! It’s attacking me! It hurts!”

Several soldiers, heads in their hands, fled in panic.

Behind them, an apparently empty suit of armor now held a soldier’s knight’s sword in its iron gauntlet, using standard and highly skilled knightly swordsmanship to beat the soldiers soundly.

“I’ll take care of this.” Sir Fredrick, without thinking about how the armor came alive, immediately drew his sword and engaged the armor in combat.

Man versus armor, back and forth, a fierce battle ensued.

Li Wei subconsciously thought of malevolent spirits; after all, he had encountered them before. Besides malevolent spirits, he couldn’t think of any other explanation for the armor coming alive.

Then, he saw a Frost Giant etched on the armor’s chest, a colossal figure exhaling frosty air, along with the word: “Melone.”

His heart stirred. Taking advantage of the battle between Sir Fredrick and the knightly armor, he rushed into the cave, to the Great Knight’s skeleton, and looked at the ring engraved with the exact same “Melone” on the little finger of its right hand.

A bold idea struck him. He pulled the ring from the skeleton’s finger. On the inside of the ring, he saw a line of very small text:

“Custom Magic Armor – Frost Giant – Crafted by Witch Gulwig.”
