The Wizard: Grinding Experience Starting with Knight Breathing Techniques 84
by adminWith Li Wei’s current growth rate, taking down Makka’s head before the old man dies should still be quite possible.
In fact, even with Li Wei’s current strength, taking Makka’s head wouldn’t be difficult.
However, Makka is the father-in-law of the Empire’s Fist, and before understanding the details of this legendary figure, Li Wei felt it was better to hold off.
Such a heavyweight figure as Makka must have powerful bodyguards; otherwise, with so many people wanting Makka dead, why is this old fellow still alive and well?
A gamble might succeed.
But a sure thing never fails.
Plus Li Wei’s previous savings.
It should be enough to buy the ambergris that will be sold at the upcoming merchant guild auction.
“Now, all that’s left are the Necromancer’s Core, the Evil Spirit Dust, and the Vortex Worm Egg,” Li Wei reviewed his harvest from this trip, then entered a state of cultivation.
…
After a month-long buildup.
The three-hundred-year grand ceremony finally began.
This Holy City ceremony was quite rich, featuring a circus parade, martial arts tournaments, and even a dragon-slaying spectacle in the arena!
Li Wei planned to check out the arena; he wanted to witness the Empire’s Fist’s strength to prepare for future actions.
The Wild Dog Knight finished his business and met Li Wei at the arena entrance. Thanks to the Wild Dog Knight’s work, Li Wei successfully entered this massive structure resembling a Roman Coliseum.
Undoubtedly, the arena was the most popular event of the celebration. The stands were packed; the best seats were occupied by officials and nobles, while the less desirable spots were filled with commoners. The seats the Wild Dog Knight secured weren’t very good, being too close to the action. Although the arena was surrounded by high iron railings, there was still some risk.
But it was good enough to get in.
“A Ground Dragon beast! I’ve never even seen a live Ground Dragon beast,” the Wild Dog Knight rubbed his hands, extremely excited.
Li Wei looked around. He noticed several elegantly dressed nobles in the best VIP seats watching the contest, including an old man: Makka, the Holy City’s finance minister, a tycoon elevated to his position thanks to the Empire’s Fist. Beside Makka was his daughter, the Empire’s Fist’s wife, and two powerful bodyguards, at least high-ranking Knights, protecting them.
“Oh, they’re all here to watch the show? I wonder if Makka’s mansion has any experts guarding it. If there aren’t any Great Knights, maybe I could make a move ahead of time? Steal the statue first?” Li Wei hesitated internally.
“Forget it, let’s not cause unnecessary trouble. What that person said wasn’t entirely true, and I don’t even know where that statue is in the mansion. Even if I infiltrated, I might not find it for a while,” Li Wei suppressed his greed, admonishing himself.
Soon, the Empire’s Fist made his grand entrance amidst much anticipation.
Li Wei finally saw this figure whose fame even surpassed that of the White Horse Knight.
“So tall, at least ten feet, right? Is this even a human? How does his wife even…?” Li Wei stared at the giant, waving his arms and enjoying the cheers.
He was shirtless, wearing no armor, taller than a one-story building. Li Wei felt this was beyond human.
The oppressive aura emanating from those hands and muscles, which seemed capable of crushing steel, could be felt even from Li Wei’s distance.
“My god…” The Wild Dog Knight was dumbfounded.
The audience roared with cheers.
“Storm’s Birth!”
“Empire’s Fist!”
“Guardian God!”
Countless people shouted wildly!
The Empire’s Fist cracked his knuckles.
“Long live the Holy City, long live the Empire!” the Empire’s Fist roared!
This roar invigorated the audience; they went wild with excitement.
“Long live!”
Countless people shouted, utterly frenzied!
Finally, the ruler of the Holy City, and also the ruler of the Tuva Empire, appeared on the highest platform, surrounded by ministers.
“Dear Emperor Mu, the Empire’s iron fist, I, on behalf of the tens of millions of citizens of the Empire and the Holy City, thank you for your dedication over all these years. The Empire is proud because of you!”
“Now, let the Empire’s iron fist present to you all the most exciting and thrilling performance of this era: a bare-handed fight against a vicious dragon!”
“Release the Ground Dragon!”
The Emperor of the Empire shouted.
From one side of the arena, heavy iron doors slowly creaked open.
From the dark entrance, two pairs of eerie green lights flickered.
A bloody stench permeated the air.
Roar!
With the ground trembling, a creature even larger than the Ground Dragon Li Wei had seen before charged out, attacking the Empire’s Fist.
