Chapter 0006 [Shock], [Ripple], [Spin] Power (Seeking Follows)

Li Wei shook his head. “No rush for now. With the heavy snow blocking the roads, we don’t know if this is a trap set by the Wild Boar Gang. Old Toby is a valuable talent the Wild Boar Knight values, but he’s not loyal. To save his life, he’ll certainly obey the Wild Boar Knight and do his bidding. So, for now, his life should be safe. First, send someone to comfort young Toby. During this time, send someone to investigate the Wild Boar Gang, then we’ll make our plans.”

“Heh, after my father passed away, all sorts of riffraff want to step on our Black Snake family. It’s quite a headache.”

“Lord Fred, you may retire to rest. Tomorrow, teach me true swordsmanship; I’ll also test the fine sword crafted by the young blacksmith, Milan.”

Li Wei supported his forehead. Under the dim candlelight, his pupils emitted a captivating majesty. This wasn’t the authority of a noble lord, but something transcending the mundane, a pressure seemingly from a legendary creature of a distant, mythical age.

Knight Fred, looking at Li Wei’s eyes, felt a strange sensation like being targeted by a terrifying beast.

He gazed at the oil painting behind Li Wei. The picture depicted a black snake encircling the entire castle, its mouth holding a lit candle; mysterious, solemn, and with a fierce gaze.

“It seems the young master’s talent is quite good. That aura, his breathing technique must have made a breakthrough,” Fred muttered to himself, somewhat shocked. In Li Wei’s eyes, he saw some of the style of the Black Snake Knight of old.

He remembered that the Black Snake Baron, after initially mastering his breathing technique, took three months to become a sword-bearing attendant, then a year to reach near-Knight level, two years to become a Knight, and eight years to become a Great Knight.

The young master had only been practicing his breathing technique for two months. It took him half a month just to initially grasp it. This talent isn’t exceptionally brilliant, yet his cultivation progressed faster and faster, seemingly surpassing expectations.

Fred couldn’t understand. He could only attribute it to the young master’s diligent efforts. He had witnessed Li Wei’s hard work over the past two months and sincerely admired it. Even among commoners, such dedication was rare, let alone among nobles.

“Young master, knight training requires balance; don’t put too much pressure on yourself,” he said before slowly retreating, disappearing into the shadows.

Li Wei touched his long sword, gazing at the proficiency panel in his mind, sighing inwardly.

“I just want to cultivate in obscurity, be a self-sufficient little lord, and live a peaceful life. But without strength, all this is a mere fantasy.”

The second day of the new year, 4 AM, the long night, the sky not yet bright.

Within Black Water Valley territory, residents and soldiers alike were lost in slumber.

On the training ground, Li Wei donned his heavy armor, his hand gripping “Frost’s Sorrow,” the name he gave his new knight’s sword, a memento of a world he could never return to.

Knight Fred drew his long sword, “Dawn,” and then said, “The sword technique I’ll teach you today is one I obtained by chance while traveling the kingdom in my early years. It has no name, so I call it [Golden Cross Slash].”

“The Golden Cross Slash essentially utilizes an extremely profound and subtle power technique to unleash a cross-slashing force beyond your imagination. It’s not limited to swords; even a heavy hammer, a knife, a spear, or even a pitchfork—if your understanding is high enough, you can adapt and use it.”

“The Golden Cross Slash has three stages: Shock Cross Slash, Ripple Cross Slash, and Spin Cross Slash. Each subsequent stage is harder to master.”

“It utilizes three power techniques: the simplest is the Shock force, then the advanced Ripple force, and finally, the highest level Spin force!”

“I’ve cultivated this sword technique for over twenty years and have only completely mastered the Ripple force. But its power is comparable to the best exquisite-level sword techniques. Therefore, the quality of this technique entirely depends on the user’s comprehension. If you have average talent, you can only master the Shock Cross Slash, making it a relatively good, rudimentary technique. But if you have exceptional talent and master the ultimate Spin Cross Slash, it will become a perfect, perhaps even legendary-level technique.”

After Knight Fred finished speaking, Li Wei couldn’t help but wryly smile. “Even you have only mastered the Ripple stage. Besides the creator, is it really possible for anyone to cultivate to the ultimate Spin stage?”

Knight Fred smiled slightly. “Young master, don’t be discouraged. Mastering the Ripple Cross Slash in the second stage is enough. Your father only mastered the Ripple force, yet his strength was among the top tier among Great Knights.”

Li Wei nodded. He wouldn’t be discouraged; with the proficiency panel, he could eventually grind this sword technique to the highest level.

Then, Knight Fred held Dawn. He emanated a powerful aura, his entire body vibrating almost like a illusion, then this shock force was transmitted to the knight’s sword.

    *Buzz!*

    *Buzz!*

    *Buzz!*

    The sword itself hummed!

The light of Dawn split into two, forming a violently vibrating cross-slash!

    *Crack!*

The bowl-thick Black Dragon wood post in front of Knight Fred, as hard as rock, was split into four.

Then he sheathed his sword, a seamless movement.

Li Wei was shocked. Although the Black Dragon wood wasn’t as hard as steel, it was impossible for an ordinary person to cleave it with a knight’s sword using this world’s forging technology.

However, Knight Fred, using a special shock force transmitted to the knight’s sword, could do it.

This is the power of a Knight, the power of swordsmanship!

    Too strong!

Li Wei felt a longing. This is what I strive for.

A slight hint of pride appeared on Knight Fred’s old face; he had only used 30% of his strength.

If he went all out and used the Ripple force with his knight’s sword, he could even cut through knight’s plate armor!

However, that would damage the knight’s sword too much, a wasteful act. The Shock force was enough to handle most enemies.

“This is the power technique. You probably didn’t understand; let me demonstrate again.”

Knight Fred knew that even swordsmanship geniuses would find it difficult to initially grasp the Golden Cross Slash’s power technique on their first viewing.

Li Wei nodded. It was too fast; he hadn’t seen it clearly.

Let alone it appearing on the proficiency panel.

The proficiency panel only worked after he had initially grasped it, allowing him to slowly gain experience. It couldn’t make him a genius who learns instantly.

Thus, after Knight Fred demonstrated countless times, Li Wei gradually understood the basic power technique.

He began to try swinging his sword himself.

Sword practice is a process of constant repetition, learning, making mistakes, and gaining understanding.

A slight deviation in the power technique would prevent the generation of the shock force.

Knight Fred patiently taught Li Wei again and again.

Li Wei hadn’t practiced his breathing technique these days, devoting himself entirely to sword practice. At least, it needed to appear on the proficiency panel first.

Given his unremarkable breathing technique talent, Li Wei had prepared himself for long-term training.

His face lit up, he felt it.

“Shock force! Although very weak, it’s indeed the shock force; I’ve entered!”

On the proficiency panel, a new skill appeared.
