Chapter 0005 The Dawn Knight and the Boar Knight (Request for Follows)

    Levi Snike————

Black Snake Breathing Method: Rank 2 (1/5000)

    Shield Technique: Rank 1 (Maxed)

    …………

Perhaps because Levi had such a strong foundation, coupled with the daily tutoring from a senior official Knight, reaching Rank 2 in the Black Snake Breathing Method was easier than he expected.

As for the shield skill, he maxed it out casually. Its difficulty was far less than that of basic archery or swordsmanship. For someone who had maxed out basic archery with 10,000 experience points, these were nothing.

Starting today, Levi entered the second stage of his knighthood apprenticeship: Sword-Wielding Apprentice!

He was one step closer to his small goal of becoming a full-fledged Knight.

The next step was Rank 3 of the breathing method, becoming a Knight-in-Training.

With a hefty requirement of 5,000 proficiency points, Levi estimated it would take at least half a year to break through to Knight-in-Training.

After grinding the breathing method for so long, he needed to rest his mind and body. Cultivation requires balance; otherwise, constant high-intensity tension could lead to going awry in one’s cultivation.

Now that he was a Sword-Wielding Apprentice, he had a basic level of strength. Levi’s physical condition was probably double that of a normal man. Barehanded, he could easily take on five adult men using sheer brute strength.

This was already exaggerated. Remember, Levi was only thirteen years old – still a child!

According to Sir Fred’s own account, as a senior official Knight, his physical condition was only five times that of a normal person.

This showed that the Black Snake Breathing Method was indeed extraordinary.

However, Levi lacked combat experience and advanced fighting techniques.

Another important skill for a Sword-Wielding Apprentice was swordsmanship or combat techniques with other weapons.

Knights rarely fought with fists and feet, although their fists could easily kill a man. However, as the saying goes, “an inch longer, an inch stronger.” Using fists and feet with weapons available is foolish. Furthermore, flesh and blood are no match for steel.

To learn swordsmanship, he had to ask Sir Fred. Even a genius like his father had to admit that Sir Fred was superior in swordsmanship talent.

This was evident from one of Sir Fred’s other titles from his early travels throughout the kingdom: The Dawn Knight!

    What a cool title!

Learning swordsmanship wasn’t urgent; today was New Year’s. Levi planned to give himself a day off and enjoy the pleasures of being a noble.

    ……

At the banquet, Levi sat in the lord’s seat, with Sir Fred beside him.

Apart from them, no other nobles were present; only people from his territory.

It was the dead of winter, with heavy snow blocking the roads. Black Water Valley was remote. Although there were three baronial territories nearby—磐石領 (Panshi Territory), 霜風領 (Shuangfeng Territory), and 銀月領 (YinYue Territory)—they were quite far, resulting in little interaction throughout the year, especially during winter.

Only in summer would there be some trade exchanges between the territories.

In short, the barons who could survive in this area were all struggling. Therefore, Levi’s father’s rise was legendary. He started from the barren north, achieved great military feats in the kingdom’s wars, becoming known to neighboring nobles as the Black Snake Knight, and eventually became the lord of two prosperous lands.

However, Levi didn’t like dealing with other lords; it was best if everyone stayed out of trouble, coexisted peacefully, and achieved a win-win situation.

At the outermost edge of the banquet were the shy and timid serfs. They enjoyed the same food as the lord on this day, but they dared not eat freely, fearing they might anger the lord.

Within the territory, Levi was their king, with absolute power over them.

At the same time, everyone was surprised that their lord, so young, was so strong and imposing, not at all like a thirteen-year-old boy.

After a few rounds of drinks, Levi ate at his leisure, enjoying the attentive service of the maids. The maids, massaging Levi’s incredibly thick masculine physique, blushed uncontrollably.

These maids were young peasant girls, quick and efficient workers. They were lively in their private conversations, but very reserved when serving Levi.

Suddenly, a short, stout boy came before Levi, kneeling down with a thud and placing a long, rectangular cloth bundle in front of him. Levi recognized the boy – Toby, the old blacksmith’s son. Levi called him “Little Toby,” though his real name seemed to be Milan.

“Little Blacksmith Milan, what is it?” Levi asked.

Milan opened the cloth bundle, revealing a knight’s sword gleaming coldly.

“My Lord, this is the best sword I forged last year. I wish to present it to you,” he said, head bowed.

“Oh?” Levi took the sword. The sword’s blade had few impurities. In terms of material selection, forging, and sharpening, it was of medium quality in this low-productivity world, worth a gold coin or two.

“It’s indeed a good sword,” Levi praised generously, readily accepting it. The people in his territory were his vassals; their land and possessions were his, so he could accept it with a clear conscience. After all, he had to protect their safety in these chaotic and dark times.

“By the way, how is your father doing?” Levi asked with concern. This wasn’t an act. Old Toby was the most important blacksmith in the territory. The militia’s weapons and equipment, and the tools the serfs used for farming, were all forged by Old Toby’s family—valuable assets to the territory.

Little Blacksmith Milan suddenly lowered his head, kneeling and sobbing, “My Lord, yesterday, my father and I were hauling ore on the mountain when we encountered the Wild Boar Gang. I ran fast and escaped, but my father was captured. I have no choice but to seek your help.”

Upon hearing this, Levi’s face turned cold. “The Wild Boar Gang? My worst fears have come true. I know about your father. I will handle it. Go home and wait for my news.”

This little incident ruined Levi’s good mood for the day.

After the banquet, Sir Fred came to see Levi, his eyes filled with killing intent. “The Wild Boar Gang’s kidnapping of Old Toby was clearly premeditated. After all, they’ve been growing stronger lately, needing a large amount of weapons. Old Toby, such a skilled blacksmith, naturally became their target. The leader of the Wild Boar Gang is the Boar Knight, Pig. This man was formerly a blacksmith, and a fellow apprentice of Old Toby. Later, he somehow obtained a breathing method and luckily broke through to become an official Knight. However, he shouldn’t be my match. Shall I take a squad out tomorrow and bring Old Toby back?”