The Empire’s Fist clenched his fists and roared.
Before the beast, capable of demolishing houses, could hit him.
Li Wei saw the Empire’s Fist, pitch-black and like an iron statue, with dark energy swirling around his fists. With a loud boom, he collided with the Ground Dragon beast.
“What kind of strength and defense is this? He actually dared to directly confront the Ground Dragon beast?”
Li Wei was incredibly shocked. He thought the Empire’s Fist would at least use weapons and his agility to kill the Ground Dragon beast.
But he was truly bare-handed, using fists wrapped in dark energy, continuously clashing with the Ground Dragon beast.
“Is this the near-legendary strength? The pinnacle combat power of this era?”
Li Wei’s blood also boiled. With just this one clash, he understood the vast difference between himself and the Empire’s Fist.
The opponent’s fists, wrapped in dark energy, were the best divine weapons, capable of tearing through the Ground Dragon beast’s scales. At his level, even if he cultivated a power-type breathing method, his defenses would be incredibly strong, and his speed wouldn’t be slow either.
“Every existence at the peak of an era will not have any significant weaknesses.” Li Wei concluded internally, discarding the self-satisfaction and pride brought on by his steadily increasing strength.
“Although they are both Great Knights, my father should still have a significant gap compared to someone like the Empire’s Fist.”
Ultimately, the battle ended without suspense.
The Empire’s Fist tore the Ground Dragon beast’s scales apart, dragon blood staining the arena. Li Wei inwardly lamented the wastefulness.
“Empire’s Fist!” The crowd cheered.
The Empire’s Fist gasped for breath, drenched in sweat. Clearly, the bare-handed fight against the Ground Dragon beast had taken a toll on him.
The dark energy around him began to dissipate. At this moment, Li Wei noticed the fresh wounds on the Empire’s Fist’s body. Although not deep, he was indeed injured.
“The defense doesn’t seem that abnormal.” Li Wei muttered to himself.
But such wounds would heal for the Empire’s Fist in no time.
However, suddenly, the Empire’s Fist’s face changed.
His body swayed involuntarily. Then he shook his head to steady himself, dark energy churning violently. He then looked at the wound on his chest.
The wound, which had been bloody moments before, was now an unnatural bluish-purple. A numbing and dizzying sensation surged through him.
“Poison! Someone put poison on the Ground Dragon beast’s claws?” Li Wei, a master poison maker, immediately noticed something was wrong.
Around the arena, white smoke suddenly appeared, instantly engulfing half the arena. Where the smoke passed, many people became dizzy and disoriented, collapsing and foaming at the mouth.
Most of those still standing were wearing identical gas masks, similar to the masks worn by death-birds.
“Go! That smoke is poisonous! Someone is causing chaos during the ceremony!” Li Wei said to the Wild Dog Knight.
The Wild Dog Knight also realized something was wrong.
Rumbling, the arena doors suddenly closed.
Realizing the danger, the fleeing crowd jammed the exits, resulting in a crush and stampedes.
The Empire’s Fist, enduring the nameless poison with his powerful physique, roared: “Who is it? A despicable villain! Come out!”
He looked toward the Emperor, who was on the high platform. The Emperor’s robe was torn, and a dagger, swirling with dark energy, seemingly made entirely of solidified dark energy, emerged from behind the Emperor, thrust into his chest by a military minister.
This military minister’s aura surged; a Great Knight’s power erupted as he crushed the Emperor’s heart. Then he said.
“Brother, I know you have long been a puppet of the Empire’s Fist. I’m sorry, but I don’t want the Empire to fall into the hands of outsiders!”
After killing the king, the military minister, clad in armor, strode onto the arena. More and more masked rebels stood behind him.
“Emperor Mu, prepare to die!” he said.
The Empire’s Fist laughed wildly: “What I, Emperor Mu, pursue is far beyond being a mere Emperor. You underestimate me greatly. You don’t think you, with this rabble, can be my opponent?”
Before his words ended, a dark figure swiftly charged from the chaotic crowd toward the Empire’s Fist’s back. The Empire’s Fist snorted coldly, unleashing a terrifying aura, striking back with a punch that forced the figure back, revealing his form: a knight wearing a skull mask. Obviously, this was also a Great Knight.
“Heh, to deal with me, you even summoned the Pale Shadow?”
The Empire’s Fist clenched his fists, his knuckles cracking, and grinned.
“Unfortunately, you don’t understand the gap between us! Self-righteous insects!”
